Moment of clarity from Newco assistant

313

A moment of clarity from Newco assistant manager, Davie Weir on how far behind Celtic they are, “unless you’re spending £100 million or whatever the figure may be and even that doesn’t guarantee [success].”

This season Celtic will earn circa £50m more than Newco, £100m would address two years of deficit. Whereas Celtic are motoring with a worldwide recruitment strategy that’s delivering players ready for the challenge of Champions League football, Newco don’t have the experience or infrastructure to achieve value from a windfall (not that there’s one coming).

All of this talk of cash, on the back of some recently nuanced reporting, suggests Dave King’s election promises to spend whatever it takes are now seen for what they were.

A PR campaign convinced them to take their club from the hands of one of Europe’s richest men and give it to the directors of took so much care of Oldco.

I haven’t been on as much as usual of late, so I may have missed your birthday suggestions …. but if it is coming from you and/or Barry Humphries … I can get the gist, and I’m sure I’d be okay with it …. not so sure what KT will think about it …. but, if I have any problems in that regard, I will get her on CQN, and you can set her straight for me! :)

Went to a lecture last night by Ken Broad … who is a famous underwater cave explorer/diver/photographer for national geographic …. some of his photos were scary/spectacular …… I wont be doing anything as crazy as him, while I am in St. Lucia, but I’m looking forward to getting out for a few dives (I always love seeing the sea turtles and giant rays … beautiful), and the mountain hikes in Stl Lucia look spectacular. Quite excited!

and getting away and having a week with KT …. best bit of all.

been a good week ….. saw emamuel ax playing at a great little concert hall on Saturday …. an evening of all Mozart … even at his age (ax… not Mozart), he can still play …. was a privilege to hear him.

So, life is good. Hope all is well with you.

I thought I might be heading out to Oz this year to see KT’s parents (her dad turns 80), but it looks like they will be coming here for a break this summer …. so, my trip to Oz will have to wait.. Too bad. Love the place.

I remember when I just started teaching the heidie told me to get strap/belt/tassel from JJ Dick, Main Street, Lochgelly :-)). Used it for a couple of years before giving it up. I stopped using it about three years before it was banned by law. I regret ever having used it at all, to be honest.

Brendan sent a message to Izzy who had left us that he was to report for training at Lennoxtown on the first day back at the start of the season. I read last week that Brendan wants to give him a contract. He said that he is a great trainer, a hard worker and words to the effect that Izzy was a solid citizen in the physical sense. Brendan likes Izzy.

    Great to hear that.

Apart from that , in future he could be a great ambassador / scout for us in Latin America.

I think Brendan has a real eye to the future. Viz. Toure .

I should be clear for any lurkers/ new posters … KT is the better half … not Keiran TIerney, who was also recently referenced …. I mean, I am sure he is a nice young lad, but I have not invited him to St. Lucia … dont want any rumors showing up in the Daily Record tomorrow! :)

Thanks for your kind offer of a poisoned chalice . :-)

Sydney is indeed marvellous , but I remember , on arriving here , how unfavourably it compared to Toronto in terms of modern architecture. The Sydney Opera House being the obvious exception . The buildings in central Toronto , I found stunning. The Eaton centre in particular.

Done a trip to St Lucia a few years ago.

Must do’s if in the correct area

The Friday night street party in town – a local thing, try street food and compete in the street dancing :-)

Trip up the Pitons not the mud baths – and take a wee dip in such (allegedly knocks 10years off you – ps very warm in there )

Ps – if in correct area ? Do Charlie’s tours who sells on the beach, not allowed into resorts- very good tour of island, and value for money, covers where dr dolittle film was shot and also get to see that exclusive mountain hotel which is all open plan ( no walls) well worth seeing – even if I can’t remember it’s name :-)

    Enjoy your trip Bhud

The man with no surname spent £17m in 2008 alone , only offset by selling Some numpty (Hutton?) for 8/9m

*He didnae sell mutton, that deal was made to pacify Joe Lewis for the monies bader owed him. Juan Ramos the manager of Spurs at the time said he had no idea who mutton was and had never seen him play.

Give the player his due though, early in the January transfer window Spurs allegedly made a bid for him which was accepted but he refused tae move unless he was given supposedly a 1m pound pay off. On the 2nd last day of the window he agreed to the move.

    Sadiesbhoy… LOL! Scary… but lol!!

Macjay… I love TO for lots of reasons. As for architecture, My partner and I used to have the top floor of the old bank building … was the tallest building in the commonwealth when it was built. Stunning architecture! The lobby was breathtaking! My favourite thing was that I had a falcon that used to sit on my window ledge. So, I loved it. But I spent two hours driving to a trial this morning through freezing rain… so, Oz is sounding pretty good today!

Cowiebhoy… how are you, pal? We are just booking our activities, so your post was helpful and perfectly timed. That Jade Hotel looks lovely! The Friday night sounds fun… I’m guessing it will be like the Friday night fish fry in oistins in Barbados, which I loved.

    Morning All.

I have messaged, e-mailed and texted various folk tonight regarding accommodation in Lisbon.

Not everyone who has been in touch will have been contacted as I have more to get to tomorrow and yet more who want to be kept in the loop so they can meet up or make a decision about heading out to Portugal.

Accommodation in the right area at the right price is becoming more difficult to source for the relevant dates though there is plenty of accommodation overall but it can be out of the way, of a poorer standard or extremely expensive.

So, can I ask folk to check their inbox and to get back to me if they have received an e-mail etc.

    Beyond that?

Up the hoops and to hell with the begrudgers!
