Celtic 5-0 Hearts

366

It was the Gary Hooper show as a five goal performance by Scottish football’s top scorer this season lit up a wet and windy Celtic Park on trophy day.  Two poachers’ goals inside the opening 8 minutes had the capacity crowd celebrating.  The opener came after Hearts’ keeper Jamie MacDonald saved a Kris Commons shot but Hooper was on hand to knock home the rebound.

The crowd had only just settled from that goal when Georgios Samaras broke down the left channel and squared a pass for Hooper to knock into the empty net.

Celtic were awarded a penalty six minutes before the break when Joe Ledley had his ankle clipped inside the box.  Gary Hooper, not a prodigious scorer from the spot, smashed the ball straight down the middle and into the net.

David Templeton was unable to hit the target midway through the second half with what turned out to be Hearts only attempt at goal all game.

Hearts conceded cheaply on 66 minutes when Kris Commons found the unmarked Hooper inside the box who gratefully converted for his fourth.

By now it was all about whether we would see Hooper score a fifth, a feat most of us had never witnessed by a Celtic player before.  He duly obliged two minutes from time when he rounded the exposed MacDonald and slotted the ball home before the late-arriving surge of Hearts defenders.

Thing is, as far as I can see, there are multiple ‘buyers’ all investing an average of just under 500 000 each. What are the chances they will all still want to go ahead when they see the state of the accounts? Do they ALL have to accept due diligence?

Also, apparently Mr green recently registered a company whose line of business has not yet been made clear. Co name is 5088. Not sure what the 50 refers to……

Fojut has a serious injury we dont want another player weve signed who we need to nurse back to full fitness for months and months do we?

  3. Magnificent today, simply magnificent.

Congrats to Neil and all the staff for a 5* performance.

  4. That’s why we’re Champions!

Excellent display all round today. My MOTM, Gary Hooper obviously! On the downside, Kris Commons and the officiating. Kris still lacking the creative spark and eye for goal he had last season but I guess I’m being harsh on the day we were crowned Champs. Great to see Beram back on the park and Lenny honouring the green Brigade after the trophy presentation.

I cannot wait for next season.

I thought Commons was getting back to his old self until he started to go off the boil in the second half before he was subbed. Also Sammi was fantastic – though why he didn’t head that cross in from a few yards I’ll never know

Well done Celtic,I’m so happy for Neil Lennon who has defeated the axis of evil which desperately tried its hardest to force him out a loser,he can build a team from scratch and turn it into winners and also has the magic touch to turn a team into winners whilst suffering a heavy points differential due to injuries into winners, its going to be interesting now to see what he does with a core of experienced yet still young winners,he must be backed to bring in quality that can handle Europe to build on domestic success.

Well done Neil, his backroom staff and players, let’s keep hold of this core now,any of them would be mad to leave now.

As for Man City, being an Oasis fan I’m pleased for them their team has done it after the support the members of the band has shown to Celtic over the years, besides the City fans angle the EPL is gross and I have little interest in it.

Aye, he wasn’t too bad first half but for me he’s not the player we had last season. As for Sammy, what was he thinking!? Still he was excellent today and didn’t give the Jammed Farts a minute’s peace.

cva or newco, no matter, i dont think any of these potential hun suitors has read the uefa rule book on these matters

either way they are looking at some barren years with no european competition, a season of no transfer activity AND Lizzy wants her bucks back. it’s not only soap these trolls dodge, PAYE YOUR DUES !!!

    bye bye orcs

No chance of a CVA so Newco only option (if anything at all that is).

Can anyone explain to me how transferring assets to a Newco will allow the administrators to justify that they got the best deal for creditors???

    Am I just thick?

  17. Post match discussion in pub. Last Celtic player to score 5 goals? I reckoned it was Dixie Deans (6 goals) v Jags

  18. Maybe ‘tranferring’ not correct, purchase @ £small million more accurate?

  19. So happy with the performance today and the post-match celebrations and speeches I have cracked open the extra strong Schnapps. I may be absent for some days…

Hail Hail to all my fellow Celtic fans across the globe. I love you all, even if we’ve never met.

I agree, but he has been getting better by the week and his ability to switch the play quickly out to the wings makes a big difference. Also he’s getting the ball off opponents and releasing it quickly to good effect – namely Hooper’s third against the Huns. We need that type of player (who doesn’t? ) and whether it’s him or someone next season (did I just type that?) else I don’t know

If fat Sally is to be believed and no one at the club informed him of the SFA panel members then that would suggest how ill thought of he is in that club. Therefore why would the “new owner” accept him at his door as his first foot.

  26. Celtic Wiki:

The small, squat Deans possessed incredible strength and energy and he continued to terrorise defenders during the mid 70’s. On November 17th 1973 he hit six goals in a 8-0 thrashing of Partick Thistle when he ran Jimmy McGrory’s record of eight goals in one game very close. On December 22nd he also scored four against Falkirk in the 6-0 thrashing of Falkirk at Parkhead.
