Booking £20m from TV rights in China over 10 years is a remarkable deal for the SPFL, it shows a lot of faith from broadcaster, PPLive, who have the responsibility to foster the league in the world’s most populous country. The cash will be beer money to Celtic but represents a substantial income for most of the Premiership.
The deal opens the door for Celtic to follow-through, the only club with the wherewithal to exploit the merchandising, scouting and recruitment opportunities there. We’ve seen strategies developed in Mexico, India and now China, while the European football-tourist market is also now being targeted through online partners.
None of this will put the ball in the Ajax net tomorrow night but it is important nonetheless.
Delighted we’re at Tynecastle in the fourth round of the Scottish Cup. Hearts players found the will to live against Hibs last week but they have little more than effort to their game. Should be a cracking tie, which will not be subject to the performance vagaries of a home tie with Morton.

I read that piece. I actually found out about the whole bonfire night anti-catholic thing when watching Blue Peter when I was a kid (just before I made a formula one car with a few egg boxes, toilet roll holders and a few bobbins) They were surprisingly honest on how the catholics werebasically second hand citizens back in Guy Fawkes times.
My cousin moved to Pennsylvania back in the 80’s and says she was never really accepted into the community for years because of her Catholic background. She now goes to “bible club” with them. (I think you must get some kind of brainwashing when you go through customs into the USA, she was never religious when she stayed in the Gorbals)

Badly written whining misanthropy.

Anyone else delighted with M’ON and Roy taking over Ireland?
afternoon, good news on the Chinese TV money, this will cover the lack of a league sponsor.
Happy with cup draw , tough game where we will have to give it proper respect.
looking forward to tomorrows game , big decisions for Neil on how attacking he sets us up to keeper ,back 4 , central two wide 2 should pick themselves ,
FF , ML EA VVD EI , CM Jl , JF , GS
question do we add in Kayal to central midfield for a 5 or go with 4-4-2 , then it is 2 from 3 of TP, AS or KC
I would play it safe , we are away from home , 4-5-1 play Kayal & Tony , – Kris is a risk coming back from hamstring injury and Teemu can replace Tony later in game.
Hoping for a win , would take a draw , worry we will loose as away from home is not easy at this level and it is a must win for Ajax.

Did the quiff get stuck?
Does he talk much about his irish background?
Philbhoy – Jeremy Isaacs had it commissioned especially for the show. There’s some decent extras in the boxset including the usual Making Of.
Can’t remember who he said but the leaflet says Carl Davis.
Astonishingly great telly.

Delighted to see any money come in but it works out at £2m per season. Have we sold it short? Surely a 3/4 year deal would have been a good starting point. On the flipside when they see how pish the SPFHell is they’ll be sick if they paid up front ;-)

Cheers,mate.
I’ll finish my pint, and head off to set it up.

It is a wonderful series.
Fortunately it gets repeated from time to time.
I ask my wee girl how to work the TIVO thingy on the telly.

She’s assimilating. Probably singing the Catholic words in her head!
Did i see a wee Christina get a mention, with no photos? What’s happening here?
The World at War series would have been shorter, if ole Richard Burton and Clint Eastwood had been signed up in time.

I know what you mean. Ten years ago,my 5yo niece amazed me wi her dexterity on a computer. At that time,I couldnae even switch one on!
I’m very pleased with my progress since, though that “on” switch took five years to locate.
Still canny do that link creator thingy though. I had just got it nailed when PAUL67 removed the option.
The tease…

I’ve got the ole ‘Virgin Anywhere’ app, on the iPhone good for when you’re at TESCO getting

Methinks Christina is more than a wee bit dazed and confused. Mistaken Guido for the Polish goalkeeper known as John Paul II in 1979. You can trust me on this one, from 1979 onwards you were far more likely to see Maggie ablaze than the Pontiff. As for Guido, has he not been rehabilitated following V for Vendetta, and the use of his image as part of the Occupy movement. Might have been different of course had they occupied St. Paul’s Cathedral, instead of setting up camp outside of it.
I have the box set of the World at War, Great value at £20.
I went to Auschwitz last year. Tbh I was in tears on the way out there in a bus as they showed a video of when the Russians landed there. One guy said he still had nightmares of what he seen. A truly humbling experience. I’d also like to visit Oradur sur Glane which is featured in the World at War.
When Thursday morning arrives at BSR Towers, neighbours and passers-by frequently hear the command “Scourgify!”, often followed by a limp flash, some erratic profanities, and the unpleasant aroma of burning polyester.

Thanks. If I can do it, it means practically anyone can.
As I said earlier today in the discussion on the posts by SFTB, TBB and Auldheid, the progression of Sevco through the divisions seems as inexorable as it is predictable given their 3000% budgetary advantage of their rivals. They received a leg-up that they were not entitled to and that is bad news, but not, as you rightly say, as bad as it might have been if Doncaster, Regan et al had won the day and convinced us all that what we had witnessed at the end of the 2011-2012 season never really happened.
If it can stay solvent, Sevco will feature in the top league in the land before any of us is very much older. Treat them as a new opponent promoted (on merit, because they win their games) to the top flight. It won’t be the same as, say, Gretna coming up through the ranks because Sevco have a much bigger support and play at a big stadium in the same city as us. Lots of Celtic fans work beside lots of Sevco fans. There will be banter and ‘banter’ and this will give the whole thing something of the edge that Celtic’s erstwhile rivalry with Rangers used to have.
All of this is inevitable and, from what we see and hear around us, even desirable as far as some Celtic fans are concerned.
What is not inevitable is that we accept the big lie, that, like Flash Gordon, Rangers only appeared to meet its doom but is in fact alive and well. This is an insult to our intelligence and to whatever vestiges of fair play remain in football.
We can hold our noses and play the new club, as long as the same rules apply to them as to everyone else. We cannot play Rangers ever again.
“and play the new club, as long as the same rules apply to them as to everyone else.”
I`ve enjoyed your recent posts, Celtic-First. I have copied the above to point out the obvious: The same rules WON`T apply to them.

“We cannot play Rangers ever again”
When Sevco enter our league lets see how Celtic describe/call them in the official programme. That will tell us everything we need to know.

Celtic v Rangers * under 18’s already played and billed as such, in all Celtic media *
bournesouprecipe
Does the youth team not exist under the old company? It hasn’t been liquidated yet has it?
The next time we play a team in blue with Rangers in the title it will be described as a new club. I am sure of that. Celtic know the drill.
LB
bournesouprecipe
What I mean is once the old club is officially liquidated it will make all this new club old club, new company old company garbage totally null and void.
It’s a new club. They had to re-enter league set up. It’s a new company they have a new company number.
End of story.

So are we chasing Zheng Zhi again?
Is a goalscoring goalkeeper? If so he’ll fit the bill…
