Ex-ref taunts Neil Lennon with ‘explodes’ remark

1244

I think I live in a different world than some people.  In my world the manager of Celtic has endured an incredibly stressful month.  Yesterday he would have dealt with news from a serious criminal trial after a bomb was sent to him.

Today he is being taunted in a newspaper by a former referee who suggests he “explodes at the side of a park”.  Even for a former SFA official, this is astonishingly poor taste.  The article goes on to betray enormous hostility towards Neil Lennon and, for reasons which appear opportunistic, Peter Lawwell.

Our manager will get through these difficult weeks and will hopefully never have to endure such stresses again.  SFA officials, current or past, cannot meaningfully lay a glove on him.  He can pay their fines and will continue to manage a winning Celtic team.

  4. is it just me or does it seem as though the Dublin based Irish media seem to have an agenda to paint Celtic fans as sectarian? What with the “sectarian banners” jibe yesterday from the Irish Times to others I’ve noticed over the last year or so- is it a South Dublin “D4” thing- its not cool to support Celtic? Support Liverpool, Everton, Manure, Arsenal, Chelsea or any other “chic” Premiership club if you want to be seen as cool? I suppose in the grand scheme of things it doesn’t really matter- but it doesn’t help the image of the club, particularly when its completely false and based on lazy spurious journalism.

Looks that way,but we’re just paranoid.

IMO,not just the press, but the rest of the Establishment too.

An example being the reduction and withdrawal of charges recently.

    They are closing ranks.

    Which is fine.

They all deserve to go down together.

  13. Pacific Pete,

Mate I am not really into accounts at all. It is just not me. I’m not a lawyer or like either so I can’t speak with authority on legalities of the documents; however I do like the written word and when you read through the written word it is quite categorical.

Google – Finance Requirements for SPL Clubs – and see section 8.

See if you read that the same way I read it. It won’t take ten minutes to read. As far as I understand it those are prerequisites for domestic competition.

I think 8.1.1 is that catch all and is pretty clear about what is needed to get a licence:

    8.1.1 Annual Financial Statements

Regardless of the club’s legal status, the club shall be required to provide a copy of its annual financial statements which have been approved by the club members at a General Meeting.

The statements shall refer to the year ended 2011.

Clubs will provide this information as follows –

    SPL clubs – by 31 March 2012

All other clubs – by 30 April 2012

Some times I think the Gnostics & Catharians were right.

    Good luck Stan.
