Power behind the throne

303

Agreeing on important topics, like wages, seems a straightforward business for some. You wonder if agreeing compensation is more of a challenge.

Celtic and confirmed prime target Brendan Rodgers have lots to discuss, not least who will make it into his backroom team.  Chris Davies was considered the power behind the throne when they were both I’m Glasgow before.

Chris was the technician, Brendan’s main sounding board and tactical resource. At 38, after 13 years as a Rodgers protégé, he will have options of a manager’s of his own.  I respect Chris greatly but wonder if Brendan needs a fresh pair of eyes after do many years.

I just want our managerial situation sorted as soon as possible. Find the right man yes, but dithering is counterproductive.

I have hoped for BR since the day Ange walked out on us. However a decision must be made one way or the other.

The Howe saga still was an embarrassment to our club. We were very lucky.

  6. Dont know if I am reading Celtic sites, they sem to be,or scum infiltrators, but looking on Newsnow,so many seem to be taking glee, reporting that Rodgers guy is,”Clap your hands and wait for it”joining Newcastle.

I have slowly been crossing off names, apart from the obvious, not to read, but a few I thought were good guys, spewing out with apparent glee.

    Fek them.

  8. For me, something will die in my feelings toward the club if we welcome him back. He let us down really badly and doesn’t deserve to get back. If this is only about winning then all good. Celtic for me is more than just winning. Just my opinion.

Recent past titles and form suggest we are in a good place with a professional back room team running the show. We will never get credit for that while the media salivate over the Govan Goons.

Paul Elliott wins a header in the 1990 LCF against Rangers. My abiding memory that day is of Anton Rogan running half the length of the pitch for Dziekanowski to have one on one with the goalie. Seen harder pass backs as big Jake bottled it.

    The Names

The phone jarred Paul out of sleep. He looked at the clock by his bed blinking in the darkness. It read 2.17am. He lifted the phone and pressed it to his ear, ‘Hello?’ It was the hospital who said simply that it was time and he’d best get there quickly if he wanted to say his goodbyes. He knew the call must come one day but still it hit him like a slap in the face. He hung up and quickly got dressed. The drive to the Victoria Infirmary was straightforward in the deserted Glasgow streets and he absentmindedly pushed the radio button as he waited at the lights on Pollokshaws Road. There were no cars on the road, no one crossing but he obeyed the traffic lights nonetheless, even in the middle of the night. The radio came quietly to life and an old song floated through the car… ‘But I could have told you Vincent, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as you…’ Paul Hanlon guided the car to the parking bay near the hospital and only as he pulled on the hand break did he realise that he was crying.

Shame on you.Tidbits are not required on such a momentous occassion.

You know how ghosts are supposed to haunt the living. On here its slightly different. The ghost of PL,who is still alive,is haunting the lives of the brain dead.

    Very weird.

That was far from civil mate

Please keep that off the blog

I’m not sure why it wasn’t civil ? What I referred to is documented fact.

  17. I felt betrayed by Brendan, also felt a bit betrayed by Ange but he at least saw out the Season,

However my feelings count for nothing, it’s not about me, it’s about Celtic,

I think Rodgers is the safest bet to continue our domination,

Hw wouldn’t have taken the job unless he was guaranteed huge backing.

He knows the Club, he knows the Scottish game, he is a top coach.

He needs 2 highly successful years to reignite his own career,

We already have a talented pool of players, some might go but if they do they will bring in big money,

I definitely think the biscuit tin days are done and we will speculate to accumulate.

    I’m 75 but I’m buzzing like a 16yr old for next Season,

    OK mate, fair enough.

So without making reference to any individual or specific events, in general, I think we as Celtic fans need to have a sense of perspective in what Brendan did when compared to the private actions of others involved in football.

    I hope that passes.
