I suppose it is inevitable, this far into a period of domination, that draws and defeats attract disproportionate criticism. We are not used to defeats, recently we have not even been used to a season without a treble, so reactions to dropping five points in a week have few reference points.
In the social media era, players are not immune to what is being said about them, some of them no doubt reflecting on years of successful service behind them, who perhaps feel deserted when the call was made.
I know what you’re thinking, this is classic paradoxical intent. We react to that which makes us anxious in a way that can only increase our anxiety.

We travel to France tomorrow then back in the early hours of Friday before it all goes on the line, again, at Hampden on Sunday. All while Aberdeen rest and prepare. In these circumstances, this is a tough ask. Tougher still without support, and I don’t mean supporters, I mean actual support. This is a no-brainer time, circle the wagons and get back to doing what we always do.

We have played 9 time in France in Eiro competition and won once, against Nantes way back in 1966. We have lost 5 times and drawn twice (with Rennes) and once with Bordeaux, before losing at home . Seems we can do ok in Brittany but, not so much elsewhere in France.

I’m not sure any real bids did come in – which is nice PR for the club if we want to spin it as “we retained our top players” but I think one or two might’ve been for the off had a substantial bid come in….maybe Ntcham.
While I’m not saying it’s anybody’s fault, it might be contributing to the passiveness on the field.
I also question Lennon’s decision to come out and say it at the time.
Of course there will be unrest behind the scens.
It’s a football club full of guys competing for places.
Success has many father but failure is an orphan.
In the good times, when you’re winning, almost everyone is happy and smiling.
When you are losing, you snarl and nit pick and words get said.
But then you get on with fixing it. It’s not unusual and its not, for the most part, unhealthy.
Occasionally, it goes too far and you lose a George Connelly who was not made for that environment, or Mark Viduka leverags a toxic atmosphere to try and justify his betrayal of the club.
But, for every bad fall out like that, there are 20 cases of players either making up or just getting on with it. Tosh McKinlay & Larsson, Lennon & McGeady, Bobo and Stan: it’s all fluff. You will never stop the petty fights and the fallouts. You do not have to love your team mates but you do have to find a way to work with them that works best for you and them.
Mind you, as one of the few who does not hae an inside mole telling me how toxc things are, I am possibly under-informed as to how serious it is this time around.

Lenny pulled off our first win on Italian soil last season so I make no apologies for hoping we can win in France.
We nearly did it last season against Rennes.

Neil, is all to aware that he wasn’t Mr Popularity when got the job permanently, and even put on record he knew full well St Brendan would be a difficult act to follow, my own intellect is fact based, and not born from a premediated dislike of Neil Lennon that way too many Celtic fans share, or harbour.
He’s won the league just twice, that’s just the twice of asking, and is still in the Scottish Cup, a competition that the current Rainjurz aren’t even in, he faces the top sides of Milan Prague and Lille, I think he deserves our support.
Celtic losing in Europe is as old as Jock Stein, who did so regularly, once with a brand new formation ( not dissimilar would you believe to Neil Lennon’s 3-5-2 ) It was revealed in The Celtic View in 1967, yes 67, but we went out to Dynamo Kiev at Celtic Park

In most cases it’s not vitriol, it’s reasoned argument. The manager is not above criticism. His critics are being slammed for commenting on shortcomings that they see with their own eyes. They are being mocked for being amateur tacticians and so called experts etc if they dare to criticise team shape, substitutions, tactics etc.
That’s what following a football team is all about. Having a say, stating an opinion, watching a lot of games and drawing conclusions. Some of us have attended or watched on tv hundreds or thousands of games over many decades and we might not be experts on all aspects of football but we do know a few things about it. If we state our opinions in a reasonable way then we are entitled to a reasonable response. Constantly sniping at posters is not a reasonable response.

I think I caught a post saying you have the coaching badges yourself, and a head of business at sometime (if I got it wrong) i mix up my posters. If aye, then hat doffed, better qualified than me.
I get it , we have opinions, relevant experiences, however I still think somew of the comments and slanderous stuff about the man himself, are just horrible, add JK into that as well.
I sometimes think when someone says “I coached and Neil should do this obvious thing, case in point it was his fault on sunday that the players contrived to lose the 3rd goal because he didnt tighten it up, is about as relevent as me over at Glasgow Airport shouting at the Emirates pilot for landing the big bird because I used to drive a fork-truck.

Jock Stein’s Celtic had to face stiffer domestic opposition than Neil Lennon’s do. Of course Jock lost games in Europe but he took us to two EC finals and even won one. I was at the Kiev game of which you speak. Jock’s Celtic team played in a Scottish League which had some of the best teams in Europe. Rangers, Dunfermline, Kilmarnock and Hibs were no slouches. Neither were Dundee or Hearts. Jock also had to manage the Club at a time when Rangers had far more financial resources than Celtic.
Neil Lennon faces no such quality amongst today’s challengers. We are now the team with the better financial resources. Neil has lost twice in CL qualification. That’s just the twice of asking. I have no premeditated dislike of him either and was hugely supportive of him during his first years of tenure.
To be honest I don’t really care if the Daily Record support my view. I held my view before them and stated my position. To be honest I haven’t read the rag since ‘Thugs and Thieves’ so wouldn’t have known what their view was if you hadn’t told me. I’m surprised you’re still paying attention to it.

I will say it again.
The individual line comments before , during and after the Rangers game , by certain posters , were disgusting. It was vitriol. It was personal attacks. The body language experts, the mental health experts, Neil and John deserve more respect.
This continued through the week, reached another fever pitch at the Milan game, Continued through the Aberdeen game.
If any Celtic supporter took part in that shameful newspaper poll, and the online polls, hang your heads.
So, that is where I am.
Same when they attack Brown, or individual players, comment on performance issues, not the man.
It is sickening.
I fully excpect now for a few to pop up with sarcastic comment, but I know what they will type before they even start.
