We like Patrick Roberts; all of us do. He’s the kind of player who gets fans out of their seats, an entertaining throwback to a time when wing wizards were wanted by all. But Patrick is more than that.
I spent a bit of time with him last year at an Adidas ‘Backed by Messi’ event. He was very chilled for most of the day, before becoming sharply focussed, “I need to eat.” “I need to eat” was said several times. It had an urgency, the time for shooting the breeze was over, within minutes, a meal was needed to keep physiological objectives on plan.
Patrick wasn’t seeing many first team minutes at that time, but focus was complete. This is an athlete who plans to go all the way in the game.
He’s at Celtic because he wanted to be here. Manchester City were looking for an incredible figure for his transfer, well over double Celtic’s previous highest transfer fee, although perhaps not so incredible given the market in England. Without Patrick’s patience, City would have found a buyer, but Patrick knows where he and Celtic are going this season.
Great to have you back, Paddy. You’re going to love playing centre half. Ask big Nir, it’s an absolute blast!

The MacGregor omission from Scotland squad is a double edged sword. Without Celtic players in the Scotland team, they have little chance of winning, hence the old co0-efficients drop, which in turn affects Celtic in the Champions League.
Let’s be honest here, “they” don’t want Celtic players in the team and it must wrench their guts to have to include them, and to admit, without them they are pure shmerde.
For me, I’d prefer fro us to take our chance in Pot 4, basically saying f you , but that’s just me!!

The USA and South Korea are holding their annual military exercises at the moment. They’ve held them for the last four decades. I assume that any bombs were dropped in South Korea as part of the exercise.

The Danish club had a £2.7million offer for the 25-year-old defender knocked back last week.

I agree.I was at the time thinking we could have taken him on loan for 6 months to assess him,as it does not seem to have affected him so far,but I have since been informed that the Insurers would not go for that.True ,or not,I have no idea.

I remember as a student going straight into work from the pub on a Saturday. Couldnae even think about such stupidity now-honest!
Bit of an administrative nightmare that the transfer window closes Thursday, 1st day of 6 days of World Cup qualifiers taking place.
International players will be training / playing with their countries so not much scope for medicals and contact deals. Limits the pool of targets a bit unless we are looking for fringe or U21 players.
Did Stuart push GMS in ?
