Win over HJK worth at least £6m to Celtic

1408

Celtic will receive £1.65m from the Uefa revenue distribution system for participating in the Champions League play-off round against Helsingborgs.  Add to that around £1m gate money and the guarantee of at least three Europa League games, with Uefa distribution money, you can calculate the value of Wednesday’s win over HJK Helsinki as no less than £6m (all figures are net of vat).  Quite a prize for one game.

Compare this to the projected income from newco The Rangers, who claimed to have sold 25,000 season tickets.  If all sales were at full adult prices (£258 in vat), net income would be £5.375m.

Should Celtic overcome Helsingborgs and reach the Champions League group stage, the club will return to a remarkably strong financial footing.

  1. Personally, I hope we never play ‘Them’ again.

They have everything to gain and we have everything to lose.

I would rather not see them on the same park as us since that very event gives them comfort and they’d be well fired up for the occasion, both on and off the park.

No mistake, they are desperate to be on the same park as Celtic.

I’d prefer to see them in permanent oblivion.

  2. A friend asked me if I could recommend books on the Spanish Civil War. I recall CQN posters discussing this some time ago. Would anyone with knowledge of the subject pass on recommendations, please? Thanks.

I recently read Anthony Beevor’s book on the Spainish Civil War, for someone who knew very little about the subject I found it quite good.

    View from Newcastle on-line fanzine…….

“According to reports in Scotland today …

Toon owner Mike Ashley is set to buy a stake in Rangers, enabling them to borrow his Tyneside stars

The falled stars of Chilly-Jocko football are playing against the likes of Berwick Rangers this season and even Peterhead proved difficult for them yesterday!

Rangers now play in the fourth tier of Scottish football and could only draw 2-2 yesterday.

But reinforcements could be on their way in the form of up to nine Newcastle United players.

The Daily Record reports today Ashley is set to buy a stake in Rangers, enabling them to borrow his Tyneside stars.

The loans would have to go through by the end of the month, when Rangers’ transfer embargo comes into force, provided the SFA ratifies Ashley’s move.

It is expected to do so, on the condition Ashley buys no more than 10 per cent of Rangers and plays no part in the running of the club.

What Alan Pardew thinks about it – God only knows.

Pardew said loaning Fraser Forster to Celtic for the last two seasons was a “waste of time, because the quality in the Scottish Premiership is very poor.”

What about the FOURTH TIER of Jocko football? “

  5. They have or at least will spend a lot of lolly on projected wages to the various haddies that make up their Physio table all duds third division elect…that in itself is an outrage and a complete denouncement of their much trumpeted Mully Pack Yuff shitsem…

  6. The Honest Cover-up on

Before yesterday I honestly felt that the newco were not worthy of my disdain or attention. I had no intention of following their results or fixtures at all. But seeing texts coming through about their plucky draw in Peterhead almost had me in tears laughing.

The last 6 months of gloating has been so intense and enjoyable that rather than feel gloating fatigue I now would struggle to imagine life without it.

McCoist’s post match interview was sublime. As a poster said on kds, far funnier than anything you’ll see at the Edinburgh festival this year.

This new club will inevitably win home games with ease and will achieve promotion but I reckon there will be plenty more hilarity away from home.

It’s also immensely satisfying that the rest of Scotland is now seeing them for what they are. An utter embarrassment to the country on and off the park.

“Not doing walking away” has saved McCoist’s woeful inadequacies as a manager from being exposed. It will be interesting to see if the fat quiz show hosts japes and banter can hold together the morale when their trip to Annan in winter is cancelled for a third time (no underground heating at these grounds) and millionaire has beens have to take a cold shower in a portacabin in Elgin.

I hope our manager takes as much pleasure from this unending farce every time he thinks about that whisper at the shame game!

I wouldn’t be surprised if Ashley somehow is up to his neck in it and has been given no option but to buy in and lend them players.

The poor guy who writes that blog must a thoroughly miserable individual.

The constant “jocko” references border on racism. Anyone with such a big chip on their shoulder can never be happy.

Still it must be tough supporting a “massive club” like Newcastle who have won…eh…er… Well they are a massive club nonetheless! At least that’s what I’m told by their supporters. Although you step outside a small radius of the city and hardly a soul could give a stuff about them.

It must hurt him terribly so thinking of us “jocko’s” being recognised in our hoops in every corner of the globe as the first Non Latin team to win the big one.

I think they are paying Third Division wages – that is why Craig Beattie rejected their offer.

The picture being painted by all media outlets is extremely rosy – with billionaires lining up to get involved in the lowest level of Scottish football, former SPL players moving down to the bottom flight and an exciting jouney ahead .. ect, ect, yawn…

    Reality is somewhat different though.

you’re bang on the money.there. finger pointing wouldnt stop at mccartney and co.

times have moved on. it’s a case of different strokes for different folks in the showbiz/political fraternity.

apparently mccartney still sings some of the best old school Irish ballads when the occasion merits. i couldnt care any less either way to be honest.

during the war it was a powerful rendition. took some guts at the time. not many others dared to sing out loud against the establishment.

As an assistant bar manager many moons ago i used to air these in a mainly hun shop (during marching season) as part of a quid pro quo agreement to play their tunes. official orangies didnt bat an eyelid but it wound the irregulars up no end lol. Funnily enough Dionne Warwick used to piss them off more than Lennon/McCartney did.

lennon’s passion – if the bet was placed with one of the main bookies, then it can be collected in any of their shops. If it was one of the small private railside bookies, then I think you’re gubbed. :-(

Might be worth contacting Ayr racecourse to see if there is some way to collect.

If there is any problem, take your receipt to the SBPA representative.

    He will attend to it.

Depends on what he/she is after.

I’d start with Laurie Lee’s, As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning which gives a flavour of aspects of life in Spain before the war.

Then Paul Preston’s, A Concise History of The Spanish Civil War. You can’t go wrong with any of Preston’s books about Spain.

And check out BBCiPlayer and you tube. There’s a lot of good stuff on there.

    Celtic_First,

its lead by the heart but the head has a problem with the lack of any real action up to now.

My biggest issue is the way a judge overturned the judicial review panel decision, when the sfa handbook did have scope to punish as they seen fit.

Someone posted recently, that if duff & phelps are shown to have acted with conflict of interest, then any investigation into that, will delay BDO taking over and begining the liquidation and investigation process.

I am begining to believe political and other influences are being put on the judicial system to cause confusion and try and draw out the whole affair until a normalisation process has been completed, were hmrc are pressed into accepting the newclub owns the assets and hmrc are at risk of being viewed as over zealous for too small a return.

Political and unseen pressure is being applied, we know this, some judges bow to political and unseen pressure we have seen this.

Both these issues are a source of great embarassment to the nation yet they continue to brass it, msm\media house are doing a great job of keeping it very low on the international news scene.

So, with all thatin mind, I think they will be liquidated, the asset sale declared void with assets recovered and sold at public auction, BDO will then set about bringing all directors responsible for fraus to task, and begin recovery proceedings against all who benefited from EBT’s.

Investigations will lead BDO to before murray took over and further scandals will be uncovered.

The sfa will be forced to undertake an investigation into their own part in irregularities in the game, and forced to reincorporate with a new rule book and the band played believe it if you like :o)
