There is a subtext to the unedifying comments by West Bromwich Albion technical director, Luke Dowling, concerning Oliver Burke’s care at Celtic last season: Rekeem Harper.
Dowling told the Daily Record, “Once Brendan [Rodgers] left to go to Leicester the treatment he got from the manager that’s in place now is something we don’t expect for one of our players.” Short of curbing Burke’s playing time, as Brendan Rodgers also did, there were no issues between Neil and Oliver.
Rekeem Harper is a completely different matter. The 19-year-old central midfielder is out of contract next week and Celtic can sign him for Training Compensation money. He is coming off a breakthrough season at West Brom, where he made 12 league starts since his first in December. Celtic are monitoring the situation, while Dowling is doing what he can to persuade the player to stay in the Midlands.
These comments are all a bit transparent. They are not based on reality and I would be amazed if they convinced Rekeem Harper he should sign a new contract with West Brom.

MSN report that Rekeem Harper is a signing target of three clubs – none of which is Celtic.
Juventus, Liverpool & Spurs are all competing for his signature.
He might get more first team football with us, but if they are really interested in him then we will be lucky to get a sniff.
Unless someone produces a photo of him aged 10 – wearing a Celtic shirt…

Regarding David UTurnbull, if he has an issue with his knee, then we cannot pay £3mil, I would however take a punt on the bhoy, he played for Murderwell last year so his knee can stand up to so many games. How much do we pay??? I will leave that to the club. Whatever we decide to do, do it quickly and move on. This is turning into a soap opera.

Kid is on verge of making full International debut with Ireland, would have got game time in last competitive game against Gibraltar but picked up a knock, Never seen the guy play but Mick McCarthy & Robbie Keane are hugely impressed with him & are anxious to secure him as an Irish registered player as obviously he is eligible for both Ireland & England.
He would also be a big hit with our younger female fans & give Ajer & Tierney a bit of competition in that field.
We can get him for peanuts, hope we do, well worth a punt.
I hope we get the Julien deal done, he looks like a dominant CB,with a bit of presence, although i geta bit wary when it’s out in public, and he’s not signed….

Caught the STV sports bit with Bawbag last night – a strange one. The piece with Mothers coach…….odd.
Is it coincidental that we are being portrayed badly not only in Scotland (thats a given) but also in Engurland, with both footballing giants, Norwich City and West Bromich Albion having sly digs. You expect STV to pursue other angles first if it can show Celtic in a bad light, hence the Motherwell interview, but its a bit of a shift from the usual English jibes about scottish football in general. As for Arsenal (the real establishment team as well as Tomkins real team) and Ornstein of the BBC pay up or shut up for KT.
