  1. 50 shades of green on

And before anyone jumps in, I know that if Boyatta stays till Jan, McKenna should be fit by then, still think we would need a more experienced CH who can play on all surfaces and not prone to injury…

    ??

  2. Go tell the Spartim on

    50 shades

Just a centre half with ability would do, so that rules out McKenna, if thats the extent of our scouting then it needs sorted

  3. STARRY PLOUGH @ 9:53 AM,

I’ve got to agree, the Man City relationship has been useful.

Yet rather as an aside to complement or first team squad management it seems to be a whole scale distortion.

My thoughts about what we needed this window…

First and foremost to secure or top players and make sure they are here and ready for the 2018/19 campaign – if players ARE moving on Armstrong, Boyata a clear strategy to replace these players must be in place

Secondly to bring real quality into positions we need to strengthen, a couple of experienced players would do

Thirdly look at the ghuys coming back from loan moves, the young prospects in our team and our Academy bhoys and make a decision about each of their future

That’s squad management, not reacting to who potentially comes available from a relationship Club

We don’t need loans we don’t need prospects, although obviously if we are moving personnel on and a loan can bridge a gap, that’s another debate.

As you ask “where’s the scouts, where’s the money for players??”. We must start managing the squad and have one coherent and manageable process to do it.

    Hail Hail

  4. Morning fellow Celtic bampots,

Boyata : If he doesn’t leave now, he most surely will leave in January.

Do we really want a divisive, possibly destabilising player in our dressing room. Have we learned nothing ?

Yes he may be reinvented to our players and staff with the slate wiped clean. Everything in the garden will be rosy.

But will it ? . I would wager there will be an underlying resentment.

I hope I’m wrong, and it works out well. But I have doubts.

It’s not just the MSM-a hostile force-who are telling us that our wage bill is out of control. That line is being fed to us by a complicit force of club-friendly outlets.

It has probably been leaked by the highest paid employee inc bonuses.

And in my opinion, such as it is,that wage bill is sustainable with ease when it is backed by success on the pitch.

I was gonna say that I’ve never known a successful accountant-come-football-manager as PL seems to be trying, but I actually worked with one who was very successful at the level he aimed at.

Alan Maitland, worth googling. Probably a better accountant than PL-he was very very good-and worked wonders at Clyde and Hamilton along with his pal RM.

Still wouldn’t want him near Celtic Park.

When you’re out wi yer mates and one of them f…. up,he’s allowed to apologise, isn’t he?

Certainly hope so,or I wouldn’t have any mates left!!!

Personally I would have taken the £9m. So too would Brendan.i suspect.

But PL playing silly buggers re replacements,no. Brendan explained why he put his foot down.

PL knew damn fine Boyata was for the offski. And knew damn fine he was our best and most reliable CB

PL decided to take the money and leave the team denuded of quality and experience at the back.

As a result,we are running a risk of destroying potentially decent careers in Hendry and Ajer by exposing them before they are ready.

It’s like putting a teenager with a green and white “P” plate behind the wheel of a 32-tonner

  9. No way back for Dedryk Boyata he finally lived up to his labelling ironically not by what he did on the park, but what he did off it. Celtic are doing the only thing they can do, which is rehabilitating his reputation to maximize the fee we get for the player and to prevent him running into ‘Bawsman’ territory in January.

It’s a not brainer for Thursday not matter how unpalatable it may be for the support we need to cut our loses with the player, by selecting him ‘as the main man’ in Lithuania we put him back on the transfer radar for any alleged suitors.

He also has the seniority over Jack Hendry at the heart of ‘the return of the sieve’ Simunovic is unreliable, Ajer is developing, besides all that Lithuania is a long way from Parkhead,

  10. MULLET AND CO @ 10:32 AM,

Well I’m sure there are a few more, and we can forget Sammi – just for the moment :(((

But in Boyata until recently and Ntcham little meaningful in first team assets.

I’m not decrying the relationship persee but that seems little return for a lot of effort…

After all, we paid top $ for Ntcham

‘Livingston: Kenny Miller leaves player-manager role after just seven weeks’

  12. BMCUW, I wouldnt say our defence is as slow as a 32-tonner, but then again, we’re not exactly Ferraris either. ;-)

    tryingtothinkofacarlikeourdefenceCFC

  13. CHAIRBHOY

Ryan Christie, Scott Allen, Johnny Hayes, Young Kouassi, I think are players where a decision must be made, Calvin Miller I think will go on loan, he should go get some football somewhere else, it worked for Calmac.

Mikey looks like Brendan is going to have him in and around the team, Lewis Morgan too, we have to see if they’ve got it. Arzani is an exciting prospect so we’re covered I reckon out wide..

I would be seeking two more at least centre mid who knows the score in all aspects and a centre half who has a left foot.

Right back has questions to be answered as Gamboa is playing well, Izzy I think is a great cover for KT and brings something different to our forward moving game..

This window has become a farce where everything we do is under the fan and the media microscope which is unlike how we usually operate, the others are taking heart from our unsure dealings, Heartz have already profited and the Orcs have had a clear out and replaced them with an upgrade in several key positions.

We at Celtic need to be right at it the next couple of weeks both on and off the field and although it’s too early in the season to cry crisis I sense the other teams see us weakened and smell that first hint of blood round Brendans Celtic.

As for Boyata this is a clusterduck of epic Celtic proportions, not sure I would want him to play again but mistakes are made and the team spirit must prevail..I leave that one to Brendan..

Work to be down always to keep a good team improving and so far we’re not getting it done.

The next two weeks are crucial to see where were heading.

This years title was never going to be a gimme but we’ve conspired to make it rockier than perhaps it needed to be!!!

  14. I take it back, a 32-tonner is very apt, Slow, big but not very manoeuvrable expensive when they break down.

  17. Hunderbirds are Gone on

Watching BBC News there, and on today’s story about HMP Birmingham, there was an interview with a spokesperson for HMP Birmingham Monitoring Board. His name is Roger Swindells. Surely with a name like that he is destined to work for/own shares in Sevco in the future. :)))

    ?⚽️

  18. IMHO, another young CB is not what we need. We need a seasoned professional as the mainstay in our defence, otherwise our young centre backs will learn hee haw. Boyata is the oldest at 27 but I’m sorry the only thing you’re going to learn from DB is petulance and mistakes.

I can understand why Brendan may want to have him available for Suduva but an experienced individual needs to be brought in.

Broonie is looking slightly jaded, hardly surprising considering the punishment he takes from the hammer throwers. He needs someone who can take the pressure off him. As much as I love Olli he is not the man for that job as it is not part of his makeup. Bitton, love him or hate him, can help in that role but he seems to have disappeared off the face of the Earth – has he joined a kibbutz?

I don’t intend to tell Brendan his job but strengthen the spine of the team and most other things will fall into place.

  19. Starry Plough @ 10:53 am,

One thing I like about Brendan is he seems to give players a chance, he had a thorough look at everyone when he first came in and in the same vain gave those that were returning from loan spells this season a chance.

Decisions have to be made and you highlight some very good examples, Calvin is learning a different position and I’m sure regular football in that position will be good for him.

This window HAS become a farce and it’s endemic of what has been holding us back for quite a few seasons now. I’m not sure about the personalities involved and the only interest I have in that is – why is it screwing up our squad management.

On thing I do know, Brendan Rodgers has excellent experience in Academy football, development squads and first team football all at the top level – I can think of no better Football Operations Manager and an identikit Celtic fit.

We must let him do his job…

    Oft ooot..:)

    32-tonners aren’t really that slow.

    Once they get started.

There’s a hill between Bath and Bristol on the M4 where I used to put my lorry into neutral-it would have blown the regulator otherwise.

The tachometer card went up to 135km/h and could not handle it. Honestly,it was like going down the hill on a sled when you were a wean!

Thanks for that. I’m surprised more of our players are not out for 6 months when you consider what the opposition get away with. Watch this space re sevco in respect of Morelos and Coulibaly as well as the usual suspects.

No point on cutting your nose off.

Get what we can and spend it on a quality player that wants to wear the hoops.

Alternatively they are only 20 and 23 years old and should still have L-plates on at that level.

What is it,90 games between them before joining us?

Seriously, these young lads are top top prospects and we run a major risk of ruining them.

That’s unforgivable. And btw, that’s not only PL’s fault. They might not be BR first choice but he should NOT hang them out to dry as he has

  25. SIPS

Celtic may be alot of things, but they are not psychic, and neither was Brendan

able foresee that Boyata would ‘let him down’ the way he did.

But BR has the facts unlike anybody on the internet,

If he says he plays, he plays I imagine there will be all round agreement at Celtic, that given

the circumstances he’ll be sold ASAP.

Dunfermline’s site suggests their reserves will play ours at Cappielow this afternoon in a league game. Good luck to the Celts for the campaign if it does take place.

I’m coming round to the idea that the 0-4 defeat to Annan last week in the IrnBru cup didn’t really play out. Probably, our guys never fancied another drive to the borders so scratched. Makes sense to me.

  30. Delaneys Dunky on

McKenna is a big lump of wid and not good enough for Aberdeen. If anyone from Celtic has scouted him, they need sacked.
