Whyte’s proxy set to step forward for acceptance by SFA, SPL

984

When Duff and Phelps put their initial deadline in place for bidders for Rangers back in March, Celtic Quick News took the view that Craig Whyte was the only show in town and that any successful bid for the company’s assets would have to come from him or his proxy.

We didn’t know who his proxy would be then and we are still not sure – although we could have a pretty good guess.

Place the current SPL and SFA dramas aside for a moment.  If a deal is done to allow a Rangers-Newco to apply to play football next season the new ‘owner’ will be a Craig Whyte appointment.

If this unfolds in the days to come, I fully expect the SFA will take a very long time to consider any Fit and Proper questions, and I expect the SPL board will vote 4-1 to allocate a share in the league to the Newco.

Celtic, united with their own fans, and fans of the Gang of 10 clubs stand in one corner.  The boards of the Gang of 10 want Rangers-Newco money too much to object.  Don’t even count on Newco being subject to the penalties discussed at yesterday’s meeting.

A CQN’er is raising funds for the Wellburn Care Home in Dundee.  Run by the Little Sisters of the Poor, Welburn offers incredible residential support for those in need in the Dundee area.  It is only a viable concern through the dedication of the sisters and volunteers and fundraising initiatives such as sales of work, coffee mornings etc.

You can support their work by bidding for a Celtic top signed by the first team squad at this eBay auction.  Your help is greatly appreciated.

The argument for a Newco also seems to be going to league restructuring in other years to keep certain teams up. I recall Dundee United and Hibs being relegated. Aberdeen were on the verge and spared the embaressment due to Falkirks ground not being suitable as per the RULES.

The only club that are being deemed as too big to fail in Scottish Football are Rangers. Hugh Keevins, last week, actually said that Rangers would not even be allowed to fall out of the SPL under natural causes! What a lot of tosh.

Yes the hun have broken the law of the land, they have/ will be punished for that, ie penaltys for not paying their taxes, that in turn hampers their footballing ability.

Unfortunatly football is a law unto itself, they have their own rules, and suing a memeber association is taboo.

As I said before, an indivdual can sue the sfa/spl for losses incurred, I wonder if DD will decide to go down this route ?

I think the SFL have already made it public that a new football club who are no longer rangers, would be made welcome in the SFL.

I can’t remember all the details, but a few years ago a company in East Kilbride was forced to temporarily re-instated so that it’s former directors could be sued, which I think they successfully were.

Would be fabulous if we applied the same to rangers. :)))))

Cheers. It’s my understanding that BOTH bids so far have had conditions attached.

I am no expert in this area (hence the question) but I picked up from your earlier post (quote from insolvency expert) and from other comments elsewhere that only UNconditional offers can be considered.

IF that is the case = excellent

IF it’s also the case that HMRC have 25%+ of total credit and can block any CVA =excellent

I have seen no mention for days on whether anyone has agreed to stump up the £500,000 fee for exclusivity.IF that remains the case = excellent

Just of the blower to Roccobhoy who asked me the very same question.

I didn’t want to stipulate my expectations for the PLC but I suppose that would be bit like keeping my powder dry while watching the PLC keep their powder dry while all the while Rangers are leap frogged back into the SPL.

So here goes. (I’ll predicate this by saying Celtic may well have something else in mind that will demonstrate to me that they are acting with integrity and not being compliant).

    1. Publically appeal to and lodged an official request to leave the SPL with both their backing and their help to find a league to a compadre us.

    and/or

    2. Take both the SPL & SFA to court for lost income over the last 12 to however many years they can prove the Huns cheated. That will include lost Champions league money for the year/s Rangers qualified directly into Champions League or Europa Cup as well as income we would have gained from any other 1st qualifier we would have taken part in.

    and/or

    3. Refuse to recognise and play Newco.

  22. I don’t know how this will come across. Probably that I have no sense of humour, that I am overplaying it. I may even have my facts wrong. Please bear with me.

There’s a lot of oh-so hilarious chatter on Twitter and I believe other sites about a chap who was sitting in front of Neil on Sunday. Good natured banter no doubt, that he’s wearing a wig, there’s even a Twitter account @fenian_wigman and some stuff around tonight.

That chap, if my contact is correct, does not sport a wig. He is a very, very big Celtic man, a mightier Celtic man than I, a successful business man and a very wealthy man, and I am sworn to secrecy on the details, played a significant part in our club’s hour of need.

I think he’s owed massive respect and I think the whole banter, joking thing is juvenile and needs to stop. He’s unlikely to be on Twitter, unlikely probably to be aware of the stuff going around but I don’t think any of us, any Celtic fan, would like the stuff that’s going on just now about ourselves. I know, I am taking it too far, it’s low level, not harmful, just banter. But if it’s true what I hear, the guy’s a hero.

Sorry for being a spoil-sport. And sorry for taking up space on a rant. Maybe he does know about it all and is having a hearty laugh at it all. Just maybe he isn’t.

  23. I believe that our chiefs, Dermot and Peter, have egos that will match any who are in similar positions. I think this is positive from our point of view. There are many people in our history that we all regard so highly – Jinky, Jock Stein, Tommy Burns and on and on…..

But there is one who we regard highly for slightly different reasons – The Bunnet, Fergus McCann, one of our true saviours who not only transformed our club but who had it in him to take on the authorities and win, to stand up for what was right and to face ridicule and jealousy from the horrible media, the pro Murray poodles. He possibly had some ego, but not sure that drove him.

But I see DD and PL and ask do they have the ego to wish us to regard them in the same way as Fergus? Are they prepped and ready to intervene in a way that will make us proud of them in the same way we are proud of Fergus? I would say yes, and trust them to do so, whether it is because if their ego, or genuine sense of what is right, it doesn’t matter. We are in a 24 hour news world now; I’ll bide my time and look forward to them becoming the latest legends! Hail hail!

If only they had the dignity to take their just desserts, I reckon that a Newco hun outfit comprising mainly young players, starting in Div 3, would be relatively competitive in 3 years time once they made it back to the SPL – possibly not a million miles from where we are today with regards to personnel.

Of course, we might have improved and matured a bit by then – but I reckon that they would give us a decent bit of competition 4 or 5 seasons from now if they rebuilt properly.

    Stupid, undignified huns.
