Brown and Lustig with international and Champions League conflicts

848

A year ago you and I discussed Scott Brown’s fitness with some concern for the season ahead. Since then the captain has not skipped a beat, his form and availability for selection have been without question.

It is clear he can cope with a Scotland game this weekend, and no doubt finish the season untroubled, but Scotland have an international against England on 10 June, two weeks after the Scottish Cup final, and four weeks before Celtic’s Champions League qualification campaign gets underway.

If Scott is to participate in all games, he will have a week off after the Scottish Cup final before being called into the Scotland squad, then two weeks before Celtic’s preseason training starts. For a player of his age, with his injury profile, this schedule would not allow sufficient recuperation ahead of a new season.

Selfishly, the most important thing to you and I, and to Celtic, is Champions League qualification, more so than the Scottish Cup, or than a season of invincibility, delightful, though both would be. What Brendan Rodgers backroom team need to do is prepare Scott as thoroughly as possible for the middle of July. Planning should start now.

If there’s another player in the Celtic squad who I would also like to ration his football it’s Mikael Lustig. The Sweden international is likely to be involved in both their international squad in June; a World Cup qualifier against France and a derby against Norway.

If Scotland fail to get a positive result against Slovenia on Sunday, Scott might consider it best to retire from the international stage, again. He and Mikael could do with a few weeks on the beach at the end of the season.

i saw that clip a couple of weeks ago and posted on here if anyone knew anything as to why it was there, no answer that I saw i’m afraid. If you hear anything please post it my nose is bothering me.

I think it was filmed in Liberia. My first thought was maybe something to do with the building of schools with Mary’s Meals.

    How many have now entered?

If I enter tonight, when do I have to pay my fee?

Is that alright for you? :-)))

Sorry I missed your previous post. After seeing it I would normally watch the Comic Relief programme to find out more about it but I’m going to watch the Republic playing Wales. I thought the camera was set up to give the crest good exposure. Sheeran is a good Irish name so maybe Ed had a say in it.

We’ve been overwhelmed this time and we already have 76 entrants after just 4 days. Still a full week before it all kicks off and anyone that enters is then sent emails with full details of how to pay and how to play! Probably simplest if I just post my usual advert for you………

  8. ****Goals For Shay 2 – your invitation!****

Have you heard about our brand new competition, “Goals For Shay 2” which will commence on Saturday 1 April 2017?

Simply pick 1 single unique team each week for the remainder of the league season and the entrant with the highest aggregate goals scored will take the top prize (roughly 90% of the total prizepot). And this time, to keep everyone fully involved, there will be a separate prize (about 10% of the total prize money) for the entrant who does best over the final 3 rounds. So even if you get off to a disappointing start, there’ll still be everything to play for as the weeks go on.

The cost of entry is £10 per team entered and this gets you one free joker which, when played, will double your score that week. You can also buy one additional joker for £5.

The prizepot will consist of 50% of the entry free, with 50% going to support Walk With Shay. All monies from the additional jokers will also go to help Shay.

Really, really simple to take part and all you need to do for now is just register your interest by sending a “can I play please” email to cqnpredictor@gmail.com . If you have a moniker or nickname that we can use to identify you once the competition starts then please tell us that. We’ll get back to you with full details, usually within 48 hours.

And please feel free to tell your family and friends, share on Facebook, involve your work colleagues, etc. We are a competition Open to All.

Thank you for Walking With Shay.

Frtizsong ….I think this will actually work out ok for Trump …. he has no ideological belief in repealing obamacare … he just wanted to say that he had done it ……frankly, his bill would have been a disaster had it passed, and eventually would have turned many (who would effectively be left without proper coverage) against him ….

this way, he gets to say that he tried to keep his promise to deliver ‘the best health care ever’ … and then blame the ‘swamp’ (now including republicans as well as democrats) for stopping him from helping the average american….

he is a horrible excuse for a human being, but a very good self-promoter … he will spin this into, if not a win for him, a loss for others ….

Ed Sheeran was in a school in West Point Liberia; it was a very moving piece and part of it is here in the NME piece: http://www.nme.com/news/music/ed-sheeran-reduced-tears-comic-relief-trip-liberia-2026922

A very human reaction from young Ed. I shed a tear when I saw it on Comic Relief and again when I watched it online.

Also, you can quite clearly see the Celtic crest in the report.

Mary’s Meals are very active in West Point so it’s not a quantum leap to guess he was at one of the schools that they are working in – hence the Celtic connection.

Is it true that Ibrox is a dedicated Masonic Lodge? That being the case then surely there is a monumental conflict of interest in a Masonic official officiating in such a venue?

Hope the whole family had a lovely day, ma wee maw would have been 90 the day, she left us on the 23/03/2008, think she held on so we wouldn’t forget her anniversary, not been on the blog all week so if TD67 is looking in at any point hope in time the sadness will soon turn to very happy memories, they might leave us in body but never in spirit ……
