The Scottish Football Supporters’ Association (SFSA), an independent body of pan-club football fans, yesterday launched the first independent evaluation of Scottish football governance, at Holyrood.
The SFSA’s nationwide survey will assess, for the first time, supporters’ views on the current position of the game, including the performance of the game’s governing bodies in Scotland. The research will become an annual benchmarking & reporting exercise looking at all aspects of the game.
The SFSA’s online survey has been created in partnership with Prof. Dr. Axel Faix and Dr. Joachim Lammert, two experienced German academics who have undertaken similar evaluations on a national level in Germany and on a European level.
The SFSA, whose board includes former First Minister Henry McLeish; former MP and MSP Cathy Jamieson and Maureen McGonigle, Founder of Scottish Women in Sport and first female Scottish FA Council Member, has over 67,000 members supporting clubs across Scotland.
The SFSA is Scotland’s fans’ representative in The Football Supporters Europe network (FSE), an independent, representative and democratically organised grass-roots network of football fans’ in Europe with members in currently 48 countries across the continent.

I dont mind …. hell, I welcome…. the Board insisting that rules be applied ‘without fear or favour… I just dont understand why they only seem to insist upon rules being applied to the GB … but when it comes to zombies misbehavior, or cheating , or corruption in the league, they seem to see nothing, hear nothing and do nothing….
Im not in the GB, so I’m not hurt by this directly … but something is not right at Celtic Park ….

Not sure about a knee jerk reaction – read the statement and the main “complaint” in it dates back to the Hearts game in May when flares were once again let off. Without getting into any debate about rights and wrongs and wider grievances between elements of the support and elements of the club, my two observations . . .
1. The fans have been warned and the club fined several times for flares. When will the message get through the thick skulls of the perpetrators that they are dangerous? Just leave them out of CP, please!
2. The leaders of the Green Brigade refuse to listen to pleas to leave references to the IRA out of their artwork and songbook. From Jock Stein in the Jungle days to Brendan Rodgers today, our managers have had to ask for our support to cut it out. Let’s say that again, Stein and Rodgers. Not just the Board. BR makes it clear today he has no desire to be linked to paramilitary messages, what the hell gives the idiots who made the flags think they have the right to do this?
I would guess today’s punishment will be followed by the dispersion of the GB at some point this season. The Ultras will not be given (m)any more chances to damage the club’s reputation in the eyes of UEFA who must be getting close to ordering a stadium closure for us.
Let’s stick to football, we have enough brilliant songs to sing all night without dragging the club back to the dark ages. Leave that to the Huns, they have nothing else to sing about.
That’s it bring in H & S that’ll sort them.

PS I hope Celtic and the Green Brigade are able to communicate and reach a conclusion which enables the GB to remain the GB but without breaking the Rules. I hope for this outcome but I don`t know if it is possible.

I genuinely think the GB are excellent in terms of support for our club. I am, however, becoming increasingly dismayed that a few idiots with pyro or banners that are nothing to do with Celtic are hell bent on pursuing their own agenda at the expense of our reputation and in the face of serious UEFA sanctions.
To argue that Linfield and the Orcs get let off lightly is nothing to do with the GB situation. Celtic cannot control UEFA decisions on these matters, they can control the behaviour of a few idiots. Sadly the board are getting pelters from many who think it is OK to bring my club into disrepute. Have a word with yourselves..
The charges against us at uefa were piling up ridiculous such as they were what with our game against Rosenberg next week Would you have trusted the GB do do the right thing. I think that was what is behind todays statment

Mike I’m one of those fans, I’ve asked the question of the Club, they have issued a Statement on the matter which is still ongoing. Nobody in Scotland outside of Celtic wants to address the matter, not the authorities, not the other Clubs and not the SMSM.
That isn’t relative to todays Statement and it’s not an excuse. Neither is anything the Huns do. Everyone at Celtic should strive to achieve the highest standards across every aspect of the Club, and that extends to the supporters.
Smart move. Short term hit ( self-inflicted friendly fire). Hopefully diminishes Uefa capacity in censoring us further.

How are they going to be able to review this in two games , if the people they are banning are the people who caused this then there will be no further incidents, or are they not sure who was responsible and have said 900 out ?
Over many years I have written to PL and the club about Celtic’s willingness to ban those in the Celtic areas who break rules, I have raised with them the conduct of the away supporters who come and wreck the place, I received no answer to this, thats what sickenes me in this, no consistency or even attempts to be so.
Truthfully I was in the middle of making a post warning that the Board were likely to take draconian action, when the news came through and I just deleted what I had written,
All the Season Books have been sold, the Board are in a position of strength, it was an ideal time for them to strike.
I support the GB but would have preferred if the banners had not been displayed.
I’m not overly bothered by UEFA but was a wee bit bothered at how Brendan might react.
It is very sad & disappointing that at a time when we should be on the crest of a wave we are now faced with this contentious and divisive problem.
I would urge all genuine Tim’s here to be measured & considerate.
We are one Family some of us are hurting & disappointed, we need to stand together & hope for a fair & just resolution.

I cannot imagine Brendan Rodgers seeking out R Delia for info on Rosenborg when he can get all the background from Stephen kenny Dundalk’s manager. Dundalk could have won this game but Celtic have a lot more quality than the irish team and would expect them to win.
It is quite possible that the GB could have been infiltrated by the forces of darkness in order to get Celtic into trouble with EUFA? There were 70,000 people in Croke Park last Sunday and I spotted a number of Palestinian flags among Dublin fans on Hill 16 and this is a regular occcurance i might add.

If you or any of your group are not reseated, i have a ticket for the Hearts game which is yours if you want it. It’s just one ticket, unfortunately, in the main stand.
I have opinions on both the banners, and flares, and the reaction of the board, but they will remain private. What i cannot condone is the punishment of innocent parties here because of the actions of the few.
People like you are the lifeblood of our club, and you deserve to be there for what should have been a celebration of last season, but will now have a different atmosphere, i suspect.
Can’t help you with the Linfield game, but if you need a ticket for the Hearts game, you have one.
