Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. one more question about the takeover…and i don’t recall anyone mentioning it before…

before purchasing something like a football club, it is surely prudent to perform tests of due diligence.

how do you perform due diligence on a club that hasn’t lodged any accounts for a couple of years?

how do you assess the club’s value with no verifiable records?

most significantly, if you buy a pup, is it caveat emptor, or could the whole sorry mess rear it’s 45,000 ugly heads again in a year? presumably duff and phelps must provide financial figures for bidders, but with no lodged accounts, could these not just be a pile of craig whyte?

Just spent an hour or so on a belter of a post. Really, take my word for it: It was knock out stuff. Just about ready to post it then…. IE froze in another window and closed the whole schmeer down. Lost the post, leaving only bitter memories behind.

    Hey ho.

  3. McCoist just on shortbread saying that both bids in for them involve a newco but not liquidation???

    Whit???

No questions in the BBC report, are they just allowed to open their gubs and spout anything?

Do yourself a favour Sally and go and get another job.

  4. celt55

    Thanks for that.

I know the numbers are around somewhere but wondered if anyone had them to hand re.HMRC v Total Credit

If HMRC (not inc the BTC) are owed £15m then is that £15m = 25% or more of total.

In other words,do the HMRC have enough already to block it on their own regardless of what other creditors say?

Also, your post prompts another, equally important question.Am I right in saying the administrators can only consider UNconditional bids?

If so,iirc both bids so far have been CONDITIONAL and therefore can’t be considered.

    Correct?

Bangura has hardly broken sweat in his time at Celtic Park with so little game time his capabilities are something of a mystery. But the guy was recommended by king Henrik and like most of players that arrive at Lennoxtown he seems to had the injury bug. Would like to see if Henrik is right about the lad.

Regarding Anthony Stokes, some CQNrs who are experts on stats tell us that Stoksey also has a serious amount of assists to his credit.

We can discount Samaras as a striker, a good footballer yes – but not a goalador.

Do you think the PLC should have inquired why the SFA did not apply their own rule book when it came to the sanctions applied to Rangers and Craig Whyte and asked for a written explanation or would that make our plc look like the muppets ?

    —————————————————————————–

One of the problems we have as mushrooms in the dark is that we don’t know what the board has or hasn’t done. It’s not like a Tesco situation where if they wipe out the competition they get stronger and richer. The competition is necessary for the PLC to succeed so things happen in the background, I hope….

I think you bring in an interesting slant on the split time continuim analogy, but where I think your theory dissipates is on the angular existence of 2 existing contemporary bodies competing in the same but while at the same time different time elements.

I see Newco as being strictly a hindrance to competition in the business side of matters and the last rites as far as sporting integrity is concerned.

Their is a lot of comment about the PLC not commenting on anything until the developments are concrete.

The SFA fudging their own regulations with regards Rangers and Whyte was indeed something concrete.

We have chosen to accept this quietly.

    Why ?

    It is worrying.

Sets a worrying precedent but one I am prepared to look over for the sake of future developments.
