BT’s successful £897m bid for UK Champions League and Europa League rights is one of the most significant commercial developments for Celtic in years – if we continue to qualify for the Champions League group stage.
This money, £299m per season, more than double the current deal, is paid directly to Uefa. What participating teams receive is directly linked to the value their domestic TV rights raise. If Scottish clubs participate, they earn 10% of the UK distribution.
Scottish Premiership TV rights are currently shared by BT and Sky but they are worth a fraction of what they went for the last time a competitor (Setanta) made a genuine challenge to Sky. It would literally take loose change from BT’s budget to remove Sky from the required list of providers for Scottish football fans. Whatever the next SPFL deal looks like, having two major players bidding should ensure it is worth a lot more money.
The same is true for English football rights. 20 years ago Sky built their UK business on the back of English Premier League broadcast rights. If BT want to supplant them in the TV market, enhance their ISP position and secure a lead in the emerging services on-demand market, English Premier League rights will be the major battleground.
BSkyB share prices is down around 10% today, reflecting the reality that they will either have to pay a whole lot more for the same rights in future, or they risk losing market share. I’d be very happy to dump Sky, which has recently resembled a tax on committed Scottish football fans without the corresponding revenue spend.

There seems to be a lack of Celtic colours with regards to the bottle throwers. Plenty of green wearing amongst the folk standing taking it in.
Yorkbhoy….Might be wrong but I thought Zurawski was on fire to start then fizzled out at the end?

MO’N bought a lot of duffers – what Celtic manager hizny ?
He got his tactics wrong in Seville. imo
It was said that – grown men wept unashemedley when Martin left
I was unashamedley one of them, and when he left…and it was announced on the same day that WGS was coming in…I stopped buying my SB and gave it to my bro.

I’ll be waiting for conclusive proof/evidence before I begin accusing Celtic supporters. We have a compliant media willing enough to take that course of action, as well we know.
unashemedley=unashamedley
sorry

and I still spelt it wrang :)

I could be mistaken… didn’t he get his first goals in the 8-1 game against Dunfermline Nov/Dec
I am in awe of PL’s talents and he’s only on a £1m i reckon hes worth more and we’re not utilizing him to the full. To hes like the holy trinity rolled in one he can run the club, pick the players and team and can scout aswell!!!
Get rid of lenny and park and watch PL he’s “phenomenal” :-)
I see Scot Gardiner the Dundee CEO is fav to become Sevco’s new Chief Exec……that will be the hun who called us for everything after the “riot” (sic) at Dens Park last Boxing Day.The DR describes him as “a lifelong Rankers fan”.

That would be the riot where – PL & NL came out and dispensed instant
‘justice’ by decrying the the fans involved without first hearing their(fans)
version of events ?
That specific occasion demonstrated to me that – the ‘bored’ are in bed with
the ant-Celtic establishment and have already sold their souls to all the devils
in hell. imo
HH
ant-Celtic = anti-Celtic
Kevjungle-i remember PL being too quick to judge on that occasion but not NL?
Furthermore…the Dundee ‘riot’ indicated to me that
NL is the ‘bored’ & PL’s puppet.
You’ll dae and say whit we tell ye tae.
Celtic FC are a rudderless ship and the anti-Celtic
establishment know it. imo
The Celtic PLC ‘bored’ are THEE reason why the HUN will
NEVER be allowed to die. imo
They’ll be back in the same league as us shortly and the only
beneficiaries will be the ‘bored’ and the sheep who keep them
in power. imo

Tony,that is a misinterpretation of what he wrote-something,ironically ,that you so frequently accuse others of doing when reading your posts.
Here is what was posted.

I went in person tonight tonight to confirm after two phones calls to the CSC confirm that the booking I made for the CSC for Billy No’Well was sound, as I had a bad feeling. It is not. DO NOT GO TO THE CSC after the AGM. I will look for an alternative venue that genuinely are able to accept and welcome us after the AGM.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It clearly references the Billy No’well performance,and as it cannot go ahead there,he doesn’t want anyone to turn up and be disappointed.
Bada
I’m not sure of his affiliation but what I will say is that he was very receptive to calls for donations during the bucket collection for wee Oscar. I believe it was him who asked for those collecting to actually board the Dundee FC team bus so that the players/officials of the club could make their own personal contributions.
Sorry fella – canny find the link :(
I recall watching NL on Scotland Today the next night say stuff like
“These fans will not be welcome to CP again after their conduct.”
It was also on the front page of the Evening Times the next day
with ‘both’ PL and NL condemning Celtic’s fans.
Stupit auld fogey canny provide the links – CSC
Well the last line in the post does leave the CSC in a bad lite don’t you think? Or am I reading that wrong too? I could be wrong, but as I read it, he is saying the CSC WILL NOT WELCOME THEM, I can only make my mind up what he posted, and how I read it, please explain where I have miss read this post, as it seems you are his mouth piece on this post, (and my stalker) <——— humor.
TONYDONNELLY67
Not at all,bud. I just think you have the wrong end of the stick on this.
He had planned a wee show wi Billy No’Well,and had told everyone it was all arranged for the CSC.
Seems that has fallen through a bit late on,and he will try to find another suitable venue.
As I said,the advice not to turn up to the CSC is aimed solely at those who were going,expecting to see Billy.
I doubt he would say that in other circumstances,they were marvellous hosts a few weeks back. Thoroughly enjoyed it-and that may well be why it was the original choice!
Btw,I accept the use of the word welcome could be viewed as pejorative.
I suppose you could say Joe Ledley ghosted into the box a couple of times on Saturday, and scored 2 ghouls.
Bmcw
As I have said many times not all people read posts or see them as each other, his was a short cut to what you posted, now it’s explained, it clears my thoughts on his post, no problem.
Good morning fellow Celts- sunny and cold in Renfrewshire
Soooo Mr Big has finally given local feds the ok to investigate Whyte & Green links to the tribute act
Writing stuff down frequently fails to convey the meaning behind the words.
You spent your winnings on wine women and song yet?
Or are you just planning to fritter it away?
Bmcw
Yes I did that, and squandered the rest ;)
Yorkbhoy,
It was the last weekend in August when majic bagged his first goals. But you are right, twas against the pars.
The first game I seen him in the flesh was the Bratislava return tie. Looked sharp as a tack to me.
The Battered Bunnet
I believe you when you say you have spoken to Lawwell etc and that he has never used words like ‘profound’ and ‘phenomenal’ when trying to sign a player – now, I may have got the wrong end of the stick here as I’ve not read the entire blog but its a bit of a strange tactic all the same given that he is not our player and a very public announcement that we will try to sign him next year leaves plenty of scope for sides willing to spend silly money to step in and offer him 2x what we were planning to?
