The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

  1. celtic fans need a clear mandate for change in the infrastructure and personnel running/ruining our game. If other clubs fans are on board then more power to the movement.

Mandate + Demonstration (e.g. hampden, boycotting) – this is the ONLY way anything will change in this game.

I don’t know what Celtic are doing but since John Reid left we have lost visible muscle and appear weak and subservient in the eyes of its supporters. I understand why they would remain silent over matters concerning newco , however the treatment of a Celtic Manager last season should have been dealt with from the full force of Lawell and Desmond to protect the name of celtic and one of its most valuable assets.

My main interest is the health and growth of Scottish football – the poison will be back and desperate as ever for $$ , any chance of development of our game gone and stuck in the past.

  2. The re-appointment of Ogilvie is further proof that the majority of Scottish clubs are happy with how he does his job.

It is a staggering indictment of the rampant corruption that is now endemic within Scottish football.

The day is fast approaching where i walk away from all Scottish football for good.

  3. I think this could be my last post for a while so I had better be clear.

What we refer to as `just a feeling` is actually a cognitive response to a subliminal assessment of subtle data. That being so, the only positive I feel at the moment is that Celtic really do have plans to move to a League outwith Scotland so don`t want to say or do anything to unsettle that process.

I have to say, though, that my `feeling` is based on a very weak signal from the sublimianal part of my mind 0:-)

    Cheerio for now,

    JJ

  4. Many on this site have said that it is better to say nothing because whatever is said will be turned against us by the MSM.

Many have said that we are working away in the background and should ca’ canny.

There comes a point when silence is louder than words.

They gave a vote of confidence 2 Ogilvie the rest of Scottish football should now show a NO VOTE OF CONFIDENCE in the decision makers at SFA

  6. Finbar67 ‏@Finbar67 9m

Ogilvie’s re~election without any fuss proves that celtic and the other clubs want sevco fc in the game. Its not even up for debate anymore.

You have been on the blog a this time and that’s all you got?

There are more important issues in life – but this is a fitba blog we talk about important fitba issues here if you think this is low level stuff – no probs.

most of us deal with the important non- fitba stuff elsewhere ;-)

  10. Hope you are not flouncing Jungle Jim or doing a 125. You do a very good job here and your views are needed. This is a very influential site read and discussed by thousands of Celts worldwide. It is important that it is informative and balanced and that all views are expressed and given heed to. I myself will be missing for next 8 days but like Arnold “I will be back”.

  12. Brogan Rogan Trevino and Hogan supports Kano 1000,

I think it was Bale, rather than Balde, BBJ tweeted about.

  13. Well it does take something to rouse me from my CQN slumber these days. I have read the blog over the past few weeks with great interest regarding the good lady Charlotte’s leaks and the good debate had buy guys on here; it was like how the blog used to be 5 years ago.

With Campbell Ogilvie’s unopposed re-election as SFA President it represents a watershed for me watching the game in this country, like others I believe the game is finished, it seems to me Celtic PLC are happy with the status quo, they are happy with the state of the game and how it is being run and by who.

The continuing silence on the issues is deafening, how some people think the PLC are playing a blinder is beyond me.

We are doing nothing as a club to force change, it is only the fans that care, and the PLC cares not a jot for the rank and file supporter. I have emailed and tweeted the club on at least 10-15 times to get some kind of response on the fans survey results, to date I have not had a response.

It looks like the club don’t want to publish the results of the survey, the question I have is why? Did they not like the response that they got?

Never mind the treatment of the Green Brigade don’t get me started on that!

The only way we can affect real change is by withholding our cash, it’s the only thing the PLC and the rest of the cabal that runs our game understand, it really is up to us, if we don’t do something nobody else will!

    gebhoy

  14. So we withhold Oor Cash?

    Then Whit?

Moneys tight in my house, been thinking for the last month, spend my hard earned on a season ticket or should I not.

    Decisions, decisions Hmmmmm

It’s been took out my hands I feel sorry for you guys who have bought in to a rigged set up.

From seeing what cf has produced over the last week ,and the honest mistakes in the Mowbray season ,how far the referees, the media , and the Scottish football Association will go to favour the one club.

I cant afford to pay to be mentally abused ,£400 what can I do with that kind of money, i could make it go a long way.

I can start to follow Andy Murray on television, or a Golfer, at least I will know I will be following an honest and un biased sport.

  16. saltires, I’m fully aware its a football blog and I fully agree that the re-election of Ogilve is a most legitimate discussion issue. I also understand and indeed share the frustration that the wrong doers are not being brought to account and in particular I am frustrated that no one in the Media or in any authority seem prepared to bring Charlotte’s leaks into the mainstream public domain. However when I see Celts threatening to walk away from supporting the Club, I feel obliged to call for a bit of perspective, Celtic are in a great position now, anyone urging Celts to walk away are doing the Huns work.

  17. I’m going to go on twitter and start posting here comments from guys at school who don’t know anything saying Celtic are big bad bhoys.

Seems to be the way with some folk.

Anything that happens we don’t like its somehow Celtics fault.

We try and sign a striker the majority on here have never seen yet he’s crap and folk are underwhelmed.

That’ll be the same folk that thought Forster was crap, Sammi useless, Wilson a donkey and hooper has a poor touch.

Despair at Celtic fans sometimes, really do.

Would it be to hard to wait and get all the facts first before spouting nonsense about never giving Celtic a penny again or Balde is crap.??

We do like a moan eh.

  18. To anyone wishing for an honest SFA ….DREAM ON!

  20. If nobody stood in opposition to CO then would he have been reelected automatically? Is the gripe here that Celtic didn’t sponsor a candidate?

You are spot on!! I totally misread that tweet– wondered where BBj was coming from?

Sorry for misleading the blog– just goes to show that you shouldn’t work and try and keep up at the same time.

I am away to Bale my heid!

  22. Rest in peace Clare, you lived long enough to see rangers die.

CLARE Dawson, Celtic’s oldest supporter, has

passed away at the age of 109. Clare grew up

in the East End of Glasgow not far from Celtic

Park and her father was a close friend of Willie

    Maley.

And even though in later years she wasn’t able

to attend matches, she still cheered on the

Bhoys as she watched the games on

television. “Seeing Celtic is the highlight of my

    week,” she explained.

In May 2012, Clare was at Celtic Park as a

special guest of the club on the day when Neil

Lennon’s side lifted the SPL trophy, and Clare

was presented with a special Hoops shirt from

    Celtic Chief Executive Peter Lawwell.

Peter Lawwell said today: “On behalf of

everyone at Celtic, I would like to extend our

deepest sympathies to Clare’s family at this

very difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers

    are very much with them.

“It was a privilege to meet Clare, someone

who lived such a wonderful life. She was a

tremendous woman with great humour and

spirit and someone who I know dearly loved

Celtic. She will be sadly missed by so many.”

  23. How did that vote about associate members go? If passed, Sevco instantly become a full member with voting rights.

  24. Leafing through those pages of CQN and all this talk of Lions roarin’ and Hearts of Lions etc. has made me go and do it! I’m off to Lisbon on Thursday morning for a few days and any tips/recommendations etc will be greatly received.

Obviously I will go and visit the hallowed turf and if any of you good ghuys or ghirls can suggest the best way of getting there by public transport from the centre of Lisbon then I shall raise my glass in an early toast to you.

I’ve checked Celticbars.com and there doesn’t seem to be a Celtic bar in Lisbon… unless anyone knows differently?

  26. Was there actually a vote or was Ogilvie the only candidate? Those in office are usually re-elected as often as they want with any vacancies settled by Buggins’ turn. Don’t think there has been an actual election between candidates for a fair while.
