Paddy the wizard, Paddy the athlete, he’s going all the way

547

We like Patrick Roberts; all of us do. He’s the kind of player who gets fans out of their seats, an entertaining throwback to a time when wing wizards were wanted by all. But Patrick is more than that.

I spent a bit of time with him last year at an Adidas ‘Backed by Messi’ event. He was very chilled for most of the day, before becoming sharply focussed, “I need to eat.” “I need to eat” was said several times. It had an urgency, the time for shooting the breeze was over, within minutes, a meal was needed to keep physiological objectives on plan.

Patrick wasn’t seeing many first team minutes at that time, but focus was complete. This is an athlete who plans to go all the way in the game.

He’s at Celtic because he wanted to be here. Manchester City were looking for an incredible figure for his transfer, well over double Celtic’s previous highest transfer fee, although perhaps not so incredible given the market in England. Without Patrick’s patience, City would have found a buyer, but Patrick knows where he and Celtic are going this season.

Great to have you back, Paddy.  You’re going to love playing centre half.  Ask big Nir, it’s an absolute blast!

  1. The MacGregor omission from Scotland squad is a double edged sword. Without Celtic players in the Scotland team, they have little chance of winning, hence the old co0-efficients drop, which in turn affects Celtic in the Champions League.

Let’s be honest here, “they” don’t want Celtic players in the team and it must wrench their guts to have to include them, and to admit, without them they are pure shmerde.

For me, I’d prefer fro us to take our chance in Pot 4, basically saying f you , but that’s just me!!

One of my online horse bets today was 5 horses all with the same trainer ( he had a 16/1 winner yesterday, which I lost) in a bet that I often do a “Lucky 31”.

I was surprised to see how much I had in my bet365 account some time later, but it turned out that ALL 5 of his runners are now “non runners”…thats a first for me.

A car towing a horse box on the motorway, when the Police stop him for speeding.

The Police look in the back of the horse box and see that it’s empty.

The Police then question the driver ” why are towing an empty horse box in such a hurry” ?

Driver says…” I’m taking the non runners to the track”.

  14. Afternoon all.I was thinking that maybe Brendan will be looking for a better class of striker on a loan deal.cant see any class striker coming to be on the bench.Nor Celtic paying mega money for this scenario. There will be good ,hungry ,young strikers out there busting a gut to get game time.Probably a couple at Man C,and Chelsea.

According to Brendan ,Boyatta back in training and will play against Hamilton.Alongside Jozo, that will be our CHs for the CL.A crying shame about the Coatzee boy.Could have been the ideal playerfor us.

Brendan wont sign any CH that does not fit his way of playing. The boy did.

  15. Taken from Daily Rectum,

FC Copenhagen coach Stale Solbakken has revealed Celtic have priced them out of signing Erik Sviatchenko.

The Danish club had a £2.7million offer for the 25-year-old defender knocked back last week.

But their hopes of returning for their countryman took a major blow as they were eliminated from the Champions League with Qarabag becoming the first ever club from Azerbaijan to reach the group stage.

Sviatchenko has fallen out of favour at Celtic but Copenhagen boss Solbakken admits he’s unlikely to resurrect a deal for the Dane.
