Neither Ajax nor Celtic will be overconfident

508

Ajax sit top of the Dutch Eredivisie, ahead of fourth-placed PSV, who picked up three points in the Champions League last night. Four wins and a draw, away to Twente on Saturday, is a near-perfect start to the domestic campaign, although that was only Twente’s second point of the season, if that provides a glimmer of hope.

Form has been less convincing in Europe. An honourable 2-2 draw away to Rapid Vienna was made meaningless by a 2-3 defeat in Amsterdam in the Champions League qualifiers. Ajax then endured a tense two-leg Europa League qualifier against Czechs, Jablonec, which ended in a 1-0 aggregate win. Not that we should be dismissive of anyone on European form.

What will give Ronny Deila room for some encouragement is who Ajax have faced so far in the league. AZ (13th placed), Willem II (15th), NEC (10th) ADO Den Haag (12th), before dropping those points to Twente (16th). All they can do is beat the teams before them, but they will not have been stretched domestically. Even Jablonec are struggling in 6th place in the Czech league. Celtic should be able to provide a test at a higher tempo.

By any measure, Celtic are not without their problems. We’ve not kept a home clean sheet since the opening day of the league campaign against Ross County, and we’ve won only one of our last four away games – and that was against Dundee United who lost four on the bounce. But there’s three points to play for tomorrow, and I doubt either team are taking them for granted.

So James Forrest has stated the odour letter as fake.

It looks like JPTs tweet where he ‘exclusively revealed’ it was genuine might have been a dig at the smsm. Seems pretty obvious now since he quote marked exclusively reveal in his tweet.

To be honest it went over my head at the time.

    —————————————————————————

Easily cleared up surely by JPT? Not that I want to add to the oppobrium heading his way – plenty seem capable of it already.

So JF says letter is fake fair enough. So there’s a fake letter and Celtic don’t shut the story down. FLO tries to be smart with media saying Exclusively Reveal and Celtic PR say no comment. If that’s true we’re a joke.

  3. I have of course been getting messages from Huns (they have nothing better to talk about) on this latest BO scandal. It of course fits with the racist view of Celtic fans as dirty etc which of course is also code for Irish Catholicism.

Now then we await to see whether this letter is a hoax or not. Interestingly all of the media releases quote the daily record.

Celtic must now tell us whether this letter is fact or fiction.

If fact then once again we have to ask questions of our clubs attitude to supporters. But I will hold my ire for now.

If false then I look forward to Celtic getting after the daily record and all the copy cat institutions. But for some reason I am not holding my breath.

    Silly story. Interesting consequences.

I wonder if Lubo and Henrik have skewed the board’s thinking – cost nothing like what they should have and were proper quality, celtic quality, celtic heritage. I wonder if the thought of them has reinforced the belief spending is bad.

If there’s any truth to this hygiene crap that’s apparently been published then I can only assume that anyone on here defending our ‘FLO’ ,whoever he is ,wont be going to any away games this season and subsequently being subjected to the ridicule that they’ve left us wide open to ? As if things havent been bad enough the last few weeks I cant believe theyve come out with this, I’m totally pissed off at their attitude towards our support

Sorry to whinge. I find this part of our ‘discover and develop’ cycle really frustrating.
