BBC editorial standards on Celtic complaint

I consume tons of BBC material, TV, radio, Sounds and online.  It is the most value for money media out there (apart from CQN).  It has is critics, those who would do away with it and leave the road open for the global conglomerates – that is never how they see it, of course, but I would campaign for its continued independence.

When Celtic marked the death of Shane Warne, a long time Ange Postecoglou fan, their choice of photo was attacked by a BBC correspondent on Twitter.  Unfairly so, judged the BBC Editorial Standards Board, who issued a takedown notice.  The correspondent did as he was told, albeit without the grace to apologise.

For a long time Celtic have been a cheap hit.  Politicians and journalists have felt free to work in the darkness of innuendo, an indication of the drop in standards across public life in general.  Some standards are worth maintaining.  We can only hope lessons will be learned.

    Why in heaven’s name did you feel you had to post the whole of the census form on here when we can read it all elsewhere?

     

    My fingers are sore enough scrolling past SIONNAIGH’s ambition to post the Guinness Book of Records in its entirety without having a complete census form to deal with!

    IMO, Tom English has the ability to be a good journalist and he show sthis when he writes of Rugby but , when it comes to Celtic, he does not have the neutrality required.

    There is an ingrained bias in BBC Scotland’s coverage of football.

    Maybe a bit more editorial oversight from London would not go amiss.

    Well I don’t know how they deal with these things in Turkey, but in Scotland it’s the court, either a judge or a jury, who decided whether a claim is true or false.

    For God’s sake, I completed my census online a few days ago. It takes a while because there are a lot of pages. I don’t want to come onto CQN and have to wade through it a second time. Many on here will or have already completed it. There is absolutely no reason to read it in such depth on CQN. Please give it a rest.

    I thought the questions quite intrusive to a point of wanting to know name of your employer and where you work.

     

    It is a data mine that is in the governments sights already (you pay tax, you have an NI number etc etc)

     

     

    what would a person looking at my details in 100 years gleam from knowing i hadnt paid off my mortgage, my wife works in a shop and daughter is in university.

     

     

    my point was really, why do they want to know it all at this level.

    Can I suggest posting about Celtic. Others are trying above. There’s a debate about press standards with specific regard to the BBC’s Tom English and his bias against Celtic. There’s mention of a rebuild of the Main Stand and there are posts about the sexual abuse case and it’s implications for Celtic yet you try to sidetrack the blog with mind numbing posts about the Census.

    The journalist lady then approached, investigative journalist, James O’Keefe, at “Project Veritas dot com” and gave her take on what has been going on for the past 2+ years.
