Scott Brown, party plans pooped

341

Footballers typically hit their testimonial year well after their peak, but this is arguably Scott Brown’s best season of his 11 in a Celtic jersey.  His Supporters’ and Players’ Player of the Year awards, which he received last night, were a formality.  We all knew the captain would collect both prizes.

The first thing Brendan Rodgers did when he met the media on his appointment was to cite Scott as the most important player at the club.  Brendan knew what he could get out of the captain and understood the importance of setting his expectations out early.

Scott will be 33 in June.  One day we will discuss succession, but with his form and fitness at their best ever, that time could be a several years away.

Party plans were pooped on Saturday but at least Newco won yesterday, doing us a favour by ensuring that we can take the title by our own actions on Sunday, and not potentially while watching Aberdeen and Hearts on Friday night.

Normally I would tell you that the cup final is far more important than Sunday’s league game, but I want to win the league this weekend.  A lot.

No more mistakes, Celtic.

Delaneys…I was reading your tale about your blind grandfather. There is a blind-deaf Celtic fan, Clarke Stevens, who attends games home and away. He sits in the JS stand, behind the goals with his guide/commentator. She describes everything going on during the game-free kicks-offsides- yellow cards-atmosphere-banners- all on the palm of his hand. He says the only thing she doesn’t have to tell him is when Celtic score…he can feel it up through the floor…Celtic means so much to so many people…

BFSDJ- ‘ Last sunday was as big a doing we have had from Celtic, for a long long time….’ where has he been last 18 months….?

On talking about blind supporters, I remember going on the Dry Dock/Dolphin when I was a Bhoy and there was a blind guy from Langy I think, went on the bus, anyone remember him, or was I dreaming.

In those days I don’t think they had any commentary for visually impaired fans to listen to, like they do now.

DD I know you went a lot on the Lisbon Lions bus right enough.

Watched the Hibs game in the hotel pub in Drymsine where I’ve got a caravan, we were up for the weekend. Really amusing listening to some huns that were watching it too about how we just lay down to hibs, fuds. Mrs P was with me so was on best behaviour lol

Thank you bhoys. It has been a pleasure to meet and like you 3 guys. Without CQN, I would not have had the immense pleasure of making friends with you and many others here. God bless you 3, but my prayers tonight will be focusing on another 2 great mates I have met fae here. Mick and Billy. Aka BMCUW and Lionsroar. Proper Celtic supporters that pair, that I am priveliged to call mates.

  18. D66 I went away to a caravan last September weekend with the wife and grandson. Wee Riley never misses a home game. Anyway we were playing Huns and me and Riley (kitted out with full hoops strip) went up to the big club must have been about 150 mixed fans, anyway teams are out warming up and the wee mans on top of a chair shouting come on the hoops. I thought a feck it.

That was the weirdest feeling, watching with Huns in the room, since I think it was Chick Watt and myself went to Ipox and sat in amongst the scum.

As I said earlier. Us Knightswood Tims were outnumbered by the manky VD hun mob. We were better at fitba than them, more intelligent than them, more handsome than them, and better human beings than them. I blame our DNA, our parents and oor Catholic Church and schools for that.

God bless you both, you were both great mates as kids. Magic to be communicating with you both again.

Smiddy fae Langy was his guide and eyes to all Celtic games. I have met them in Amsterdam, Dortmund and Aarhus watching Celtic. Canny remember the blind Langy Tim’s name, but he could drink me under the table. Love him and big Smiddy for their faith.
