We like Patrick Roberts; all of us do. He’s the kind of player who gets fans out of their seats, an entertaining throwback to a time when wing wizards were wanted by all. But Patrick is more than that.
I spent a bit of time with him last year at an Adidas ‘Backed by Messi’ event. He was very chilled for most of the day, before becoming sharply focussed, “I need to eat.” “I need to eat” was said several times. It had an urgency, the time for shooting the breeze was over, within minutes, a meal was needed to keep physiological objectives on plan.
Patrick wasn’t seeing many first team minutes at that time, but focus was complete. This is an athlete who plans to go all the way in the game.
He’s at Celtic because he wanted to be here. Manchester City were looking for an incredible figure for his transfer, well over double Celtic’s previous highest transfer fee, although perhaps not so incredible given the market in England. Without Patrick’s patience, City would have found a buyer, but Patrick knows where he and Celtic are going this season.
Great to have you back, Paddy. You’re going to love playing centre half. Ask big Nir, it’s an absolute blast!

CLOGHER CELT on 29TH AUGUST 2017
I have deleted HITC.com from the publications that appear on my Newsnow Celtic page.
There is an anti Celtic thread which runs through all of their articles.
STARRY
What time the first ” disappointed to hear that we’re not letting Jonny Hayes go on loan ” post?
I blame the internet csc
Apparently port vale are hoping to cash in on the sale of Jordan hugill if he moves from Preston for £8m – vale got 10% sell on clause.
Who is Hugill – exactly
This is the photo that is accompanying the Johnny Hayes story on some sites. I’ll leave you to make up your own minds ;-)

Hayes is just in the door, let the guy settle in.Remember GMS and Armstrong said they were the fittest guys at Tannadice, and really struggled with the high tempo in training for months, we are going to need a big squad in next few months, i hope JH can make an impact
Bada
No it’s been happening for a few years – needs stopping
The JH story is bull imo
In fact my flabber would be gasted
Glendalystonsils,

BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS on 29TH AUGUST 2017 3:29 PM
Johnny Hayes on loan is very unlikely,IMO. But…
Brendan particularly wanted him,he provides cover in many positions. He wasn’t signed as a first pick-IMO-and might be cursed with the worst description a footballer can have. Utility player!
*Leeds Paul Madeley is a prime example of this. It was initially thought that his versatility could be detrimental to his career as he could never claim a position as his own, not so as he played 711 games for Leeds appearing in all positions except goalie. He was also capped 24 times and won more than a few medals.
Re Johnny Hayes. Celtic have made a real boo boo by employing a manager who works to develop players when we all know they should have followed the traditional buy a guy for plenty when he looks good on you tube route. Bring back the jungle and down with those university types.
IMHO – Hayes was bought as back up to left side of our attacking three
We have Forrrest and Roberts on the right
Last season Sinclair played nearly every game (brilliant as he was) a little respite now and again will be good for him – hence Hayes

Would “Brendan” have got the same treatment? Not in a million years.
The difference in the respect given to Pedro is bordering on racism.

Sutton is one arse of a man, that today was shocking and Rangers should pull cooperation with them immediately
Also, when Pena came on, he clearly crossed himself, now not a mutte from the fans but you could hear Butcher sniggering in the background, yet we are the bigots
****ing shocking

These Hun Chumps are the most delusional saddo’s that I have ever came across.

STV news tonight,
PR7 States that Celtic tried to sign him permanent but City said “No”.
In my book Celtic can not be accused of failing to try.

Oh good Laurie from Dennistoun….
My post about Sutton and the Bam Manager,
” What these Hun Chumps FAIL to realise is that NO OTHER SPL Manager has claimed that he has the best squad etc….their manager has said it several times….maybe thats the key ya Hun Chumps as to why Big Sutty was entitled to ask Caixhania ” what Celtic players wouldnt get in his squad” ?
Whit a bunch of tossers !
On the other point about THEM being the Bigots….that Hun Chump obviously must have his ears and eyes shut every feckin day of the week !

Euthanasia Coaster
The Euthanasia Coaster is an art concept for a steel roller coaster designed to kill its passengers.[1] In 2010, it was designed and made into a scale model by Julijonas Urbonas, a PhD candidate at the Royal College of Art inLondon. Urbonas, who has worked at an amusement park, stated that the goal of his concept roller coaster is to take lives “with elegance and euphoria”.[2] As for practical applications of his design, Urbonas mentioned “euthanasia” or “execution”.[3] John Allen, who served as president of the Philadelphia Toboggan Company, inspired Urbonas with his description of the “ultimate” roller coaster as one that “sends out 24 people and they all come back dead”.[4]
Hi Paul67,
Great to see Paddy back…
You describe his skills as a throwback, I wouldn’t disagree with that, though in my book his Athleticism and Effectiveness means he is a great player.
Loved Paddy McCourt but he lacked those two important assets that Roberts has.
Still, PR’s style of play does render him undervalued in the Premier League market. His skills are not necessarily those coveted by the current top EPL Managers nor the Continental ones for that matter.
Of course, that does suggest he’s not a BR type player also…
However, I think Brendan understands Football played the Glasgow Celtic Way and our mercurial No7s.
Also the quality and contribution in terms of goals and assists from PR is clear for all to see.
Welcome back Paddy!!!
Couple interesting debates circulating on CQN last night and today.
The first not Celtic related…
My thoughts on the goings on in the Korean Penninsula are many, but in terms of the debate I think this is a game changer for the Region…
http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-34287362
On the Celtic related one, mainly between Ernie & Trad88 my thoughts differ…
In My Opinion Celtic did fail to invest in the team, this failure did lead to us not qualifying for Europe or “the hiatus”.
I commented at the time that the Board had their Risk, Benefit Analysis wrong in this regard.
Neil Lennon ticked all the boxes “supposedly” required to allow him spend on the Team, that funding wasn’t forth coming. Lenny left. I’m not saying these two things are necessarily related, just saying that happened.
Of course for whatever reason Ronnie never got the funding either. He failed in Europe – thats a Fact.
The most important thing is that this situation has been rectified and we are now in a position to reap the benefits.
Of Course UCL performance is something we can’t buy, it’s beyond our purse strings but we are hitting above our weight and I believe will continue to do so.
Hail Hail
Shane Long ?
Nope, not Irish enough name for me☘️☘️☘️
Windies win second test – what a turnaround – credit to England for declaring their 2nd innings and going for the win. Refreshing to see.
Cricket Quick News
So today we’ve had Stefano Wenswil, Shane Long and Valentin Stocker rumoured to be joining us. I guess there’ll be another half dozen or so linked before midnight Thursday. FWIW I’d say yes to any of the three above.
Denswil not Wenswil
