Spineless, unacceptable attack on Celtic fans

619

Your reputation was dragged into the mud by Social Justice Minister, Humza Yousaf, MSP,on Twitter this morning.  He wrote:

“On upcoming Celtic Vs Rangers match, we need clear messaging from everyone that fans must stay at home. If Police intelligence tells us, despite clear messaging, that groups of fans are going to gather to square off with each other, we need to consider if game should be postponed.”

“If Police intelligence tells us groups of fans are going to square off with each other” is his technique of throwing the blanket of blame over Celtic fans to prevent him addressing the threat of further social unrest head on.  He feels safe saying adding “Celtic” instead of calling out the true problem.  It is as spineless as it is unacceptable.

Be clear: there are absolutely no plans to postpone this game and there is no police intelligence that fans will square off.  None.  What there is, is a significant threat that the problems of last weekend are repeated on 21 March.  As far as this SNP government is concerned, we dare not speak that problem’s name.

This has nothing to do with Celtic and nothing to do with Celtic fans but your government is happy to trash the reputation of both.  He is toying with the reputation of the innocent and the occasionally vulnerable young.  If a Celtic lad turned up wearing lipstick Yousaf’s head would explode.

A lead in the polls does not permit you a free kick at Celtic fans.  Social Justice Minister, give me strength, you are contemptible.

I have to start by saying that I salute your tireless efforts over the last years. This contribution is not intended as a criticism of you.

    Regarding your conclusion above;

“With one tweet saying “Talks with SFA and UEFA are underway to restore trust broken out of what was viewed as commercial necessity in 2012 ” that would lift the burden of renewal choice from ST holders (if such a statement were believed and who wouldn’t want to?”

I have to say that I too would love to believe this.

But I also have to say that I believe that the bond of trust, and sense of common purpose, between me and our senior management; I.e my perception that they and I share the same goals for the club, is broken.

I know what I wanted for the club. I wanted us to kick on, be perennial champions and develop and maintain a profile as regular CL contestants, at least finish 3rd in group stage and maybe last 16 EL most seasons, maybe an odd CL last 16

I think I now realise what DD and PL have wanted over the past 15 years. I don’t think they wanted the same. I think they wanted to finish a short head in front of the Huns, keep the product interesting, throw the Huns a bone and get them back in the game. They wanted to act like a pair of ugly stepsisters tarting ourselves at the Greatestleagueintheworld.

And that’s never going to happen and DD can’t see a way out.

Reluctantly I am coming to the conclusion I have had enough.

I felt bad in the early 1990s when I stopped going but felt that change had to come and it would bring something better. I also rationalised it by convincing myself at the time that I was recently married and a new father.

Now I feel like I’ve been taken for a complete mug.

    Let me get this right.

In responding to someone saying that supermarket workers were unaffected by Covid you find it objectionable that I mention two Tesco workers in Greenock had died of it?

  7. SAINT STIVS on 14TH MARCH 2021 12:55 AM

And yet you don’t take offence at someone saying supermarket workers were unaffected?

Fitting he is mentioned in the late hours of a saturday night, he debated with the best of us lol

Regardless of our differences of opinions, we are all connected by the people in our past

Hail Hail and all the best

  9. Sid 1888 so do you have young kids. And do you think this is good for them, don’t you think this is now a national covid service. And regarding NHS staff there just like all industries good and bad.

  10. lets all do the huddle on

supermarket workers are possibly the greatest legends of this covid pish

i mean the ones on the shop floor helping to feed 60 million folk

not the scrota up in the offices thinking how they can increase their bonus by laying folk off

  11. LETS ALL spot on. The problem is there not middle class, they don’t matter, how many times do they get mentioned in any msm broadcast

Jings – I see the Hill-Billys have learned to type big (albeit spiteful and bitter – as is their wont) words.

Bless them – I’ll say a wee prayer for their forgiveness and peace.

Nice to see they have sobered up from destroying memorial benches and endangering the other, infinitely more civilised, members of Scottish society.

That aside – I do hope you enjoy your wee, bitter, twisted rage – bless your wee cotton socks.

Careful with the blood pressure though – perma-rage isn’t a good look – ask your wee pal, troo bloo Ragin’ Ruth!!!

Us Tims ? Well, I must say – we are chilled and very, very, 9-in-a-row happy :-)))

That Pub the Empire has been closed well before Covid, and the owner has tried to sell it but no buyers as yet ( To the best of my knowledge).

It closed around early 2019. you had to careful where you stood at the bar cos of the water coming thru the roof.

I only moved here in December 2016, so Ive no idea about the Train “Entrance” ?

    Cheers mate.

  15. Woke to hear the Marvin Haggler had died – at 66 ffs.

What a fighter he was… at the time I preferred Hearns and Sugar Ray but I suspect now Haggler would have been my favorite when the the fantastic four were fighting. Hardest chin in the history of the sport – which pretty much makes him one of the toughest men that’s ever lived. RIP Marvelous.

  16. LETS ALL DO THE HUDDLE on 14TH MARCH 2021 1:30 AM

In David Graebar’s book ‘Bullshit Jobs’ he makes a good case for the hatred directed towards anyone who actually does something useful is because they know their own whose jobs are ultimately worthless and add nothing to the world/society. It’s an excellent book and worth a look if you ever have the time.

  17. This is not a Dig at Rugby, as I always enjoy watching world Cups, The Six Nations etc…..BUT ” HOW MANY” Buses do Rugby Nations use during this current Covid, when going from hotels to Stadia etc ?

Likwise, HOW MANY buses do other UK Football teams use to get from hotels etc to Stadia at this moment in time ?

Are CELTIC the ONLY sports Club who are using more than One Bus to follow Covid rules ?

I havent read or heard ANY other Fitba or Rugby Nation, having to take the same safety measures as Celtic apparently do ?

  18. Marvin Hagler R.I.P.

I have never been a BIG Boxing fan, but there were some Boxers that I always tried to watch on TV and Marvin was one of them.

  19. Good morning cqn from a very cold and wet Garngad

Contrast the MET controlling a mass gathering at Clapham common v George Square and Strathclydes finest.

Now 2 different scenarios let’s not be mistaken here both wrong as the Met could have set up a vigil with social distancing etc.

Totally wrong however is the policing of George square no matter what way the Masons try and square it.

    D :)

  20. Let’s all do the huddle 9.30 pm

I could not agree with you more .

Our team has far too many wee lightweight players ..

It is my sincere hope that our next manager is able to correct this and recruit players who are bigger , stronger , faster , and with better technical ability, and more consistent application.

This Rangers team is a far more accomplished team that the Brendan Rodgers team faced.

In contrast to Paul67’s opinion on Slippy G .

He has surrounded himself with good coaching staff and is doing a sensational job with the assets provided to him .

I am very concerned that we are about to replace Lenny with technical theorists and laptop data analysts.

    The Austin McPhee type .

To the detriment of brining in a proven manager , who knows how to deliver a team , that can compete at EPL and CL level.

    TT

  21. Sorry what I meant to say was if Strathclydes finest used the same tactics as the real Police in London used at the start of the gathering last week then it would not have escalated to thousands.

  22. Any truth about Chris Wilder as our new manager.?

  25. Remember the Marvelous fighting Alan Minter at Wembley.

He took him apart with some of the hardest punches I’ve ever seen.

Minter passed at the end of last year a very good boxer.

Personally i rate Hagler the best £ for £ boxer i ever seen.

The reason he was mutually consented at SU was that he wouldn’t work with a DoF, couldn’t agree with transfer policy of the owner (some Arab Prince) nor the Prince’s global scouting system. So it’s a No from me and a No from him – hopefully.

  27. Sky news just tried to compare last weeks policing of event in Glasgow with the policing of events at Clapham common last night.
