Demonise Celtic and fawn SFA Ogilvie

898

You’re victim of a costly refereeing failure, what do you do?  Celtic wrote to the SFA for clarification.    There was no demand for censure of the officials or a ban for the Inverness player.

In 2011, when the SFA were victim of a costly refereeing error against Czech Republic, Association president, Campbell Ogilvie, took it upon himself to write to Uefa demanding the referee who failed to correctly interpret a penalty incident, be marked down, and that the player who dived is excluded from the remainder of the competition.  The Daily Record glowingly reported the actions here.

The SFA set a precedent: after being hard done by, demand action against the referee.  Don’t just let supervisory processes take their course.  This is the standard set by Campbell Ogilvie.

“An SFA spokesman” also made it his business to brief a grateful media on the actions of Mr Ogilvie.  This was a coordinated campaign by the SFA against a match official, as well as an attempt to circumvent process.

Is this fair enough?  Well, I don’t remember an outcry at the time.  A referee made a bad mistake in an important game.  Standards should have been higher.  The SFA would have been within their rights to say so, although they had no business trying to influence referee supervisory processes.  If only we had a competent administrator who would realise this.

Celtic are within their rights to say standards should be higher now and instead of trying to mislead by suggesting no one in the ground was convinced Celtic should have had a penalty, the SFA should acknowledge that standards can and must improve.

Saying that would shut Celtic up and give them nothing to MORE complain about.  Instead of being concerned by the actions of SFA referee chief Fleming.

What you will note is the utter contempt shown for your club by many for writing a letter asking for clarification, even from those who lauded Campbell Ogilvie for demanding a referee is demoted.  Celtic are the last superpower standing after the Long Cold War, but we’ll always be the enemy to some.  We may well win the next 30 league titles, but as long as Campbell ‘What school did you go to?’ Ogilvie is in charge at Hampden, you’ll know what we’re up against.

Great three points last night.  Particularly delighted for Gary Mackay-Steven.  He, and Stuart Armstrong, are still finding their feet at Celtic.  It will be next season before we see the best of them (think Stefan Johansen circa April 2014), but the early signs are encouraging.

Big Virgil had a better record from free kicks than we had from penalties a couple of seasons ago!

  1. Herbo – the £900M was across his whole business ’empire’. It wasn’t just run up by Rangers.

He is the most guilty party in the demise of Rangers and the effect it had on Scottish football as a whole (not the demise, the profligate spending). The story doesn’t need exaggeration.

My abiding memory of him is his own goal v The Deady Bears in the 65 League Cup Final.A game which featured Celtic being awarded 2 penalties ( wonder of wonders ) and a pitch invasion by the Hun Hordes at the end of the game ( no wonder of wonders )

Meanwhile in Greenock two brothers with a previous involvement in matters Sevco spent 6 hours in Sports Direct last week looking at the merchandise.

  7. BGX your patriotic zeal is blinding you.

So let’s tackle this proof the referee cheated thing and then go on to thoughts on a wider conspiracy.

There were six officials on the pitch at hampden, 3 of whom where close to the incident, one of whom was a few yards away and looking intently and the referee who had a clear and uninterrupted view of the incident from about 12 yards. The SFA are claiming that not one of the officials saw the incident. Not one of them. As the chap from Fifa said that’s simply not credible. Now then I know that you are trying to be super technically correct here to prove your point. I cannot categorically prove that cheating was going on. Well that puts our whole legal system into chaos. Crimes are proven with evidence and with weight of that evidence. Under your desperate attempt to deny this because you cannot bear to admit Scotlands shame, this is akin to saying no one can be found guilty of murder unless the alleged murderer admits it. Even if there is video evidence of the murder that isn’t enough because you can’t be certain cos the person doesn’t admit it.

And going back to conspiracies. All of the officials claim they didn’t see it. As recognised it’s simply not credible. Therefore they are acting in concert here. The definition of conspiracy.

Now we know that BGX’s motivation for denying any cheating etc is because he is a fervent nationalist and it’s highly inconvenient for nationalists to have to admit that there is institutional racism in Scotland. It’s a bit like getting all pious that there are foodbanks in place and blaming Westminster while of course conveniently forgetting that the SNP government has the power to raise taxes etc and never used them (preferring to freeze council tax as a toryisque bribe which of course hurst the poor worst instead). That’s just inconvenient truth to nationalists.

But as for the rest of you who are conspiracy denyers. Well then.

In Scotland its a pretty brave thing to stick your head above the parapet and declare there is a conspiracy. You will be called mentally ill, probably physically assaulted, receive death threats etc. we have been conditioned to believe it’s better not to say it and/or believe it.

That’s despit absolutely clear and unambiguous evidence of its existence. Some examples you say?

    Ok

The Huns sectarian signing policy which existed until 1989 (not ancient history). We were genuinely told in all our media and by governments etc that the reason the Huns didn’t sign catholics was because they couldn’t find one good enough or that they simply refused to sign for them. It was of course nonsense but it was Scotlands official line. When celtic fans spoke out about it we were called paranoid. The minute they signed you know who the medi, in concert praised Rangers for ending their sectarian signing policy. You know the one that didn’t exist the day before he signed. That they did so in complete unity? The very definition of a conspiracy.

The Jim Farry incidnt? Well you know the details. But the CEO of the SFA got sacked because he deliberately delayed a transfer for celtic. Was he acting as a lone wolf? Of course not. His admin teams were at least involved. Add to that the fact that when fergus took them to courts they circled the wagons and actually went to court. They were all involved. The very very definition of a conspiracy. Furthermore the nations press and the SFA etc refused to discuss Farrys motivation. No one did. The fact that his motivation was clear is not the point. The country should have gone into a period of questioning and root and branch reform at the SFA. Nothing happenned.

We could add the infamous attempts to get celtic to remove the tricolour. This country very nearly expelled celtic from the league in an act of rampant racism. The excuses at the time tried to make pathetic excuses (it wasn’t patriotic etc) for their motivation. Anyone who said it was racism was loudly and quickly condemned despite the fact everyone knew the truth.

The whole big lie about the Huns death? My god every media outlet, everywhere has partaken on the lie. We all know it’s a lie and we can even publish adverts about it because it’s the truth. It’s quite remarkable as conspiracies go. Even the way airdrieonians got their name back, overnight, in every media outlet, with not a word why. We knew why but clearly this had been discussed and agreed as a tactic behind closed doors. A conspiracy!

    Dougie dougie? Enough said?

I could also go on about the wider environment in Scotland. The Socio economic racism. That’s all well documented. But somehow we are supposed to believe football was and is immune even though the Huns were the focal point for and irish sentiment and anti Catholicism.

Masons are rife within the SFA. It is widely accepted. I wonder what team they support.

The evidence is clear and unambiguous. Yet vast swathes of people cannot admit it or come to terms with it. It’s felt impolite to mention it openly. We have been conditioned into believing it is impolite to believe in it. So people talk about unconcious bias instead.

Going back to this latest example of the conspiracy. All those officials at once, acting with unconcious bias in unison.

    Wow.

It’s either mental telepathy or its a conspiracy. Take your pick!

BGX will say telepathy cos he pure loves scotland so he does.

prestonpans bhoy, I find it believable that someone at the SFA has sent the letter on to UEFA. There is much more to res 12 that I think has wider implications in European and National competition. Rangers, as was, had played n the champions league and other uefa games. Scotland’s coefficient improved as a result…

David Taylor and Hugh Dallas plus others have held UEFA positions. Ogilvie recently knocked back..,

On Sunday i was as angry as 2012 and Euan Norris’s decision.Twice in 3 years we have been cheated out of this now tainted cup competition.

For me it is a simple solution. We don’t enter a team in their cup until we know that it will be refereed without bias.((a big ask)

How can the club let fans pay hard earned cash in the knowledge that it is not a level field.what is the point!

We were not at our best on Sunday butif the rules had been applied fairly it was odds on we would be in the final.

Tell them to stick their cup where the sun doesn’t shine.

The MSSM have made sure we are the only losers in this affair. Naturally, all Huns will accept the media`s criticism of our club but so too will the closet Huns and the Uncle Tims and appeasers among our support. I would hope a positive side effect would be stronger resolve and even greater commitment from our already faithful support. We need to all stand strong and together in face of this outrageous onslaught of bias.

  23. Actually this must also mean that it’s ok to handle a ball in scottish football anywhere dos you cannot prove you meant it.

    Eloquent and logical as usual.

Howevva…….. (With chapeau doffed to Kojo)

To prove a conspiracy we have to prove that the conspirators joined together to plot and plan.

Unless you have access to secret notes from Lodge meetings then you haven’t a snowball’s chance in hell.

    Howevva………. (See above)

I don’t think it’s too hard to prove that it’s an instinctive, institutionalised bias based on historical bigotry, the culture inculcated at the SFA and especially by Dallas in referee development, training and promotion.

The award of games, especially high profile games and European assignments are routinely given to a core cadre of referees who conform to standard, unspoken and unwritten rules which ensure they are fast tracked through the ranks.
