Creating a beleaguered narrative, just in case

339

If Newco think SFA board member Gary Hughes is likely to be a thorn in their side due to his Celtic supporter credentials, or because he referred to (Oldco) fans as “the great unwashed” in 2006, I suspect they are mistaken.

Hughes was a member of the SFA board which last year decided decline the SPFL’s decision to investigate Oldco’s practices.  What has now happened, due to the Daily Record’s splash on Hughes’ comment this morning, is that he is effectively neutered on the subject of Newco/Oldco.

None of this is likely to impact on the forthcoming action of Rangers licence to compete in European football in 2011, Gary Hughes has no influence there whatsoever.  But it helps create a beleaguered narrative, should matters go against the Rangers group of clubs.  And that lot, great or otherwise, do love a beleaguered narrative.

It’s going to be interesting to see how the sfa deal with this King/Traynor statement re Gary Hughes…may well give us an idea if there really will be a ‘change of the guard’…

  5. I don’t think it’s good enough to laugh at the Huns like king. The wording of the daily record reports and their attempt to disallow Celtic supporters from holding office at the sfa is, in any other country, astonishing.

    Celtic remain silent as ever.

    It’s frankly pathetic and cowardly.

    100% agree with your sentiments

Why or how is Dickson still at FtSFA, not seen this being asked by media

  7. Norriem it’s not about the daily record. It’s about the fact that statements like “openly admits he is a Celtic supporter” as if it’s a criminal act is quoted so casually.

This is a campaign to ensure rangers receive no punishment for their cheating. To discredit the sfa to allow that and to rid the sfa of anyone who are Celtic supporters.

Celtic remain silent as ever. Too cowardly to take the lead. Too weak to act.

Stay at the back of the bus.

It’s been a pretty outrageous day in Scotland.

But Celtic want you to stay at the back of the bus.

    Thanks for you’re response.

Someone made the conscious decision not to water the pitch at halftime to try and put our team at a disadvantage in a ‘ neutral ‘ venue as you correctly noted.

I would love to hear any ‘ reasoning ‘ behind this decision. We are well within our rights to seek an answer.

It might seem a minor issue to some but I think an explanation should be sought by our club imo.

Seems my offski, had enough, comment the other night was slightly misunderstood

What part of forever did that suggest? Not much,IMO.

Anyway,I got a lot of messages of support-on here,by text,by mail. Most of which suggested that my sentiments were accurate, but I shouldn’t have risen to the bait.

So when I had a wee peekaboo just before cot time and he was doing it again,I just hit Father Ted.

But,naw. The other one said it SO much better.

    PS-NEGANON is right. That’s the first-thing I thought when I read that article. “Self-confessed Celtic fan” oh aye right,like it’s a crime. A disgraceful article,and a disgraceful rag.

  12. 5 days after the completion of a double treble we have the CQN equivalent of a treble single or triumvate from Neg/Weebobbycollins/Kevjungle of blaming Celtic for all the world’s ills.

No criticism of the wackjobs from hunland…Just Celtic. It’s all our fault. Neg- you in particular never criticise the hun, only Celtic.

Why is there no knee-jerk from Celtic to match their delusions? They cry.

Gentlemen, it’s simple, we are well run ( not well run enough for you non-supporting types granted), professional even.

Did any of you even congratulate or acknowledge our players, management or board on seven? If so I never saw it.

The worst I can say is that I feel sorry for you.

I could see my boss’s point, that’s a 3yr medical withdrawal by DVLA. Apart from that,I’m fine. Looking forward to family and friends in little over a week.

    Canny beat that.

Oh,and the women in my family can cook anaw, looking forward to that too.

  15. I noticed that too, the description of Mr Hughes as a “self confessed Celtic fan.” This implies that there is something sinister in being a Celtic fan. The club should challenge the press and media about this.

I dont want Celtic to be issuing statements every other day but this is a slur on all our supporters. Something along the lines of how all of our fans are proud to be Celtic fans and that we reject any insinuation that there is something to be ashamed of. Hughes’ choice of phrase was maybe undiplomatic but pales to nothing compared to many of the comments by Sevco apologists. Let’s see when ex referees get called out for their boasting at certain dinners, or the blatant lies peddled by the likes of BFDJ on the radio and Evening Shark Jump.

  19. Can’t help but suspect that the entire Dave King kicks oot the kafflicks debacle is purely to allow him some much needed cash up front.

There have been many false dawns on here re re the depth of the shit they are actually in. For what it’s worth I suspect they are at least waist high right now, and watching the pace of its rise increase significantly.

The resignation of directors, with the apparent threat of more, at a time when all is supposed to be improving, is generally a telling sign in any company.

Loan signings and primarily youth academy ones are probably on the cards now.

There’s another problem for King which many will miss and it’s this. If, a gigantic if, Celtic messed up this year allowing Sevco to take the title, ( and only by Celtic messing up bigtime could it happen) it ain’t gonna make a blind bit of difference to their finances.

The CL? Qualify? No chance. They’d need to speculate to accumulate to the tune of £30m or so minimum. Them thinking about CL participation is akin to me envisaging standing in the winners enclosure at Epsom on Derby day, as I’m choosing my horses from the farmers field.

The only thing that King has going for him, the only surety in all of this, is the unparalleled stupidity and gullibility levels of the follow followers.

    Very interesting 6 months looming.

  20. Celtic PLC will not allow the huns to die.

Some say that, Desmond was pissed off at the Rangers directors box, so, he brought in Brendan.

I say that it was because the huns were coming back, and, because RD’s SCSF defeat led to 30,000 empty seats.

Last time that the huns were in trouble, PL flew down to England to get them a TV deal.

Having said that, would Brendan be here if Rangers werent in the league?

Been reading the site for years and enjoy it immensely love the stories sometimes funny other times sad think it’s great how we as supporters help each other even strangers your a great inspiration to all should have joined this year’s ago but never had the nerve because I suffer badly with bi-polar and depression I don’t get out much mainly spend my time sleeping I have wonderful children and a Gorgeous wee granddaughter come from a Celtic loving family.Any way I am with 50 shades on this one I think king is going to dissappear with the cash that’s all he’s been after since he took over sevco he is stirring up the orcs into a foaming at the mouth frenzy and the money is pouring in time to depart for King me thinks
