Trivia – John Cazale (Freddo) from The Godfather was diying from leukaemia during the shoot and subsequently died before the end.only featured in 5 movies and all were nominated for best picture Oscar. Godfather 1 and 2 – the conversation and dog day afternoon as well as this.

  2. Brilliant performance and a 5 – 0 win and yet there are some people still trying to pick holes in the team. God give me strength.

Have you ever thought some players might not want to play for Celtic therefore it’s hard to get them to sign (unless you offer tax free incentives) Scott Sinclair & Kolo Toure & Moussa Dembelle have signed for one reason = the manager, none of those care a jot about Peter Lawell or Dermot Desmond or the fans, so have the board exceeded your expectations so far ?

  4. Been a long day and id love to blab on about how im feeling regarding our team but the next one is coming too quickly and baw baws is badly needed so i will try to put it in a wee nutshell…..this is going to be a special season.

    Thanks.

Interesting that he did this last week vs Astana but not this week.

It seems a Tim or two went to the crumbling castle last night and posted a pic on their facebook page…they are apoplectic on hun media…

  7. Just in from Celtic Park. Great watching that tonight. Team were buzzing. Tom Rogic was MOTM for me, but to be honest there were many contenders. Brendan comes across so well in interview. Stated he would like another couple of players if possible. I know it was only Mo-T but I enjoyed it immensely. Cherry on the cake when I switched the radio on and discovered Jam Farts out!

did you enjoy the game tonight? hope you did. l was ther with my wife, brother, niece and nephew and we had a great time.

I’ve noticed you use the word gamble a lot when referring the action of successive managers/the board. every decision a board makes is a gamble. you also call others one dimensional but I never read of you balancing an argument .

I stood by the decision to bring in Deila. I was wrong. BR has brought great anticipation. The gamble I’m going to make is to get sucked into it. reason is – it makes me happy and going to work tomorrow, becomes that bit easier. At the end of the day, that is what it’s all about.

    hail hail.

    and goodnight!

  9. Glad to hear BR still wants 2 more players in.

If they are of similar or better quality than toure, dembele, Sinclair and Ajer then we will destroy the domestic competition and hold our own in the CL.

    Brendan is the man.

  10. CultsBhoy - sees right through Lawwell and the Board on

Was coaching tonight but saw goals . Cc

Beginning to look a lot like Celtic!

  12. Great performance tonight

Henderson looked like he was out to impress when he came on, some great passing from him , Stevie G role looked like he was playing.

Too late to go through team but well done everyone, nice to see izzy and rogic get 90mins.

The job was just too much for RD.

I think there was a personal dimension but in the end the level of expectation and the waves of emotion just got too much for him.

He was not supported on the transfer front and the loan frenzy two years ago looked like someone trying to spend budget just because it was there and there was no other available.

In addition I think he came up against an old guard in the dressing room who had a club set up to suit them and the CEO’s bonus and those are two very big mountains to climb.

Interesting that he got so many things moving in his first season after a poor start.

Just a case he could not develop the transition that was required 12 months ago and from the outside we had a dressing in turmoil with half the players in open revolt.

Consequently he had no chance as it was obvious that he was the cheap option put in place because it suited the man running the show at a G40 level.

BR comes in with none of this baggage.

His recruitment was a statement of intent by the man in charge not the hired hand.

He has the reputation and the experience to deal with the dressing room.

The casualties of that cultural change are plain to see — and we probably need more.

I expect that RD will live and learn.

We have not heard the last of him.

Brendan is ruffling a few feathers some “Celtic” fans who are not even happy when the team are playing well, this new “board hater” rather than “team supporter” some might say the Tory board this Wee Fergus that……. But growing up for all the moaning face Celtic fans I knew (young and old) always liked the team winning…….its early days but our manager is impressing week by week

Lurking Huns & unhappy Celtic fans be very afraid

CQN, always a privilege (might be a chore if you read my ramblings)

Good night fellow Celtic fans & God Bless (enjoy the good times)

The Celtic look the part under this clever man manager. I like the way he talks about the game and the club, a supporter too, no doubts about that.

You just know he’s going to write a new chapter for us.

CL qualification, then scrap for 3rd, am no chasing trebles a wee EL run would be amazing …..

I honestly think BR has the MON about him……we shall see but like you say I see good times ahead

  21. weebobbycollins on

I was watching Brendan near the end of the game, 5-0 up and he was still shouting and gesticulating to the players…no leaning on the bus stop for him…

And I’m so glad Emilio decided to stay, he is one of us…

And does Callum play golf? That chipped pass for big Tom’s first goal…wonderful…

  22. Brendan included Lubo and Chris in his interview, which was exceptional, and asked that fud Craigan to clarify his question,BR does his homework…

  23. Today’s Sun has us in for Dorus De Vries (was BR’s keeper at Swansea) and Johansen to Fulham for Ā£2m.

  24. Gerryfaethebrig on

This is my last post for about 8hrs

    BR – praises the fans

    BR – praises his players

BR – gives the media heehaw to work with

    BR – knows his job

By the way only the fans & players can get a manager the sack, the media can try but they can’t

    Good night and God bless

Got back to my local tonight and the most critical 80 year old Bankie Tim I know told me that he is proud of his Celtic again. Thinks Brendan is a fox. :)

Great night to be a Tim. Looking forward to my drive down next wed, and meeting some right good Celtic men and wummim.

  27. GFTB – from earlier,

Really enjoyed it and as you said Brendan has these guys playing for him who just didnt do it for Ronny D. Maybe it is the M O’N type approach. Looking forward to the coming weeks and months, have a feeling there is lots more to follow.

  28. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Tonight was very good without a full strength team on the pitch and the added bonus of having 6 players who have come through our youth sytem , ending the game.

Some very good movement and attacking play , with James Forrest particularly impressive with his new found enthusiasm and commtment .

A very good night all round, nothing crap about it.

There was one point when a high ball was coming down in Scott McDonald’s favour, Liam Henderson out muscled Scott and used his physique to make sure McDonald never got the ball. Liam is one young guy who has no need to toughen up.

If we are looking for a defensive midfielder, if Lucas Leiva (spelling) , is still available, maybe a deal can be done with Liverpool or is that wishful thinking. . He was linked with a Turkish club but i’m unaware if he moved or not.

  29. Embdae got a price on Celtic for Europa League? I’m thinking of going in after 3rd place in CL Group…..but we will be built for counter attacking in away games ,Dembele,Roberts and Sinclair, pace to burn and goals too, i think LG will have to do more to impress Brendan when we go up a level

  30. Ach wtf!!!

    Absolutely loved that :)

One thing that bugged me about our players/team under Ronny was that i thought they were too coached.

I felt they tried to do what he wanted but i felt it was all too precise and instead of them having freedom to improvise and get the best out of a situation they faced, they were under instruction to get the ball off him and then to pass it to him and so on.

Some times it worked and we played some great stuff but when teams know what you are gonna do, there’s a damn good chance they are gonna take steps tactically to nulify it.

What i am loving right now is the freedom that some of these same players have now to do what THEY think is right in the specific situations they face and the shackles are off.

Its not only that though, i remember a game up at Dens Park 2 seasons ago, when the only players in our team that had any pace and could beat a man were Denayer and Van Dyke which allowed Dundee to press right up on our forward play as they knew they had enough pace to defend and recover anything that did get behind them.

Forrest’s pace has always been an asset but when he is the only one its easier to contain and nullify.

Sinclair isn’t only bringing a similar threat pace wise, he clearly has an eye for goal and has an old enough head to drop right out of play and go very deep which allows him to make runs, get on the ball and cause damage.

He must be a nightmare for an opposing manager to set his tactics up to contain.

Throw in Dembele on the pace thing and its all a completely different dimension to what we have had.

Rogic doesn’t have pace but he has fantastic ability and already it looks like BR has found the key to unlock what potential he has by giving him that wee free role to hover about where he feels he can get on the ball and do some damage.

Throw Griffiths and Roberts into that mix with what they bring and……..wow!!!

Its not all about going forward though and it was brilliant to see the work ethic all over the park with those same players doing their share of the dirty work when they had to.

Its early days and clearly some understandings need to be developed but i think its also also clear that these bhoys are loving their football again and im loving what i am seeing.
