Rebellious behaviour will last for years

916

It will surprise no one that Uefa have charged our football club with “the displaying of an offensive banner and setting off of fireworks [sic]by fans”, this action was as inevitable as the dawn.  At least some of our number believes setting off flares in a football stadium is a reasonable action and that provoking European football’s governing body is a smart thing to do.

In terms of protest, “**** Uefa” is not quite up there with Martin Luther’s Thesis or what we’ve witnessed in the Arab world this year.  It’s simple rebellious behaviour, which some of us are compelled by in our teens and a few take a long time to shake off.

Forget calls to self-police, I’ve never seen it work with a football support.  Ever.  If you think you are going to convince anyone the folly of profane banners, flares or even IRA chanting at a football game, save your breath.  Those who are up for the protest (whatever the subject is) are more likely to find your call for restraint as complicity.

This series of protest and consequence will run for years, will split the support and damage Celtic.  Neither the club nor the support has the leadership to do anything about it.  Copy and paste the thoughts you write on the subject, you can use them again without having to retype.

    how about, in the “lennon18” mould… in the 18th minute, against rangers, with the world watching, we have a minute’s silence for the death of freedom of expression.

    it might make heehaw difference, but it might just pose a few questions about why a support have become so ethnically cleansed and sanitised by the government that have been elected to represent them.

    just a thought of a “politically correct” method of expression.

    Nice idea but I doubt the “watching world” will notice let alone care. I wonder how many non Celtic fans remember the minutes applauses at the end of last season.

  16. Murray blasts Hearts interest

    19 Dec 2011

    FORMER Rangers owner Sir David Murray has ruled out a bid to buy Hearts.

    Murray sold the Gers to Craig Whyte earlier this year and had been linked with a move to take over Vladimir Romanov’s majority shareholding at Tynecastle.

    He has been approached by Hearts-minded people with a view to offering advice about a potential bid for the debt-ridden club, who have been put on the market by Romanov with a £50million price tag.

    The Jambos have hit the headlines after a string of revelations into their financial state.

    But Murray insists he has no intention of rescuing the Gorgie club.

    He said: “Some people have put two and two together and come up with five.

    “I’ve had talks with individuals who approached me about the Hearts situation in general and regarding land I own in the Hermiston area of Edinburgh.

    “It’s a 650-acre site where a sports stadium and other ventures could be built if planning approval was granted by the authorities.

    “But I am categorically not involved in any takeover bid now and nor would I be interested at any time in the future.

    “I had 23 years at Ibrox, during which time we won 15 titles and 26 trophies and have no desire to own another club.”

  17. actually, if there’s a paul mcbride qc lurking… technically… if they had spelled it wrong… be that fcuk uefa, or eufa or whatever… would they be able to take action? planting seeds guys, planting seeds.

  19. We’ll sing a song, a soldier’s song,

    With cheering rousing chorus,

    As round our blazing fires we throng,

    The starry heavens o’er us;

    Impatient for the coming fight,

    And as we wait the morning’s light,

    Here in the silence of the night,

    We’ll chant a soldier’s song.

    Chorus:

    Soldiers are we , whose lives are pledged to Ireland;

    Some have come from a land beyond the wave.

    Sworn to be free, No more our ancient sire land

    Shall shelter the despot or the slave.

    Tonight we man the gap of danger

    In Erin’s cause, come woe or weal

    ‘Mid cannons’ roar and rifles peal,

    We’ll chant a soldier’s song.

    In valley green, on towering crag,

    Our fathers fought before us,

    And conquered ‘neath the same old flag

    That’s proudly floating o’er us.

    We’re children of a fighting race,

    That never yet has known disgrace,

    And as we march, the foe to face,

    We’ll chant a soldier’s song.

    Chorus

    Sons of the Gael! Men of the Pale!

    The long watched day is breaking;

    The serried ranks of Inisfail

    Shall set the Tyrant quaking.

    Our camp fires now are burning low;

    See in the east a silv’ry glow,

    Out yonder waits the Saxon foe,

    So chant a soldier’s song.

    Happy Christmas to all.

    I know commenting on the MBB’s children is really not appropriate – but I will.

    The MMB walks into a restaurant with his young son. He gives the young boy three 10p coins to play with to keep him occupied.

    Suddenly, the boy starts choking and going blue in the face….

    The MBB realises the boy has swallowed the coins and starts slapping him on the back..

    The boy coughs up 2 of the 10p’s but is still choking.

    Looking at his son, the MBB is panicking, shouting for help.

    A well dressed, attractive, and serious looking woman, in a blue business suit is sitting at a coffee bar reading a newspaper and sipping a cup of coffee.

    At the sound of the commotion, she looks up, puts her coffee cup down, neatly folds the newspaper, places it on the counter, gets up from her seat and makes her way, unhurried, across the restaurant.

    Reaching the boy, the woman carefully pulls down his pants; takes hold of the boy’s’ testicles and starts to squeeze and twist, gently at first and then ever so firmly.. tighter and tighter !!!

    After a few seconds the boy convulses violently and coughs up the last of the 10p’s, which the woman deftly catches in her free hand.

    Releasing the boy’s testicles, the woman hands the coin to the father and walks back to her seat at the coffee bar without saying a word.

    As soon as he is sure that his son has suffered no ill effects, the MBB rushes over to the woman and starts thanking her saying, “I’ve never seen anybody do anything like that before, it was fantastic. Are you a doctor? “

    ‘No,’ the woman replied.
