The Juninho EBT

1126

I see several “fans’ groups” are engaged on the subject of our old friend, Juninho, who played around 13 games for Celtic eight years ago and benefited from an Employee Benefit Trust before and during his time at the club.

Can you believe this is where their focus is?

As Sir David Murray and a gaggle of his former directors will tell you, there is nothing illegal in EBTs, it’s the undeclared second contracts the football authorities have a problem with. Juninho’s EBT was not subject to any contract or side letter whatsoever. Moreover, our then chairman, Brian Quinn, regarded EBTs with suspicion and instructed the club to declare Juninho’s to the Revenue. Celtic even paid tax on money paid to the EBT.

The SFA and SPL, and every journalist in Scotland interested in getting a story right, are fully aware of the facts.

I suppose running with this beats looking at links between Green and Whyte. Keep up the good work, guys!

And for the record, stripping titles is not the ultimate sanction, not by the length of Argyle St.

Ah, the forbidding, dangerous back streets of Bournemouth. Not a place to dawdle or waddle…. though if waddling is as fast as a lardbucket type can go…then possibly even more bad luck awaitin’ the supporters (though not financially) of the cash strapped pork bellies.

You’d be surprised by the actualité of violent backstreets in backwaters like Bournemouth. I have been shocked on occasion by the wayward lurchings of crazies, high on candy-floss I assume,as they terrorize the unwary. I kid you not.

However,it is ultra rare to witness one of those witless huns in full blue regalia and faux gold accessories à la chunky munky style. Y’know the type : bellicose belligerent white lightnin’ alcoholic with an air of wearrapeepil pomposity about the cretin until he realises that there’s a giant Tim approaching, laughing. I did laugh. Couldn’t help it. The blue fella was exactly that….so depressed. I hope I ruined his day.

How about the mints outburst yesterday?

10 days ago we had the sevco leader appealing to the lowest common denominator.( Everyone is a bigot, apart from sevco)

Yesterday we had the mint appealing to the lowest common denominator again (this has nothing to do with integrity he claims!)

Well they should know that we expect the guilty to be punished and NOTHING has been done about it yet.

The old huns never got relegated, they folded

The old huns never got flung out of Europe, they folded

The old huns had a fine, which they never paid, they folded

The new huns players walked away after the old huns folded

The new huns have had a transfer embargo which starts after they have signed their new players

The new huns expected to “drop the debt” and carry on regardless the following day. They got their stadium back (well kind of) for a pittance, probably because it has a 28 million quid security over it.

Twist the knife? I don’t even think they have been punished at all.

They spent their time hating Neil Lennon while they were going bankrupt

They are spending their time shouting about the titles of a folded club while they are on the verge of administration yet again

They will never learn. I blame the skools.

But we are getting an insight into the type of WATP thinking that has held this country back and its not just the ten a penny huns fans who involved either.

  17. Anyone heard of this plan to get as many Celtic fans along to Starks Park as possible on Saturday as we dont have a game.

  18. from Wikipedia (so it’s possibly true)

“Avenues and Alleyways” is a 1972 single recorded by Tony Christie as the theme song for the television series The Protectors. It was written and produced by Mitch Murray and Peter Callander, and was thought to be about the dangerous backstreets of Bournemouth, which at the time was a battleground for competing gangs dealing in illicit, barely rinsed shellfood to feed their candy floss habits. Known locally as the Razor Clam gangs, they gradually diversified their activities and now prey on unsuspecting waddling lardbuckets too stricken with grief to notice that someone is stealing their Buckfast.”

    “In the Avenues and Alleyways:

Where the soul of a man is easy to buy.

    Everybody’s wheeling, everybody’s stealing,

all the low are living a high.

    Every city’s got ’em.

    Can we ever stop ’em?.

Some of us are gonna try.”

  19. Somebody earlier referred to McCourt’s style as ‘the Celtic way’.

I seriously hope it is not. To succeed in modern football, you need strength, power, pace and athleticism. the sport is now played by athletes, supported by good sports science teams as backup.

McCourt is possibly the least athletic player i have seen this century in a Hoops jersey.

He is undoubtedly talented, and offers that X-factor that can be very useful against tiring defences etc, but as a 90 minute player, he is a disgrace. I have no idea how someone like that can be tolerated in a professional environment – he should be working like a madman in the gym, on a strict diet, and doing extra strength, endurance, power sessions etc in order to bring himself up to the level required to play top-end pro football.

I am no fan of the epl, but a player like him would never be tolerated at a serious epl club – and this shows the difference between the regime at Celtic, and those ‘down south’. No wonder we continually lose to teams like swansea, norwich (x2) sunderland, wolves etc. They field guys from 1-11 who work, press, tackle, and run. Guys who have prepared themselves properly for professional sport, are strong enough not to be knocked off the ball. We have several lightweight sand dancers, who often show no signs of wanting to improve themselves physically.

It is no coincidence that the richest clubs in the UK are looking at Wanyama – football has moved on dramatically, and players like Victor are exactly what is needed. MON knew this, adn Neil played under MON for long enough that he should know it too.

McCourt needs to shape up and act like a professional – so that he can showcase his undoubted talent. The days of a Jimmy Johnstone-esque player are long gone – sad, but a fact of life.

“The Protectors first aired in 1972 and 1973, and ran to 52 episodes over two series, each 25 minutes long – making it one of the last series of this type to be produced in a half-hour format. It starred Robert Vaughn (of The Man from U.N.C.L.E. fame) as Harry Rule, Nyree Dawn Porter (The Forsyte Saga) as the Contessa Caroline di Contini, and Tony Anholt (Space: 1999, Howard’s Way) as Paul Buchet. Episodes often featured prominent guest actors.

Three inexplicably affluent international private detectives/troubleshooters are charged with ensuring the protection of innocents. They belong to an organization called The Protectors, based in London. Harry leads the group. The Contessa lives in Italy (when she is not working with Harry). She runs her own detective agency, which specializes in exposing art frauds and recovering stolen art. Paul Buchet works out of Paris, and is the group’s researcher and gadget specialist. Adventures range from simple kidnapping to convoluted cases of international intrigue. These characters are all very wealthy and drive exotic cars of the era, such as the Citroën SM and Jensen Interceptor.”

    SPL announce YouTube partnership

The Scottish Premier League (SPL) today announced a partnership with YouTube, the world’s number one video sharing website, which will see match highlights and exclusive content available for YouTube viewers in the UK and around the world for the next three seasons.

The groundbreaking deal is a first for league football in the UK and will see the SPL’s official YouTube channel, ‘splofficial’ screen highlights from every Clydesdale Bank Premier League match. From season 2012-13 ‘splofficial’ will be the place to catch all the goals, skills, best saves and top tackles from the top tier of Scottish football, while being a platform for supporters to share their own videos and experiences as they follow their club throughout the season.
