Blinkered Views risky punt against St Mirren

1113

In his Bookies Corner article for the current issue of CQN Magazine, columnist, Blinkered Views, suggested St Mirren offered good value for a punt on relegation.  I spoke to him when he submitted the article and suggested, “Surely Dunfermline?”  He agreed Dunfermline were most likely for the drop but they offered no value.  St Mirren, on the other hand, were 9/1 for the drop and he made a good case why this was worth a bet.

St Mirren promptly spoiled Christmas for thousands (not your or me) by coming from behind to beat Rangers but that has been their only win in 8 league games.  We also don’t need to be reminded that when visiting St Mirren Park, form is a poor guide.  Celtic exited the Scottish Cup there a week after beating Saints 7-0 at Celtic Park.  They are a team who can raise their game for the big occasion and the visit of Celtic, live on TV, is as big as it gets around Paisley.

Paddy McCourt has enjoyed his visits there and has been key to Celtic collecting the points a couple of times.  Don’t be surprised if he makes a match winning appearance from the bench.

Talking of the illicit stuff, when I first moved to Ireland I met this bloke in the pub, he made the Poteen, and mightily fine stuff it was too, 5 punts a bottle, one day he invited me and the Mrs up for a meal and to show us his still, now the still was ok, but when we saw how he did the washing of the bottles and the state of his hoose, needless to say I never bought another bottle from him, shame it was good stuff, what the eye don’t see….

Listen, If kids in englandshire are looking for 30k a week and players like Carrol are worth 35 mill. Sammi is good value at 20 mill, or am I wrong :>)))))

  3. Has anyone asked Rangers what they intend to pay in terms of compensation for Celik???? He may have signed but have his old club got anything for bringing him on as per the rules????

I used to really like George McCluskey. I would wind up the old man by saying he was better than Bobby Lennox :)

    ———————-

George McCluskey is a fantastic guy.

But I’m sure that even he would agree that he could do tens of things that the Buzzbomb couldn’t do but that Bobby could do thousands of things that he couldn’t do.

Your Faither could spot a player….

In my defence I was only about 8 at the time. And it was an easy way to get the old man going!

  7. Would anyone ever refer to their ultimate boss as ‘the owner’? Ally McCoist has.

he has also said he would keep an open mind on potential signings who were on trial.

He also said that if there was real interest in Jelavic then he would have heard from Sam Allardyce.

Don’t think things are going well between the owner and the manager?

I also have a St.Etienne scarf from the 76 ECF. I swapped an almost identical Celtic scarf for it. The French fans were a right friendly lot, about 20000 of them came over and turned the city green and white. After the game the city centre pubs were open till about 2 am I think. My drunk daredevil cousin scaled at greasy 100ft high pole in george square to remove a French Tricolor. He presented it to the cheering St.Etienne crowd who then plied us with more beer and wine. BTW they love Celtic too. Great memories.

Celtic is all about Legendary things. There is something about Sammi that gives me the feeling that he will be pivotal to what is going to happen over the next few years. I think we are on the cusp of something really special and Sammi has shown all these younger players so many good habits – and I’m sure he disnae have any tatttoooos. ;)

  10. From Mervan Celik’ Wikipedia page.

‘He was born and raised in Bishop’s Place, Hisingen, an island which forms part of the Gothenburg Municipality.[4] Celtic and his parents are celtic supporters, hence his name.[10] His mother and father lived in Konya before moving to Sweden, where his father opened a restaurant.’

Of course he’s no worth anything like that, fair play to Lenny for saying Hoops is worth 35 mill, tell them where to get off.

Sammi will make the goals that will win the league, that will do for me, he might even chip in with one or two as well, ye never know.

Evening bhoys, hun free as ever.

Well fellow Tims, it’s been a strange day today, there has been a bit of a stooshie over on RTC due to a poster posting James Forrest’s superb post from the other day, seems a few posters took the hump with it.

Then we had Awe Naw being his usual self and he was posing as a hun who took on the resident huns, and destroyed them imo.

Much more exiting than the day I have had, I have about 200 lbs of spare oranges in anybody is interested, also had a lovely Chino meal this evening and had a superb red with it, and all it cost was a big bag of oranges, the joys of the barter system.

What’s Lenny to do the morra, choices, choices, go for it I reckon, finish them off quick time.

    ————-

You make that place sound more appealing all the time m8, the barter system is the best IMO.

Coincidentally, Konyaspor also play in green and often in the hoops.

    Agree.

Sammi has become a vital player for us.

I’m surprised it took the management so long to see

what we could see that he was a far better player on the left mid side

bearing down on goal. It was there in his first game.

  22. It is a tounie for footballers,
