When the wealthy borrow from the poor

1829

Sell fans a ticket, you owe them a game of football.  Whether the standard or result it good or bad, it’s a relatively easy commitment to keep.  That’s what fans get in return for spending money on a ticket.

Sell people shares, you owe them a share certificate.  That’s what shareholders get in return for coughing up for shares.

Borrow money from fans and you owe them much more than a game of football or a share certificate.  In many instances that money will have come from people who had to forgo things to provide you with the loan.  You owe them a duty of care that their loan will be repaid, or converted with their agreement.

It beggars belief that an unsecured loan has been offered to Rangers International by fans group, Rangers First.  If, as claimed, the obligations to Sports Direct have been met, the club will have both the ability and the incentive to pass the securities previously held by Sports Direct to the fans group.  The club’s IP, training ground and ancillary assets should now be unencumbered, who better to have security over these critical parts of the club than a fans group?

Unless, of course, the obligations to Sports Direct have not been met.  Or someone else has their eye on the assets.

The claim that Dave King would match Rangers First’s loan took me by surprise.  This was counter to everything I knew and expected of him.  His swift denial was more consistent with expectations.

There is an axiom in football: Any club who has enriched a PR individual to the tune of £500k in the last year is making a serious attempt to divert it’s fans attention.  Celtic’s PR machine deals with the efficient communication of football information and financial reports.  Nothing whatsoever is spend attempting to lead the news agenda.  This often leaves us on the receiving end of that agenda, but we have nothing to hide.  Which is the way it should be.

Few sights in business or football can be more alarming than when purportedly wealthy people borrow money from poorer people.  The warning signs are writ as tall as the Ibrox stands.  This time there is no hidden Ticketus deal people can claim they didn’t know about.

I believe the most important thing John Collins said was that he and I assume the others were employed to be development coaches. I find that defines our boards position perfectly we are a development club and no more.H.H.

  2. TIMBHOY3,

I will more than likely renew my season ticket no matter what happens to the deid team. If, sadly, they are permitted to play at Celtic Park, I will NOT be there. I have had enough for a lifetime of their bile.

  3. Id say, that if your motivation is solely financial.

Then you have no principles….its clear.

If you have no concern about the bigotry and violence, corruption, cheating, honest mistakes.

In all honesty…you deserve to be shafted, and will be…by thousands of hun bigots.

    Carry on.

But, I think I will let them cheat amongst themselves.

No interest in a rigged game….or a PLC who will condone bigotry and cheating.

@TheClumpany @celticfc @CelticFCSLO As a STH and share holder, John Collins does NOT speak for me and I suspect a majority of real fans

I only have control over the money in my own pocket and if others want to spend there hard earned cash on following a team in a corrupt football league that is there business. I can only speak for myself I have no interest in a corrupt league. H.H.

What makes you think Celtic will sell more season tickets ?

Have you cnsidered those they will lose ?

    I have 2 for a start.

It is dependant on how our board handle this situation,

A statement to congratulate this New club on entering the SPFL for first time will be telling enough.

Now if season tickets go up by the so called £50 discount we currently see, again I will be given up those 2 tickets, why pay an extra £100 for games I Will not attend, and where we can fully expect to be treated differently

Had enough, as have many thousands of current Celtic fans

WHAT IS THE STARS on 10TH JANUARY 2016 12:53 PM

I take it no one will be watching the game on sky involving Cowdenbeath

    Correct in my case.

I will, of course be hoping for a Cowden win, especially after the nonsense that was spouted on Sportscene last night.

Also, if they get put out today it means we won’t get drawn against them.

  8. Green pinta Celtic roll over and get their tummies tickled by the racists. They like it.

Joe fillipi let me get this right. You are espousing that there will be 50000 Celtic fans watching the Huns next season? But you won’t be one of them? And that within two seasons it will all be back to “normal”. Normal being racism and cheating?

And what? You want us to meekly accept it and get our tummies tickled?

  9. Fred Quimby @ 12.52 hrs.

Good post. Absolutely no doubt it will fall on deaf ears by the majority on here.

You see, the ” clique” will play the poster rather that the post.

Good for you, just seems to be a lot of interest on here in matches involving Cowdenbeaths opponents today, people like to let us know the score is and how they are playing and even how their supporters are behaving. Strange that no one ever wants to actually see them playing celtic again and are outraged when that scenario is even mentioned

Season ticket sales will be a good barometer of the board’s apparent belief in the hun attraction for Celtic fans.

I hope they get a resounding boot in the hawmaws.

Sadly, declining season ticket sales will only further our decline. It’s a horrible situation to find ourselves in,and the board only have themselves to blame.

  13. Incidentally Collins is effectively accusing any Celtic gpfan wwho wants to speak to truth as “not living in the real world” p. Well Collins when was the last time you lived in the real world? You have made a fortune kicking a ball around and avoiding paying tax. I think it’s you who doesn’t live in the real world.

    Ha magic.

I should have clarified 6 that go for breaks together.

A mixed range of supporters where I work.

  18. Bobby quite correct. The board through cowardice, stupidity, lack of leadership and lack of vision have put themselves and all of us in an invidious position.

Scotland will soon bury these last few years and pretend they didn’t happen. Any dissenting voices will be treated as mentally ill. After all that’s institutional racism for you.

Celtic will never be the same again. They have betrayed the support and all that Celtic meant. The club might limp on for a while but it will diminish.

  19. Is todays game on the TV? I can get BT & Sky on my new “Unblocktv” box but cannot get BBC or ITV yet

    HH

  20. Joe fillipi I think it depends what you mean by majority.

Sadly it’s probably true that lots of supporters will turn up. But the bigger question is how long they will stay and what caliber of supporter will have walked by then.

The appeasement offered by our board will be the death of Celtic.

Seems we agree that the board have put us in this position. So much for leadership…

My email to PL and JPT…

    Peter,

I cannot believe what I am reading in the SMSM today …. Do you seriously believe sevco entering the SPFL is in “Celtic’s best interest” ….have we stooped THAT low in our greed for money… Brother Walfrid will be turning in his grave ….

If I don’t read a rebuttal statement by Monday morning, I predict a return to 1994, with a vengeance …… and I will be a very active participant..

I was going to threaten non-renewal of my season ticket but oldco, and the old Board, SMSM etc weren’t able to drive me out of Celtic Park and, if necessary, the same resistance will be applied to our currant Board.

As stated in my message below ….”BE CAREFUL, BE VERY CAREFUL” … DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE THE CELTIC SUPPORT….

  24. One way we could have guaranteed that our board didn’t see any requirement for RIFC was to sell out all our home games.

    HH.

  25. Emails sent to PL and JPT on the Collins statement to the MSM. Hope many others will let the Board know their feelings on this issue. We stood up to the Board before we can do so again.

  26. Bobby. There is no leadership from Celtic. Just a complete abdication of responsibility.

The truth is while I have predicting all this for a while I honestly didn’t think the board would be so stupid as they have been. Their complete disdain for their own support is remarkable. That agm where they basically said that anyone who dissents is racism was astonishing. The problem is even deeper than o feared.

NEGANON2. In my opinion many Celtic supporters believed the board had a plan and were waiting for them to put there plan into action. However nothing has been forthcoming and it looks likely nothing will be.So it is left to each individual Celtic supporter to act on his or her conscience. H.H.
