Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

  1. As a few on here have suggested there probably is more truth than we realize to the idea: people want to be seen as pro-hun for fear of inciting the infamous horde wrath. I’m a rough prol from caslemilk/govanhill who has experienced his fair share of violence but I would still feel a certain amount of intimidation in the circumstances. All we have to do is think of what Lenny has put up with so heroically. Suits like Dungaster are middle class guys who have probably never been in a real fight in their cotton wool lives…all of a sudden you have the potential threat of savagely illiterate raw meat eaters released from their rusty cages & banging on your door with dodgy parcels

I am not interested in being the strongest team in the league. That’s not what it’s about for me. If it was I would have been a Liverpool supporter in the eighties before switching to Man U. Neil wanted us not to boycott last year but remember at that time we were chasing a title.

No WAY can they be allowed to just stroll about like masters of the universe. They are proven lying cheating bigoted racist fascists who couldnae pay for a lucky bag. They will be mashed up in court for a very very long time if they try to slither out of this debacle.

  7. one point for SFA, SPL etc.

what’s the point in holding meetings to discuss new rules etc…?

quite clearly you don’t have the guts to enforce the rules you already have, so what’s the point in another lot of toothless rules?

To the SPL clubs, vote in accordance with your financial fears and you sell your soul, along with the soul of the game to the devil. You may as well ‘sell’ your club to rangers ‘cos they clearly control your business & thoughts already.

Anyone care to look up the dictionary for the word ‘sport’ ? I guess that page has been removed.

I can’t speak for anyone else here, but as far as I am concerned, I will continue to put my money into watching Celtic. Living in southern England, I only get up to Paradise a handful of times a season. It remains an enduring highlight for me to watch the Hoops play, win , lose, or draw.

I only attend matches at CP, buy any of my merchandising directly from the Store at Parkhead, and don’t subscribe to SKY anyway.

I hope and trust that either the Celtic Board and/or UEFA finally nail the cheats that administer the farce we are forced to endure as a home league, but if it remains a twisted fix, then it will be little different to the crooked mess we have endured for the best part of the last half century that I have been faithful through and through.

We live in a country where young children cannot get the treatment they need on the NHS to fight Cancer but where a football club which cheats the UK public revenue to the tune of £100 million or so simply to win a few trivial football trophies is regarded as being part of the “fabric of the nation” and is protected at all costs by the authorities and other clubs.

These people have lost all any sense of decency they may once have had. Shame on them all.

  12. Headtheball on

All that is going on now to save Rangers is really just an extension of the cheating which we’ve become used to over the years. Therefore, signing up to a newco Rangers in the SPL next season is just asking for more of the same old torture and anguish. Not for me.

  19. How the worms are turning.

By Chick YoungBBC Scotland football pundit Rangers, it seems, are ploughing towards liquidation as surely as the Titanic towards the iceberg.

To escape would be miraculous: but I fear the end is nigh.

Quite the biggest story in the history of the Scottish game has triggered emotions which range from the grief and anger of the Ibrox support to the dark humour of Celitc’s Green Brigade whose remarkable artwork featuring the amended four horsemen of the Apocalypse was the product of talent and man hours.

I did smile at the banners and imitation gravestones on display at Celtic Park on Sunday.

It’s incredible how creative people can be at the expense of others, like the announcer at Celtic Park who chose to play the Three Degrees classic

When will I see you again?

as the Rangers support and team departed.

Meanwhile, the SPL have a new philosophy: turning procrastination into an art form.

The decision has been made to make the decision later

    .

However, while others are in stitches, Rangers are failing spectacularly to see the funny side of all this.

And Celtic fans who are eager to dance on the grave of the Ibrox club should be careful what they wish for, trust me.

Even if Rangers manage to cough and splutter out of administration with a CVA they will be weary and wounded for years to come. And one-horse races tend to be a little yawn inducing.

If you thought Ally McCoist’s team at Celtic Park were a shambles then in days still to come it could get much worse. I suspect supporters of the club may yet recall 29 April 2012 with some nostalgia.

Rules have been breached and therefore there must be punishment. But I find it distressing that the priority is not saving the club.

Scottish football cannot afford to lose any organisation that promotes our game, from Third Lanark to Gretna, far less a business which attracts 50,000 customers to home games.

These people will not spread in the breeze to new adopted clubs, to Paisley or Maryhill or Motherwell or Greenock. They will chuck it. And the national sport will shrink accordingly.

Celtic will have no competition and the league will become a parade. It will be an embarrassment of a competition.

The anger of the Rangers support who marched on an empty Hampden

in a gesture which did little more than ease their frustration and advertise their fury might have been better directed at club owner Craig Whyte.

They seek him here, they seek him there but Whyte will never again be seen at Ibrox and could still collect the jackpot from his majority shareholding.

Unless that is, we have liquidation which would trigger a full investigation into what has really been going on at the club under his term of duty and that of his predecessor Sir David Murray.

Transparency? If that is what they really want then rip the body apart in the post mortem. And be prepared for some grim truths.

Creditors will be horrified at the prospect but it is in truth the only real option now.

‘Following inaccurate media reports, the Blue Knights/Brian Kennedy Consortium wishes to clarify its position.

Firstly, on Saturday evening 28 April 2012, we submitted a materially increased offer which will be confirmed by the administrators, Duff & Phelps.

Secondly, and for the avoidance of doubt, our offer is conditional on a CVA and the delivery of Craig Whyte’s shares.

If successful, this will retain the SPL membership share in RFC 1899.

Realise it’s a bit late, but only got round to watching the game (minus the heart-stopping panic reserved for these matches). Agree with most posters who saw Commons and Ledley as our best players. Izaguirre was excellent, but Matthews disappointed slightly – not much to choose between him and Cha in that formation.

We have come to rely very much on Commons, both in this and in the 4-3-1-2 we’ve been playing. In each case, he’s worth two players in terms of the influence he brings Celtic’s play (less of the pie jokes now, I think). I would have liked to see how Paddy plays there (it’s where he featured when he played for Shamrock Rovers) but difficult to see past Commons (damn – did it again).

I’d keep the 3-5-2, but give Cha another go on Thursday.
