Uncommon penalties and chaotic weeks of back-biting

782

Kris Commons looked like he had put a lot of practice into taking penalties yesterday.  The ball was firmly hit and found the corner of the net, a feat which is far from impossible but which has been beyond various Celtic players for the last few years.  We have little a little over a month before we could face a penalty kick competition against Juventus.  Penalty kick practice should be on the menu every day between now and then, for the entire squad.

I’m delighted Lukasz Zaluska has had an extended run in the team.  No player will be at his best if he is seldom tested and never in important games.  Lukasz carried his share of the blame for last weekend’s Hampden defeat but not every keeper can pull off a Nigel Spink.  Good to have Fraser back for Inverness.

If you read on a Celtic site that The Rangers chief executive and chairman are “at loggerheads” after “a chaotic week of back-biting” or that there is a prospect they will “frighten the life out of those institutional investors who ploughed £17million into the coffers little more than a month ago”, you would be forgiven for discounting the claim as a case of wishful thinking.

When it comes from the Daily Record and recent colleague of the club’s newly installed head of media you can be sure there is a little more to it than that.

You would think with all the positive feedback Green and Murray would have received form the SPL Commission they would be flush with joys.  I sincerely hope, for their sake, that Phil’s Bridge over Troubled Waters ditty was more wishful thinking than another leak from the media team.  That would be embarrassing.  “Squelch.”

You’ll not be popular with that view,,..for what its worth ..I agree with you….Paddy is a payer who seems to have improved by not playing …his recent pathetic efforts ( infrequent as they are ) seem to be ignored by some

Correct re. Paddy. An obstruction to youngsters getting experience.

Would rather Rogic was in 25 man squad rather than Paddy. The truth is neither likely to get a game but Rogic is for the future and would benefit from the experience.

Paddy McCourt’s Fenian Army ……..seriously though, Paddy, as a squad player, has come into many gam es where he has contributed to the victory, and entertained greatly …….he is a true Celt and……if NEIL likes him, then I love him …….

Not aimed at you, but there are far too many experts amongst all supports…..I tend to leave it to the manager to do what he feels is best, taking into account all relevant factors…..lindeed, I was listening to one at our last home game, and he wasn’t half talking a load of old shoite…. left him to it….!!

  7. Dear Charles Green,

Since you have decided to enter into correspondence with us over something which you have confirmed yourself is feck all to do with you, allow us to respond in kind; your manager is a fat pie eating joke, your team is utter Shoite, and your club, top to bottom, is an omni-shambles. And its all your an bloody fault.

    yours faithfully,

  9. Disappointing that after one of the most financially lucrative periods in our history, and with a game pending that is likely to have the highest ever gate receipts in our history, that we enter the advanced stages of the tournament with the same squad.

Clearly the manager doesn’t feel either of the signings is able to have any impact against Juve, but , I feel cheesed off that i have played my part by forking out 25 % more for a ticket, and, I had naively hoped some of this would go to improving the team.

    Sadly not.

  10. Does anyone know if the auditors have ever been pulled up or questioned on how they could have no knowledge of the EBT’s.

These were still ongoing in 2011 and were well known about by everyone at that time, how could they deny having any knowledge of this?

Surely the FSA would investigate this?

“The Respondents submit that ‘the auditors had not seen the side letters, otherwise they would have been a matter of specific comment”.

She continues “It would appear, from the evidence heard on Mr Purple’s termination payment, which is narrated in more detail under the section on ‘Termination Payments’ in my findings of fact, that the auditors had been told an untruth on both scores, regarding the waiver of the right, and the loan being unrelated to the contractual payment on transfer. The auditors were also told that the paperwork for Mr Purple was ‘mislaid’, (and therefore was not available for the auditors to inspect). Over the use of the remuneration trust, the auditors seemed to have been treated by the Appellants with the same lack of candour as accorded to HMRC. The auditors did not seem to be privy to any (or much) of the documentation, and had not formed a view on the scheme other than relied on what they had been told by the management.”

  13. I see Shimmies is on again with his usual kak about Paddy McCourt. It sure does get a bit wearing.

Whilst I will agree with him about giving youth a chance it should not be at the expense of Paddy.

I guess he much prefers the type of player who does nothing but play the ball square and backwards. We’ve got them in abundance. How about someone who creates more in 5 mins than many do in 90mins.

I wouldn’t worry too much about young Rogic not being in the CL squad , Lenny is in the best position to judge and make such decisions.

Besides, I’m certain Rogic will have a major role to play in next seasons Champions league and beyond.

I hope we all appreciate we are on the cusp of a golden era for CFC, we will dominate for years in the SPL and with a young confident squad remind the rest of europe how magnificent our club is.

Not being associated with the zombies is only a good thing, I hope we don’t play them for years, let them rage elsewhere.

I’m only 30 and apart from MON’s teams (who were all seasoned pro’s) I don’t remember ever seeing such a promising squad.

  17. Cowiebhoy, HMRC have confirmed the appeal has been granted and likely to be heard in London. Phil had an article yesterday hinting a winding up order is on the way for Sevco from some Singaporean business men, debt owed no money to repay.

Back at the ranch, Rogic and Gershon not in the 25 man squad for Europe, other than that nowt. You 50 yet? Rogic did score for the under twenties tonight, 3-1 victory v Hamilton.

They brought in 7 players over summer with a combined transfer fee of £0, and lost 10 players.

They also beat us and have reached the Ramsden’s Cup final, along with knocking Hibs out of the League Cup.

I am normally more of an optimist when it comes to Celtic, and , I think we have a reasonable chance of going through.

However, my support this season has come out of my wallet, which doesn’t make me any more or any less of a supporter, but, it does make me entitled to an opinion.

    Bada!bing!

Tom Rogic has spent most of the last couple of weeks back in Australia sorting out his work permit and attending to some other matters. He arrived in Scotland late one night last week and turned up at Lennoxtown on time next morning. I’m happy to let the gaffer decide on who is up to facing the mighty Juve and who is not yet ready.

  22. Pf Ayr

What pathetic efforts would they be then? The last time I saw him he came on with 20 mins ago v Hibs , never lost the ball once and created chances for others. But hey what’s the point…there are the usual contributors on here who will have a go at him no matter how he plays. Remind me again how badly he played in the League Cup semi final.
