Patience, flag and Siri

458

Nervous? Oh yes. Any one of a number of things can go wrong, up to and including a red card while conceding a penalty. Celtic will need to score three without reply before any of us relax tonight. It’s the kind of challenge which should be completed within 15 minutes but Brendan Rodgers is right to call for patience. Any rush to get the job done could produce fatal consequences.

18 years ago this week, in front of a packed and newly completed Celtic Park, Larsson, Lambert, Boyd, Rieper, Burley and co. faced an equally unfancied St Patrick’s Athletic but couldn’t put the ball in the net. And they guys knew a thing or two about playing the game. Football isn’t played on paper, sometimes you need reservoirs of patience to invest in this sport.

Remember to get along early to see the league title flag unfurled before kick-off. I know we’ve seen 11 of these events since 2001 but we should never take it for granted.

…………….and the game is on your season ticket.

Best wishes to Tony Watt, if he joins Hearts, and to Massimo Donati, who’s pitching his tent at Hamilton Accies this season. Both created great Champions League memories for us.

I know the Uefa response to Res 12 hasn’t been generally released but did Siri and Skybet get a copy as well as the SFA?

that is only because they were waiting on all of us tactical geniuses on CQN to decide if any of us wanted the job first, I presume! :)

For anyone like me who has taken Premier sports for the month, to cancel, phone them on 0333 003 3773

at latest 10 days before your month is up. If you let it run beyond that they will charge you another month.

I do. I’m a software developer but I’m also extremely fortunate to work somehere that understands the work life balance.

In your scenario of course guys stay on, they know it’s not just the nature of their workplace but also of what they do and that’s partly why they do it.

You know as well as I do that that’s a totally different scenario to asking staff on a Wednesday, if they can do extra hours every day from the following Monday for 2 weeks. Which is roughly what’s going to be needed.

I think probably there’s a need to employ the max number of staff required full time for the period between ST renewals coming out and the sale of 3 match packages being finished 3-6 month contracts. You could probably cover any peaks buy asking people if they’re prepared to do overtime. After that you’d just need your core staff.

  6. Flight back delayed 25 mins which is still ok but will need to go straight to The Corner rather than home. Good excuse to buy a new scarf for this season.

  7. Good afternoon CQNers

Hope everyone going to the game tonight has a great time and we get the desired result in the bag early so we can play relaxed, entertaining football.

I was at the game on Saturday (brrrr) and thought the atmosphere emanating from the safe standing section was excellent and would work particularly well on Euro nights. Superb stuff from them!

On the playing side, my brother, who was at the game with me, noted that we played a lot more direct, flowing football when Scott Brown was not on the park in the 2nd half. He was right, of course, but I’d be feart going into an important game without him.

    Anyway, mon the hoops.

  9. weeminger “our business can be run better” I agree but is there a business in the land you could’nt say that about. We need specifics eg can CQNers name the three things they would change about the running of Celtic FC/PLC. I think I can guess No.1. H H Hebcelt

Probably but in this instance I’m speaking specifically about the TO and the fact it finds itself needing to employ people on a Zero Hours Basis.

  11. I’m sure u just saw the ref in the Astana game bless himself before he started the 2nd half.

    Imagine that in Scotland.

Assuming we prevail tonight ( and I sincerely hope I am not counting chickens here ), Astana have not lost in 12 games at home this season, and are 35 points ahead of old foe Karagandy.

Also noted yesterday that BATE drew 2-2 away to the Finnish champs, who were only established in 2007, and have a ground capacity less than 6,000. Maybe we don’t need to look at the English Championship to find players competitive in the Champions League qualifiers?

FC Copenhagen showed us how it should be done against part timers – being faster, stronger, and fitter translated into a barrowload of goals. A similar result tonight would boost confidence.

The transfer deadline for the next round is 11:00 pm tomorrow. Anyone think we are ready for Astana?

  13. WEEMINGER

Certainly, without a shadow of a doubt, that aspect of the business needs an urgent review. However, other parts of the business are doing particularly well, 52,000 approx ST’s sold, which will increase all other in house profits ie catering, paradise windfall, and programmes etc. New manager, who, I would guess, very few of us thought was attainable. Not saying that this is the bee all end all of what the business needs but some parts are performing extremely well. Now if only they could do something about our scouting and recruitment division por cierto
