If the highlights were a true reflection of the game how Wright can say they deserved a replay is beyond me.

Well said Emerald b
Let’s put this myth to bed.. You do not have to match Braun with Braun when being a centre back or indeed any position, you have to be intelligent in facing an opponent at any game/sport. Be more alert, read the game, know when to challenge and when not to. To many brave men end up injured. Feck that know when to jockey, know when to challenge and no when to back off. The Italians are masters at this.
Anyway that’s my thoughts passed down by father and uncle who played at decent levels.
McFadden and Thompson went into overdrive about StJ’s contribution to the game. Judging by the highlights, they were more than lucky to get away with 1-0.
How McCart wasn’t red-carded (and neither “pundit” called for it) is way beyond any explanation. He should be cited to the compliance officer, if that is possible. To say he was late is not even an understatement.
david17 on
Taylor was flagging in the minutes before he was subbed, he gave the ball away easily a few times, wasn’t getting out to press his man and Saints enjoyed some penetration down his side. Hayes was the correct call at that time. I think Taylor is decent, sometimes good, sometimes poor. Cuts inside a lot but very one footed and sometimes ties himself in knots, needs to use his right foot more often. Doing a job for us but the jury is still out.

SJ had a few half chances and a wee 5 minute spell at 70 mins. Tommy Wright is always going to say that. The pundits on the other hand are conflicted by their desire to see Celtic lose today. BBC Scotland referred back to the League Cup Final today, post match, somewhat bizarrely on a number of occasions, This run is getting to them. The narrative is that we are not a good team, just one that has a winning mentality and finds a way to win.

The issue with Taylor is that he has no pace or a trick which will take him outside the right back. He’s dependable enough as a defender but too easy to play against as an attacking force.
If we’re going to go with 3-5-2 I’d play Hayes before him.

Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on
Storage one that I thought Taylor had a stinker, rarely got past his marker with the ball and passing very sloppy but there was a lot of sloppy passing which allows a fair percentage to be attributed to ground conditions being underfoot:)
What I will say is I thought today was the perfect opportunity for the club to speak up about the health and safety aspect of the treatment they had to endure from the referee, there should have been two straight reds, the tackles on Forredt and Juliene were assaults. The team were like the walking wounded after that game a bloody disgrace and its incumbant on the club to protect their employees or in business terms their investment. If anyone treated inanimate objects/expensive property like that, you can be damned sure the exec would expect the polis to do something about it and I expect if they were not satisfied with the service they’d do something about it, like share details or something, I know I know😀
I expect we may have to make more forced changes for the midweek game due to injury, I wouldn’t mind if the injuries were the result of accidental collision or slips and trips but that today was simply thuggery on the park condoned and supported by the official who is most the responsible to ensure that players are not subjected to physical harm.
I mean you are not allowed a bevy of smoke on the pitch, I suspect you’d suffer a lot less harm than the assaults commonly dished out.

..
I assume BBC stats for possession in today’s match are the wrong way round.
Possession St Johnstone 77% : 23% Celtic
Fouls St Johnstone 14 : 7 Celtic
If accurate that translates to us fouling opponents once every 10 minutes and St Johnstone fouling our players once every 1.5 mins.
Unlikely.
