Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. One of the many annoying arguments from Doomcaster last night was the idea that there are no rules that currently prevent a NewCo from joining the SPL. No, at the moment it comes down to a vote. I’m very wary of any attempt to legitimise such an action by defining the punishment for doing so. To me this is analogous to the old spam problem. At one point the legality of spam was undefined and most viewed it as annoying and sending was best avoided by companies with brands to protect. Then someone thought it would be a good idea to create a law to prevent it, but in doing so you have to define it, and provide an avenue for legitimate commercial email through consent. Result? SPAM increased as those companies who previously avoided it could now send it legally.

I see this SPL vote doing the same thing.

Did I miss Salmond pleading for this part of the establishment, the many politicians pleading for jobs to be saved and the calls for the rules to be changed for a special case?

  8. Afternoon all,

With all the doom and gloom here I decided to spend a bit of time on CTV checking out the Thai Tims visit. What an inspirational bunch of kids they are. Paul and Pun Lennon are a credit to humanity. I would suggest everyone checks The Huddle Online.

As the scummy Hun support sing their bile and try to destroy anything good wherever they go, Celtic and her support are a force for decency throughout the world…something we are entitled to feel very very proud of.

Indeed. I’m sure many of the posters here have donated to the Good Child Foundation, but you know something? Those little people give us so much more than we could ever give them. They make me smile every time I see them.

  14. From the New Scientologist:

The new Chaotic Inflationary Model put forward postulates that two new entities, as of yet only theorised, one is the Hunatron, collides with the Bigotium, in some future event will lead to an explosion of violent dark energy. This could happen in the big cup. It follows on from the “Hypothesis of Primeval Football Strife” or the so-called “Clawhammer theory” as put forward by Prof. B. Struth. In later years this theory was refined in his observation of “rapid cooling” & the increased density of the Hunatron defence- what is often called Wattanacio, after its gallant pioneer Prof. W. Cardigan. Latterly, a Prof. McMoist of the South Govan Univeristy has developed the “quack & gluesniff proposition” & the engineering of elementary skills, often referred to pejoratively by critics as so-called “Frankenstein Style”. The Knight/Miller model we see an increase in virtual entropy, violent forms of chaos & finally in a mutual attraction of similar spectrum’s; this a predicts a single flash of grotesque violence, leading to an ugly outburst of Dark Energy, as indicated by the Manchester Test Case- this has been referred to by Prof. McMoist as the so-called Oranjum Quanta String Theory or as he prefers, the “Sash Theory”.

    Whats the story with all the threats from Rangers, fans & those associated;

“He said Duff & Phelps had previously said they were “appalled” by the threats towards Mr Withey, which have been described as “serious”, “specific” and “deeply alarming”.”

So you have the lawyer above being threatened so he quit his job, craig whyte warned about his personal security, the 3 panel members of the SFA, Hugh Keevins & Alex Thompson the journalists, neil lennon assaulted, both he & others sent bombs.

Then senile Sandy threatening other clubs with repercussions as to which way they vote.

I thought Rangers were big on “dignity” doesn’t look like it to me from here.

  21. The smallest CSC.

A great analogy there with the SPAM legislation. I think I would take it a bit further though. At present the SPL Rules on how a newco can acquire a share are vague, at least to me. For instance, if it happens after the end of a season, does it happen before or after the relegated team has passed on its share to the newly promoted team? Is there a meeting of the 11, say minus Dunfermline, at which the board hands a share to Ross County? When do Dunfermline surrender their share? At which stage in an “insolvency event” does a liquidated holder of a share require to surrender its share in the league (or have its share suspended by the SPL)? All of this would be running through my head just now if I were the chairman of Hibs, Dunfermline, Ross County, Falkirk or the Administrator of Rangers (IA).

What the new SPL rules do is pre-suppose that it was always a fait-accompli for a share to be transferred to a liquidated. To me the provisions on share transfer look more as if they were drafted to accommodate league expansion (Atlantic League/league of 14 or 16) rather than insolvencies. The new rules are a cheat’s charter, making it easy for clubs to calculate exactly the type of punishment which will be incurred for liquidating and starting again.

Like many on here though, I fear that the fix is in.

When they say football here will be decimated if the huns aren’t in the SPL,do they mean we’re going to stop producing Champions and Europa League heavyweights who,if not winning the competitions, regularly feature in the finals?

too much talk here of us being backed into a corner !

    NOT the case

if the others threaten to vote against honesty and integrity, we should simply say to hell with it, and bar any TV personnel from our stadium, hence nullifying any broadcasting and so on

we will lose out on finance, but the TV company will not be happy and hence others will likely lose out too

ATTACK !! full-steam ahead for another 3-0 victory
