Migration is beneficial. Even in football

310

If Gary Mackay-Steven moves from Celtic to Aberdeen he will be the third creative midfield player to transfer between the clubs this window. Ryan Christie’s loan to Aberdeen was extended for this season. Jonny Hayes move to Celtic created a vacancy on Aberdeen’s right, and in doing so moved Mackay-Steven down the Celtic pecking order. On paper the move north would be great for the Celtic winger.

This is not quite the top two clubs collaborating on squad management, but it’s as close as you are likely to get. Aberdeen would have preferred to keep Hayes, but with money on the table for a player running down his contract he was sold to the highest bidder: Celtic.

Christie was brought to Celtic by Ronny Deila as a development project. Openings for the creative mid slots at Celtic are incredibly competitive. The risk to Christie is that his development, which was purring along nicely at Inverness, stalls in the Celtic stands. It is in Celtic’s and his best interests that the he plays regularly in an attacking team.

Mackay-Steven has a glorious first few weeks at Celtic but has been hampered by the perennial burden of wingers: consistency. His confidence appears shot. If he moved to Pittodrie, Derek McInnes may be able to get the best out of him.

There’s an empirically established economic fact: migration is economically beneficial for both the gaining and losing nations. This summer’s proposed migration between Celtic and Aberdeen is likely to fall into this category.

Did anyone take you up on the Raonic advancing further than Murray challenge?

It looks like tomorrow will be decisive.

Andy plays Sam Querrey seeded 24.

While Milos plays the in form Federer seeded 3.

The challenge could end up a draw but who if any of them will fall?

No takers. I thought Hrvatski might bite, but, honestly, I think he was taking pity on me. :)

Should be a good day of tennis tomorrow

  3. I cannae wait to see the Bhoys. Very Exciting Times ahead.

Those Down South will go lazy because of the ridiculous Money being banded about.

    Celtic are primed.

With Messi and Ronaldo it isn’t about Money… although it is interesting both are accused of cheating paying due, dues. There is a Spirit @ work and it is strengthening unfortunately.

    Celtic is Good.

No problemo. The Almighty will be back soon enough to sort things.

    Believe.

  4. If that load of nonsense about DD,is ,and I doubt it ,true, then with the comments made by Glibby, regarding Celtic,DD would be perfectly in his rights to bury the scum. Will he?.Of course not.

    People listening to MSM rubbish.

    Where is the new signing?.

Where is Armstrongs “We are very comfortable with the progress”new contract?.

The usual bluster and non information coming from Celtic.Does anyone think its fair to people who have paid up front,to be told at the weekend, the guy has arrived, been for his medical, agreed terms, then total silence from the club.An absolute fekin disgrace. As usual.

  5. I really hate the lack of communication, between the club, and the fans on important matters.WTF is running our PR.They should be sacked. On so many matters, the fans are left grasping for info.

What other customer based industry treats their customers in this way?.

So much going right for our club,so much still hidden away in the Boardroom. What are we,Mushrooms?.

  6. Scottie Sinclair will be even better this Season coming.

He is up for Celtic, dinnae worry about that.

I bet over 3.5 goals first half in most games last season @ home.Nae Luck. Isnae easy when you know the other team are unlikely to score.

Celtic are gonnae take it up a lot… of Levels.

Celtic will get 4 or 5 goals first half, most early games @ home. And take it easy from there.

  7. TurkeyB,

I reckon Stuart knows he isn’t an automatic pick in a BRENDAN team.

That with tripling or quadrupling yer wage. If ye are not a Celtic Supporter, I have no idea if he is or not, well I can understand him not wanting to be a bit part player.

Scottish players as good as Stuart… The Money has to be pushed out a wee bit further.

He is a really guid player. I like him a lot.

    Don`t quite agree , Pete.

Brendan has transformed a fairly average performer under Ronny to an outstanding player.

A reasonable person would acknowledge that contribution and show some appreciation.

At least he should give Brendan , and us , another season.

Having said all of that , Stuart is most probably playing the agent`s game and taking his advice.

    Wouldn`t like to lose him.

We are big fans in this house, did the Wimbledon visit, I think 88.

Saw Boris and Ivan in a semi final in their tight shorts.

Better half was fascinated, but not as much when I took her to her first game in the old enclosure at CP. Big Yogi’s thighs grabbed her attention.

So we will be tuned in at 8am to see some games before the 6 month old grand wean is brought here to grab our undivided attention.

It gives us a chance to have him watch YouTube videos from past games and listen to Celtic songs.

The joy of grand parenting and trying to undermine his Yankees and Giants exposure from his parents.

Surely this means that SFA and SPL bureaucrats colluded / conspired with RFC to obtain a Licence not only to play in Scotland but also to play in Europe?

This means that the boards and minor officers cannot have the confidence of member clubs and therefore should be ineligible to maintain their positions in the Hampden corridors of power and corruption.

The only answer is for the clubs to inform UEFA and FIFA they are sacking the current associations and building a new authority from the 2081/19 season onwards.

I wish it were so straightforward.

I’m trying to Rationalise his thinking.

    All Good for Celtic.

Celtic are going up a big amount this Coming Season.

    Trajectory.

I am prettty sure Broonie won’t be playing as many games as Last Season.

Stuart Armstrong is training alongside…… The CELTS. If you decide to Leave Celtic Stusie. You will always regret it. You ain’t a Henryk or a Kenny.

    Happiness is the Ki.

Maximum respect to GMS. It was obvious he was delighted playing for the Hoops. Just not good enough…. 5 star skill player as well. Celtic ARE obviously going to do a deal with the Dandy Dons.

Something Amazing is happening @ Celtic.

  13. macjay1,

We give him another Season he can walk for free, He can sign for someone in January.

  14. Hugh Keevins is right.

Celtic have the Real Deal with Brendan running the show.

IMO, SA just wants to play fitba as often as possible – Respect for that.

I don’t think he fancies trying to be a first pick in a Brendan team. Broonie will be phased out this Season also. A shame really as he had some cracking games last Season.

  15. INVINCIBLE 'GG on

Battery fading on iPad, so just want to quickly make this prediction.

    Armstrong will sign.

Yes, lured by the glory of CL participation, advancing under BR to the knockout stages and raising his profile on the European stage, SA will put pen to paper

    AND

his contract will be revealed after the Linfield tie first leg

in conjunction with the unveiling of Paddy at Celtic Park before the second leg.

Frankly , mate , at the end of the season I would have been perfectly happy for Celtic to make no purchases whatsoever .

Paddy Roberts staying was the only thing on my wish list.

Happy , though , to leave it all to Brendan.

The interesting thing about Stuart`s situation is that apparently he and GMS are good mates.

Both now have uncertain futures at Celtic.

  17. GG,

I wonder how hard Scott So will try in future games against the racist bigots…I think we’ll see the real meaning of a player on fire.

Scott is a black guy who’s made his way to the top in a racist country. He’s heard all their disgusting stuff before..not doubt still hurtful to a degree on a personal level but mostly I’d imagine a strong motivational influence to do better.

As I say I look forward to his response on the park. At the end of the day he wouldn’t be singled out if he was a poor player.

  22. BRTH

Firstly, thanks for your updates and opinion on the ongoing SFA SPFL Rangers scandal. A triumvirate of deceitful bodies, destined to face the shaming they deserve at some point, and which I’ve no doubt your good self and a few others will have played a significant part.

The only reason for my infrequent visits to the CQN pages these days is to seek out the opinions of a few renowned and respected posters, and you sit very highly up that list.

It’s a bit like the Sunday Post really. We always got the Sunday Mail and Sunday Post delivered to the house when I was a kid. At some point I realised the Post was a toilet roll substitute, however, I still got it to keep up to date with the Broons and Oor Wullie. ( how Scottish football could do with a PC Murdoch eh!) So with regard to CQN, I’m back there again, only logging in and checking out my favourites. Which makes you Hen Broon or perhaps Horace. Anyhow there’s a compliment in there somewhere, honest!!

On that article you posted, interesting in the respect that perhaps, just perhaps, there IS an appetite for a review after all?

We Celtic supporters have been ravenous for a long time of course, and maybe now the hunger pangs across other elements of Scotland are kicking in?

Bit like the PPI I guess. Initially, limited interest until people started to realise they had been misled for a number of years and sought recompense.

One thing is certain. For this to reach a satisfactory conclusion, it’ll need to carry the backing of the majority of Scottish football.

Personally, I’ll be happy to see Regan and his cohorts stripped of their positions and exposed for their underhand dealing.

The Rangers? I’ve no interest in whether they strip them of the titles or not. We will overtake them on the field. I respect the fact the majority do wish to see the titles stripped. I’d rather see the perpetrator (s) brought to justice more so than the benefactors.

  23. If there werent 30,000 empty seats,….

    with likelihood of more,…..

and the return of DD’s pals, Rangers FC….

there would be no Brendan, right DD ?

Stop trying tae distort by, making oot…

that ye were awe hurt n stuff….

the DD’s of this world, don’t feel the….

Celtic pain,…..so, DD, spit it oot…..

ye brought in Brendan, pay him 45k a week…

the SC stuff will be kicked into the long grass..

and, ye hope that another pub team skelping treble…

will be enough to make the Celtic support look the other way?

Well, DD, ye know what…..that’s my fear, and ye could be correct.

DD, I’m sure that you will be aware that, the militant tendency…

of today’s Celtic supporter base is to, crowd fund “statements” into…

obscure anti Celtic news papers that are read by, 2 guys n a dug…

I’m sure you and yer complicit PLC cronies must have been….

rubbing yer hands in glee at, the way that, certain developments….

re: the huns passed by without as much as a whimper from yourselves….

and, not as much as a sign of rebellion from the Celtic support.

    Rangers FC –

Allowed into div 3 without any action taken ?

LNS Allowed without a cheated trophy stripped ?

The same club lie being approved by your PLC’s 49 quid charge ?

    etc,…..

You know what DD, yerself and the PLC, will probably get away….

with all yer inaction, because, deep down, you all must know that…

today’s Celtic supporter base are, too easily kidded and, are powderfuff…

in comparison to Aberdeen FC’s fans, who hate the huns more than we do.

    Anyway,….

    …..off-oot.

And I couldn’t even do that properly as I was working later.

  27. BRTH, I hate to be the fly in the ointment BUT

‘It meant that wages paid to De Boer, Rangers’ top scorer in 2001-2 when they won the Scottish Premier League title on goal difference, had unlawfully evaded tax. Yet the SFA-appointed independent commission did not apply any sporting sanctions as it found there had been no wrongdoing on the part of Rangers.’

We won the title in 2001-2002.

The article is undermined by that mistake alone :-(

  28. Over the years, when Celtic are trying to sign players, they seem to drag there heels, it’s always been the same, treat us with a lot of things with contemp,as for the P R Department,it has nothing to do with them, the culprits are the Celtic Board of Directors, who will gladly take your cash, and you will be told if anything, when we are ready to tell you,I have said many times on here ,some of those Directors , needing to be removed,

  29. VFR800 is now a Monster 821 on

A few posts about lack of communication. Hmmm. The reason there is no communication about Olivier Ntcham signing and Stuart Armstrong extending is because there is nothing to report yet. The Ntcham deal will be done or it won’t; Armstrong will sign a new contract or he won’t. When either of those conclusions arise, we will be informed. Anything else is pointless.
