Celtic 5-0 Hearts

366

It was the Gary Hooper show as a five goal performance by Scottish football’s top scorer this season lit up a wet and windy Celtic Park on trophy day.  Two poachers’ goals inside the opening 8 minutes had the capacity crowd celebrating.  The opener came after Hearts’ keeper Jamie MacDonald saved a Kris Commons shot but Hooper was on hand to knock home the rebound.

The crowd had only just settled from that goal when Georgios Samaras broke down the left channel and squared a pass for Hooper to knock into the empty net.

Celtic were awarded a penalty six minutes before the break when Joe Ledley had his ankle clipped inside the box.  Gary Hooper, not a prodigious scorer from the spot, smashed the ball straight down the middle and into the net.

David Templeton was unable to hit the target midway through the second half with what turned out to be Hearts only attempt at goal all game.

Hearts conceded cheaply on 66 minutes when Kris Commons found the unmarked Hooper inside the box who gratefully converted for his fourth.

By now it was all about whether we would see Hooper score a fifth, a feat most of us had never witnessed by a Celtic player before.  He duly obliged two minutes from time when he rounded the exposed MacDonald and slotted the ball home before the late-arriving surge of Hearts defenders.

  5. Just getting a chance now to watch the game after a long nightshift. Ignoring the celebrations surrounding this game so far after 20 mins I’ve seen two clear as day poor offside decisions, the ref allowing a retake of a throw in and a hearts player avoid a clear 2nd yellow i suspect because it’s so early in the game, which is no excuse. Very poor officiating should be brought to attention and not ignored just because it’s the end of the season

The major downside for us is that drama like that in the EPL being transmitted live around the world will keep the overseas TV rights sky high for many seasons to come.

Come on Platini….let’s be ‘avin’ ye!

Whats the score with this dreambox thingy- you plug it into your interweb and pay Sky £20 a month and you get all the channels?- even ESPN?

  10. Gary Neville has just said that today just show’s that hands down the EPL is the best league in the world for talent and excitement! Now then Gary today was amazing i’ll give you; but best league in the world my arse!!! the team relegated in la liga would give most of the bottom half of the EPL a roasting

McTall – aye, United didn’t really try home & away against Athletic Bilbao. They were more concerned about the EPL….!

Anyway should be a good night at work tonight.

Glad to be a Tim. Cannot imagine what it must feel like to have waited 44 years.

  13. Think assistant referee on main stand side was a certain Mr Murphy, Walter told me :)

  14. What’s the score with the medals, I thought the players had to play in at least 25% of the games, quite a few of the players getting a medal today didn’t.

Rumour – Murray in court injunction to have Mark Daly prog stopped. Evidence he hired private dick to hack Fergus phone to gazump bids.

  16. Just watched the Man City fans leaving the stadium. Every one of them looked like they had just woke up with a hangover and had been sent to the shops to get milk or something. You have just one the league do you not know how to celebrate.

Obviously not. Seriously. I was happy for them and have no interest in any English team really but what a glum bunch.

Sky don’t get a penny. You rig up the Dreambox like you would a sky box. You go to a card sharing site that you pay £20 for the full Sky package and Espn. You will then be sent a file to your email address with the unlock code. You then twin your Laptop / pc to the Dreabox via an ethernet cable and copy/paste the file into the relevant area on the dreambox. All channels on the Sky Premium package (€70 + in Ireland) will be unscrambled.

the dreambox is a satellite (or cable) receiver just like your sky box at home with a user interface a bit like a pc so to speak

you wire it to your satellite dish, and connect it to your router

sky sports and espn use nagra 3(i think) software keys to scramble their channels, these keys are constantly being changed , thats why you need a card from sky

but you can pay a provider to send you these files over your internet connection, you make a minor change to the software in your dreambox and hey presto, you are wired up for sky sports/espn and other scrambled channels

    hope that makes some sense

  19. Evening ladles and jellyspoons,

Great day to be a Celtic fan. Terrific performance today, Neil has create a very good team, capable of being great in years to come.

I’m way behind on this and sure it must have been discussed on CQN already, but there are huge rumours that Mark Daly’s documentary on May 23rd will allege Murray tapped wee Fergus’ phone. Dynamite if true.

  20. Very surprised how Jaroslaw Fojut went.

Polish media say what was published on your websites. No more news. Player said nothing until now.

  21. Snake Plissken on

Tapping Fergus’ phone to stop bids for Celtic?

That would be the lowest of the low.

    Dignity indeed.

  22. Snake Plissken on

Oh so it is supposed to be he tapped the phone to gazump bids for players.

Hell of a story if it is true.

Mr Thomas Murphy in fact. The same spud that didnt flag the Accies goal offside a few years back. Same name as my grandad but please dont blow that abt!!

  25. Alistair Lamont’s report on BBC Scotland ends with the line ‘one way or another, Rangers have found a buyer’.

One way or another Alistair, Rangers have found someone with a bid acceptable to the administrators, and if the creditors do not accept the CVA on June 10, one way or another, Green would not be the buyer.

Tell the truth BBC, not what you would like to see happen. Liar too much?
