  2. CELTICDAWN.

Ask again after our next three games, which are all away. I suspect we have a wee bit to go yet.

  3. There must be some good young French ,German ,Managers out there with a decent pedigree, who would jump at the chance of being the first team coach. at Celtic Football Club.

  4. A few things as I’m reading through –

I don’t want or expect Lennon to leave. That’s not how football works. For one, he will think (or hope) he can turn it around so why should he quit, he has never been a quitter.

Also, we should have faith in our board to make the right decisions at the right time. That’s why the big money is there – and if that’s not the reason give me a shout :)

Finally – I’m happy for him to be recompensed handsomely for the work he’s done for us but a mutual agreement should be announced

I will be interested in The message coming from Paul67 tomorrow – that was rubbish but let’s get behind the team for Sunday

Or sack the manager and the board !!!

Probably not the later so Ra ra ra for Sunday then

I get that and I do not expect any drama before Sunday

But the amount of posters now accepting we have a problem must get acknowledged by Paul67

But Peter will slip Paul67 a wee message that he will feed us tomorrow

In fairness to Paul67 he will be as disappointed as the rest of us – but his message will be kept on a leash

The biggest problem we have at Celtic will not get highlighted

Removing NL is a sad day for Celtic he is a club legend but his time has come

Identifying a replacement is fairly easy (we can all nominate a first second third choice)

But the problem is getting them to come Why ?

Well All the usual stuff that we are aware of

    And ……….

Well rumour has it Peter is difficult to work for

So if you are a decent manager who like to control the football stuff (BR) Managing Celtic can be a tough gig

So we cannot have the best option we can only have the best option who is prepared to work with Peter

There is only one manager at Celtic ……

  6. Is Neil’s time at Celtic coming to an end? Should the taxi be waiting?

Sadly even the strongest and best eventually find their talents withering, and new competitors, new ideas and different visions taking centre stage. That’s a fact of the vital circle of life, and sport is a marvelous microcosm of that great big world out there with its triumphs and disasters, laughter and tears, glory and ignomy, cordon bleu and last weeks left-overs.

People with a more intimate knowledge of the goings on behind the scenes are eminently more qualified to make that decision than me. My superficial view of the game, the team, the performance, motivations and so on are just that – superficial but heartfelt, and at that level it seems that Neil’s time is up.

BUT….surely, surely, surely he must be allowed the tilt at the quadruple treble.

Only then should any parting (perhaps even a pre-agreed one) take place.

That to me is not superficial…it reflects a humanity within the club and support and probably echoes how we would all like to be treated….

Accept the inevitable…but say goodbye with a smile and cheers echoing.

    Dan

Sorry to hear the sad news about your dad. Condolences to you & your loved ones.

Focus on the stacks of happy memories you must have.

    Stay strong fella.

  8. the defense is only slightly to blame

Remember the time of the seive???

The real problem was the midfield did not give enough cover for the defense

Brown, mcgregor, frimpong et al were often caught upfield and made little effort to get back to help

THAT ^^^ is the real problem

”Also, we should have faith in our board to make the right decisions at the right time.”

Not meaning to insult you, but are you taking the piss?

Our CEO, on giving the job to Lennon, confirmed that he never even looked at another CV or interviewed anyone after Rodgers left!

He also asked requisitioners for the smoking gun re RES 12, was given this, then done a 180 degree turn.

He then lied about reading the 5WA, even though it was personally sent to him.

    Lawwell’s a fraud.

If he told me it was sunny outside then I would grab a brolly.

Unfortunately he has a cult following on here, hence Paul 67 never having criticised anything he’s ever done in all the time this blog has existed.

  11. Jack Ross will be lined up for next season

Who will fill in for the 10 or not 10?

    Strachan for me

  12. Clunks

Bitton never tried a leg, same with El Hamed

    Duffy was awful but tried

I agree we have no defence from McG and Brown but you cant defend the defenceless

  13. CLUNKS

And when Brown or McGregor do get back, they make a hash of it. One is too slow and has poor judgment, and the other can’t tackle a fish supper. Rogic is way off the pace and Ntcham cannae be arsed. It’s a major, major problem.

  15. DD should indicate to PL that he will not vote him back on the board at next AGM. Then it is PL move.

He has a limited CV outside of football so would be interesting to see the outcome.

The fall of the invincible Delaney has happened in Irish footie

  16. NL has only had a league challenge in 2010/11 and now

He lost that one when it was on a plate

  17. Surely the considered opinion would be a long term strategy to keep der hun squealing under our feet as opposed to uninterrupted laughter?

  18. Still hurting after an abject performance.

One of the things most puzzling to me, apart from what next to try in defence, is this red herring over players wanting away that are causing trouble.

Amongst our best performers have been people like Ajer and Christie, who definitely want away and Laxalt, who has never uttered a word to say he is determined to stay here. Rogic, after his transfer broke down, played well against Aberdeen when he got the chance but he was overwhekmed by the pace of the game tonight.

The only want away who has suffered a severe form lapse is Edouard and he is playing a wee bit better now than he was during our opening games.

It’s not the want aways that are seriously off form; it’s the stalwarts, McGregor, Brown and Big Duffy who agitated to get a move here.

Even with my very low expectations for Europe, our performance tonight fell way below acceptable.

I am all for the 10 and letting Europe slip away this year but we have a huge battle ahead on Sunday against a Motherwell side which is also young and full of hard running though obviously not as talented as the Czechs. I can’t accept that, even on the evidence of tonight, we will lose or draw there. There has to be a reaction, as there was with Lille and Aberdeen, but we cannot afford to be a reactive team. We need to be doing it for ourselves.

Looking at our personnel, we have no pace in defence at all ( I don’t count Frimpong or Laxalt as true defenders though the latter can tackle) but we need a more mobile defensive mid pairing to screen them (Pairing any two from Brown, McGregor and Ntham has not worked) and David Turnbull, unfortunately, many things but never a DM. That only leaves Soro. I have not seen enough of him to be impressed or dismissive but, to my mind, he has earned, by default, a starting place on Sunday.

I’ll leave the transfer talk and the sacking talk to the rest of us but we do need to do something quite drastica;;y different over the next month.

That was really really poor tonight.

  19. We need Celtic fans fortunate enough to have a platform to call this out.

No more keep the faith or circle the wagons nonsense.

Neil Lennon and John Kennedy are not up to the job.

We need to make sure that message is heard at board room level.

I hope I’m reading p67 calling time on this management team later today, if not, then we’re in very big trouble.

  20. My grandson’s birthday next week – Armistice Day.

    He’s 11 on 11.11.20 & no he wasn’t born at 11.11am.

He’s a very good footballer, two footed & can play well anywhere in the team.

If he wants it, he could make a good life out of it – but then he’s very smart too so who knows.

We’ve got him the full Celtic kit with Ryan Christie’s name on the back for his birthday.

He came home from school today & we watched the game together – KO was 3.00pm our time.

He drifted away at HT & lay on the couch reading/not reading his fourth Harry Potter book.

I watched the 2nd half & from behind the book he was still able to tell me what was happening on the pitch.

After FT I took him to his own practice, waited & brought him back.

He’s only ever known success for Celtic & he asked me what I thought was wrong.

I felt that I fumbled & punted – those American football phrases work best here.

Truthfully? I spoke a little about organisation, tactics, shape, preparation, leadership, decision making, technique, team selection, good use of substitutes and game management. But I hadn’t really helped him to understand it any better, because he was hurting so much.

What would you say to him?

  21. ……President Biden traces his maternal Finnegan roots to Louth and Mayo and has stated that Wolfe Tone, the Irish patriot, is his political hero.

The columnist seems confident that Biden’s punishing schedule during this election is part of his plan to follow in the steps of Walter Mondale, George H W Bush, and Al Gore.

In the upcoming magazine, Scheiber refers back to a CNN interview with Candy Crowley in 2011 during which Irish American Biden said he was not “closing that door,” in reference to running for the position of the President of the United States.

At the time he said “I wouldn’t have run for president in the first place—and I don’t think the president would have picked me—unless he thought I’d be good at the job.”

Scheiber said during this Presidential Campaign Biden’s going to extravagant lengths to ensure that Barack Obama gets reelected to the White House. It seems he hopes that Obama will award him with support when the time comes.

He writes, “There is, quite simply, no speech Biden won’t deliver if it advances the White House cause, no attack on Mitt Romney he won’t wage, no annual convention of Pacific Islander flight attendants he won’t attend on the president’s behalf.”

One of President Biden’s advisers told the New Republic, “To some extent, he’s put himself in a challenging position [for 2016] by playing by the rules of the Obama political operation and not doing a lot of the prep work, particularly around fund-raising, you would ordinarily be doing by now.”

The advisor agrees that Biden could inherit the “key players on President Obama’s political team” including Jim Messina, Obama’s campaign manager. The adviser said, “Jim and the vice president have built up a nice relationship these past four years.”

Similarly, Rufus Gifford, Obama’s chief fund-raiser, could link Biden to useful donors. “I know [Gifford] felt the vice president has done a great job. He could be instrumental in pulling together money for this,” said the adviser.

The next step is having ties to the “traditional Democratic constituencies, such as labour, trial lawyers, and African American, Jewish, and gay groups and donors,” all of which Biden has been working on and achieving over the past four years.

Biden’s adviser admits, “Other than Hillary, he doesn’t consider any of the names lurking beneath the surface as competitors.”

Although President Biden has developed a great many good relationships in “Obama Inc” the team itself continues to have a number of “hang-ups” about the VP. A senior administration official told the New Republic “They think he talks too much. He’s a nice guy, but I don’t think they think he’s the [future] president.”

The article goes on to refer to “Biden’s college-roommate-at-a-wedding reception sense of tact isn’t the damage it inflicts on Obama, which is minimal. It’s the damage it inflicts on President Biden himself.”

Ultimately it seems that the attraction of President Joe Biden remains a paradox “The vice president has always been compelling enough to send Democratic strategists daydreaming. But, no matter how good the strategy, Biden always finds a way to step on (President) Biden in the end.”

  22. No more talk of circling the wagons, please. The problems remain within.

Surely now, all can see that operation Wash & Go has ended. It has run its course.

Recruiting the management team is the most important appointment within a club. It should be precise, professional and prompt.

The cobbled together coaching team we created certainly made a go of it. They had some successes. However, they should be relieved of their duties. They will not go on to work together again. No club will be looking to recruit them. We should note this.

I still believe we have the best squad in scotland. It is certainly the most expensive. We need a management team of equal professionalism and stature.

Doing nothing will only have one outcome.
