The rascal Neil Lennon

771

What a rascal that Neil Lennon is, laughing off interest in Amido Balde while leading us all down the Kevin Doyle road last week, then Amido pitches up at Celtic Park, complete with obligatory Celtic scarf, before heading for some scans and time plugged -up with on the running machine today.

Amido’s road to Celtic Park has not been straight.  He was released by Sporting Lisbon last year without kicking a ball for them, but he has spent a year in a competitive league playing against some Champions League defences, so Celtic will have a fair idea of what kind of player he is.

Does he have the technique?  Does he have the physique?  Does he have the temperament?   John Park and the scouts will have given Neil Lennon lots of information on these elements of Amido, so there should be no surprises.

This is even more true of Balde than of last season’s twin striking signings, Lassad and Miku (trivia question of the future, Who led the line for Celtic when they beat Barcelona in 2012?).  Both arrived in the final days of the window, with options expiring all around and beggars choosing.

As always, the most important hope for any transfer window is that the manager and scouts get their first choices.  That assured, we’ll do alright.

11 June and first piece of transfer speculation. Held the tide as long as I could.

We have a special Father’s Day offer for the Willie Wallace book.  Order between now and Thursday morning and we’ll include a Father’s Day card, complete with your own message. See the big graphic to the right..

The ASA also say that the history refers to the Oldco, which is distinct from the Newco (last para) – so the interpretation is theirs (deady bears) alone. Furthermore, the SPL and ECA are not regulating bodies – those are the SFA and UEFA respectively. There can be no issue with the Oldco claiming however many titles etc, regardless of how they were won, as this is factual. But this has nothing to do with Newco – if they want to delude themselves so be it.

  2. Hull bid +4 million for Hoops?

Couple of points, 1 hopefully he is worth a wee bit more than that albeit it will not be long before he can leave for nothing and 2, i hope Hooper’s ambitions stretch beyond 1 season in the EPL followed by a return to the championship and football obscurity.

  3. According to the STV figures Sevco will only pick up about £530,000 in prize money by the time they get back to the SPL. Celtic will have picked up £7,500,000 in that period. Add in no European money then they are well and trully f***ed!

  4. Couple of pages on the womens game, referees youths and then the Scottish Cup. No mention of this years tournament just the 2012 which Hearts won. 2 lines on Celtic winning the youth cup.

Two pages on the One National Plan. Photo of Kris Boyd. Who has just returned from failing in two foreign leagues. he has no mention in the story. He is holding a One national plan board. he is not exactly a role model of the Scottish game!

    This document is very poor!

  5. Aside from (hopefully) getting rid of some bureaucracy by merging league bodies (or will they just becoming doubly as corrupt?) and the play-offs I don’t see how these changes will really effect the game for the fans.

The trickle down effect on the first division clubs will have obvious benefits and hopefully increase the game in the 2nd tier – but for things to really change that has to lead to an expansion in the top division over the next few years.

The reduction in 2nd place seems a bit suspect – if ‘them’ were still in the SPL would it have been as much? Now would be a good time for clubs vying for 2nd to make some good money and now that will be taken away.

We now know that even at the top of Sevco it is acceptable to use the term FTP in private.

They also fully realise the “Bears” and the level to play things. To suggest that CW would go from “Hero to zero” with Bears if he said FTP and later was more diplomatic.

It also shows the disdain they have for their fans. Jack Irvine is a cretin.

I see you’re looking for a caddie on Friday. I don’t know the course but I’m an experienced caddie. Whole day sounds like fun. No fee required. Can transport be arranged? Could meet in Ayrshire or Glasgow. If you’re interested, post back and we can sort out details.

gherrybhoy57, thanks for the kind offer buddy but I was only pulling Blantyre Tim’s leg (pardon the pun as his leg is not so good at the minute).

I’ll be carrying my bag on Friday. You should try to get along for the apre golf. If you do make it, make yourself known to me as your extremely generous offer has put one on the tap for you already.

Where do you caddy? My young bro lives in Ayrshire, I’m sure he could provide you with a lift if you wanted.
