  1. When was the last time we had six home-reared players on the field in a first-class match – probably around the Quality Street Gang days ?????

  2. Henderson in the deep lying midfield position looked a lot better than Bitton, Johansen or McGregor. Hope he’s given a run in team and not loaned/sold as is rumoured.

  3. There will always be injuries & suspensions you need a highly competitive squad pushing each other for a starting slot. It’s still early days yet but it’s looking good.

You can never be sure of Cups, anything can happen on any particular day but the cream will rise to the top in the League, here we go for 6 in a row.

Haha…..cheers G. A very proud Uncle this week….God willing, will be at Celtic Park for next weeks UCL playoff and hopefully get to meet some CQN’rs then too

  5. Neg2- sounded as if you were gritting your teeth there. :-)

The solution is not to buy, buy, buy.

It’s to get in a manager who knows how to set out a team and change it when required to a suitable formation..should it be required.

    We’ve got the manager.

Add a bit of quality and potential…Sinky and Moussa…tweak what you already have and look for better.

BR appears to be doing all of that.

He needs a couple of transfer windows to truly make his mark.

But he’s started not too bad and it could get very good!

  6. Small crowd but great energy in the stadium thanks to the Green Brigade and to some skilful and hi tempo football.

Hard not to feel positive about things.

Next week will be no push over but you have to fancy Sinclair and Grif to do something away if we can get a win at home.

I didn’t see Emmerdale tonight (I was travelling to pick the wee blade up) copyright Thunder Road, anyway, Scott Sinclair is going to be a star but some might miss what BR is bringing to the table, JF & TR signing new deals, BR is improving the players we have, am not one to wallow in the past but one or two posters questioned me saying BR could get this team into the CL group stages with one or two signings, am still wary and would give up tonight for that “shot at glory” but in the long run BR will be a terrific manager for us and I still think he will get us to the party, I will be happy to fight and scratch for third place to go into the EL knockout stages…….. For Celtic that’s like getting a right decent lumber at said party and who once you get there who knows …….. Seville(esque)

  8. Good performance tonight with a number of players really getting involved and making things happen.

ScS ran about like a pit pony — never stopped moving, up for everything.

JF looked fully engaged and wanted to be part of the play — bit to go but enpven now he is worth the new contract.

MD is still raw in the extreme but he was always looking to get involved, he takes a mean penalty and will bludgeon anything or anybody in his way till he gets a goal.

TR is something else, looked a bit moody at the start, not fully engaged then the he scores a superb goal and then his footwork and movement went up three notches. Some of his play was breathtaking.

SB had another good game though he needs more support than CMcG can currently provide.

    Consequently good game.

M/well were hiding for the first 20 minutes but they improved and got very active either side of half time. Unfortunately once we moved up a gear in the second half it was relentless and they wilted.

The foundations of a good team are starting to appear.

We need to build on them.

BR looking for 2 players to finish this stage of the rebuilding.

New GK and an all energy DM are my guesses.

Wonderful display tonight, the team is looking better with every game. Brendan speaking eloquently after the game as well and clearly putting out to the board that he is expecting to be backed.

Btw GB gold in diving but I understand Jamie Walker didn’t even make the team. Must have strength in depth.

  10. I thought our first goal tonight was the pick of the bunch, the run, the lob and the execution were breathtaking, if Barca had done that Sky et all would be raving about it.

And it’s only gonna get better

BR said we are lucky to have Scott Sinclair “up here” and Chris Sutton agrees in the BT interview, BR knows all about Celtic but things had to fit for him to come up here, same as MON, that being Dermott Desmond enticing two Celtic fans, 99% on here would jump at the chance but in real life professional people have to be enticed (Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£Ā£) I think Scott Sinclair is here because of BR, I agree with you he will be a star, still think “if” we make the CL there is one more biggie, over the season I agree with Dallas Dallas who has championed a Pat Stanton type for months and Kolo Toure could be our best signing

It’s all good……… Plus the new Huns are shite :-)

  13. 100% correct TET, that ball from McGregor was sublime the control & strike by Rogic a thing of beauty.

  14. GFTB @ 10.58

BR would have — on the balance of probabilities — gotten us into the CL with the squad we had in June. We needed coaching, confidence and leadership which is BR’s bread and butter.

However it is a numbers game and new players helps reduce the chance of failure.

His work so far has improved the squad but there is still work to do to get us up to being challengers in the CL group stage.

My thoughts are that we need 3 players at the moment.

    GK to challenge CG.

CB who has a physical presence and is good in the air.

DM who is mobile and can tackle.

BR mentions the need for 2 new players.

Maybe he sees NB as the man to fill the DM slot.

Or he thinks we can muddle through with the CB roster we have.

We do have 2 out injured who we paid real money for so the picture will be different in 6 weeks time.

However on the outgoing side there are a number who should be moved on.

No problem in trying to generate revenue from player sales as long as it is going to be recycled as new players rather than bonus financed heated driveways.

  15. 67Heaven .. CHALLENGING THE LIE ..I am wee Oscar...... Ipox belongs to the creditors on

Just in …. THAT was incredible …that is all ….and a big HH to all …off to bed, a happy bhoy

  16. Saw the Moussa Celtic TV interview.

He does really well considering English is not his first language.

Final comment from interviewer got a confused look from him.

    “Congratulations on your brace tonight.”

[Braes? Braise? Breeze? Brace? What is he saying?]

    Good man Moussa.

  17. Terrific performance tonight. Great energy allied to the skill. Even at 4 up every player was still playing as if it was still 0-0!

To cap it all off we even kept possession when we had a throw-In!

I thought it would be better to avoid the CL this season and use the EL to bed this team in. Now, I’m thinking ach let’s just go for it and see how we get on. I can’t see us getting humiliated with BR in charge.

  18. Art of war I honestly can’t be arsed with the usual look at how clever I am stuff. I never advocated buy buy buy but as usual it’s always one dimensional.

The real trick is to build from a position of strength and really focus on actually building a team. Something we simply haven’t done for years.

If Celtic have now decided to actually behave like a football club then I am delighted. But quite frankly they have ripped the fans off for the last 4 years. Short memories abound.

Gerryfaethebrig we struggled to get past Astana. The board as ever took a gamble. We have already forgotten that too.

Anyway it does seem that BR is a great appointment. Pity we still have law well and banker in the boardroom. But hey I know most folk don’t care.

  19. Craigellachie10 on

I wondered whether keeper is one of the positions that Brendan is looking at. On the other hand once Kolo settles the defence down Gordon’s form might improve. I don’t believe that we can ever have had so many changes in defence as we have over the last two years absolutely no consistency of selection.

  20. To be fair i though Motherwell looked to have decent shape about them for the first half hour, i thought it had the look of a tricky game. The first goal was brilliant, great play from McGregor and Tom Rogic. After that it was plain sailing and we were miles in front. Scary to think that Roberts, Griff and KT to come back in as well as Erik and a few others. The writing looks to be on the wall for Kris and few others, i noticed BR always talking about speed, pace and pressing. So many positives just now, long may it continue. Sinclair looks different class and Dembele is getting better and better. Forrest looking a lot better too and looks to have a bit of hunger about him. Easy to forget that O’Connell is so young and inexperienced, he has been colossal so far this season. Interesting that BR talking about 2 new players and who they might be, putting a bit of pressure on PL maybe. Brown looks back to his old self and i thought McGregor was great too, a very underrated player.

  21. Enjoyed that

    thought Forrest was excellent

mate pointed out if we hadnt given Emillio a run out

we could have finished with U20 back line

    Alston McCart Oconnell KT

  22. I will wager now that Brendan wants a def middy as one of his two players, I think he is happy with the defence, when the players are all fit we have a whean to choose from, the other is prob a keeper unless Logan is back soon.

He will not be in the market for a striker imo.

Lurkintim, did I upset you? I dont remember addressing you. So it must be a problem at your end.

  24. Question for anyone who was at the game tonight….

Did we leave 3 up at the Motherwell corners?

    Thanks in advance

We struggled to get by Astana ??

they were 20 games into their season and well clear at the top of their league…. Surely Brendan is already making progress from Gibraltar :-)

  26. Brendan said in his interview, “We are very lucky to have Scott Sinclair. He is a Premier League player.”

  27. Gerryfaethebrig. Then we should simply be better prepared. How many times do we need to learn that lesson?

Don’t disagree with much of your post, I love the way BR is going about things but still bugs me a lot of players are the same that have been there, that’s for the pub as all of my mates give me a hard time for standing up for RD, for the record I have witnessed BR changing tactics more in 6weeks than our Ronny done in all his time but as I said that’s for another day, the players are the ones that matter and as fans we are shallow enough just to want them to keep winning :-)

TET, the bhoy said similar about Sinclair,s goal. I.e. if messi had done that the world woul be raving about it. I also thought the first was the beat. The weighted pass from mcgregor was perfect, as was the big man,s take down and finish.
