Contingency party arrangements

831

Those of you with a ticket for Sunday can wish for an Aberdeen win tonight all you like, but be ready with contingency party arrangements, just in case. I know it’s six-in-a-row, I know this isn’t 1998, the towns and villages of Lanarkshire will not be adorned in green and white, but don’t switch your phone on after leaving a cinema tonight to hear than an hour earlier Celtic became Premiership champions, season 2016-17.

Winning the title without watching Celtic play is far from ideal. Winning the title away from Celtic Park has always involved more stress than I thought is absolutely necessary, but I’m as excited today as any of you will be with your match tickets in hand on Sunday morning.

In 10 hours we could be champions again! Get ready for it.

Wee Shay’s Green Army

Lennybhoy and TommyTwistsTommyTurns are looking for volunteers to distribute fliers for Wee Shay’s Green Army Raffle (which will be drawn on Thursday 25th May 2017 at Celtic Park).

They are looking for volunteers to distribute fliers advertising the raffle ahead of the Partick Thistle game at Celtic Park on 5 April. If anyone can help, please email walkwithshay@yahoo.com .

Thank you.

Enjoy yourself tonight, I have a feeling……….

Hello this is WEE BGFC. While am askin, anybody got two spare for the ross county away?

  2. My first Celtic game was at Celtic Park against Airdrie in the old style league cup before start of season. I was 9 or 10 years old. Goalkeeper was Frank Haffey. Bertie Auld was there in his first spell with us. He scored that day. Bobby Evans, Duncan Mackay, Bertie Peacock, Neily Mochan and Willie Fernie were playing as well.

took my laptop on holiday to watch the sheep game in case they get beat and we win the league, forgot the power pack !

And this device doesn’t support Internet streaming, well good thing the sheep are winning….

  4. Did i say that just 1 entrant to GFS2 picked Aberdeen for Round 1. And no, it wasn’t me.

  5. Cumon Dundee give us 4.

Is this the same Dundee team we played against a few weeks ago. ?

Hello this is WEE BGFC. I’m for a wee rant.

Why is it that me, ma Da, and so many other Celtic supporters out there who have been to each and every game, home and away, snow or sun every season are not offered tickets for the very game that could win us the title. Not just that, but a game that we have regularly attended – ross county away – we havent been offered tickets for that one either!! So people have been playing better and all of a sudden we and so any other die-hards, are shuffled to the back of the cue! This wasn’t the case under Deila. Something to think about.

  7. You are a clinical old lot!

I haven’t looked at the SPFL table for a few months but I’m assuming that the Sevco game has been scheduled as it has to avoid it being a league decider, with the resultant “social unrest” by the vanquished, as seen in last season’s Scottish Cup Final.

At least, that’s how they have traditionally done it!

Any word of the id of the guy who tried to hit Scott Sinclair when he scored the winner on the opening day of the season

DEDRYCK Boyata is looking forward to Celtic’s impending title celebrations whenever they arrive, and he plans to savour every moment. The Hoops defender had a difficult start to the season following a spell on the treatment table, but he has made 12 appearances since the turn of the year and bagged two goals.

Celtic stand on the brink of setting a new club record for the best ever start to a domestic season if they can secure points at Tynecastle on Sunday and go 37 games unbeaten, beating the previous record that was set 100 years ago in season 1916/17.

A win would also mean Celtic are crowned Champions of Scotland, once again. However, Boyata knows that the team need to stay focused on the task at hand.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s trip to Tynecastle, he said: “This weekend will be a very important game but we’ve been taking it one game at a time the whole season.

“We’ll treat Hearts away the same and hopefully we can win the game. We know our job and we know what we need to do.”

The Hoops could potentially clinch their sixth successive league title without kicking a ball though, if Aberdeen lose to Dundee at Dens Park tonight, and Celtic’s Belgian defender will be watching the game at home.

“We don’t know what will happen,” he said. “Sunday is our game and that’s what we’re focused on. A champion will always want to be a champion – it doesn’t matter when it happens. I’ll watch the game tonight and we’ll see.

“Everyone enjoys the title. If we win this weekend I’ll enjoy it like I did last year. Even though I was injured when we won it last year I still enjoyed it. It’s a great achievement. It’s important for me, the team, the club and the fans to enjoy.”

The 26-year-old defender had only made one appearance for the Hoops this season ahead of the winter break but has since forced his way back into the team and he’s determined to continue working hard to ensure he remains there

“For me it’s been a satisfying time and I’d like to keep going to the end of the season,” he said. “It’s important for me to finish strongly and play as well as I can.

“It was hard at the start of the season but it feels good to be part of the team. I want to keep going and I’m enjoying this moment – there’s no point talking about the past. We all know what happened in the beginning but right now it feels like things are getting better.

“I tried to stay positive, work hard and wait for my chance to play. I had to make sure I was ready if and when the chance came. I just worked hard, tried to stay fit so that I was ready for my moment.”

And as for the remainder of the campaign, Boyata says that the squad are determined to keep their impressive domestic form going.

“We’ll stay focused on the targets that we set at the start of the season even after we win the title,” he said. “It’s important that we stay as focused as we were at the beginning of the season.”

  10. A wee reminder for anyone interested in attending tomorrow’s Celtic Trust AGM in the Celtic Supporter’s Club on London Rd beginning at 12 noon.

Being a Celtic supporter is the criteria for entry :-)

Last time I was happy at sheep scoring 4 first half goals was when the old govan mob lay down to them at Pittodrie, sheep had to win by 4 and we had to lose against St Mirren on the last day of the season.

Nil Nil at half-time, score comes through 4 nil for the sheep, into second half Celtic score a couple and just about every one of us in the Jungle then prayed for the sheep to take 10 off the monkeys, never happened stayed 4 nil and we one the league (again).

    Good stuff mate.

I remember that China game. 1979?

My nonno (granda) took me and we walked all the way round the park at half time to watch the goals!!

Ps he also took me to Ibrox to watch China play the monkeys

Highlight of the China game was stadium announcer who struggled with announcing the Chinese team then as tradition demanded went for it a second time . I’m sure the Tic defence was still pissing themselves when we lost a goal in their first attack

Looks now that we could win the title at Tynecastle on Sunday, so well done to all those who have managed to get tickets. And well done to Celtic for keeping their focus throughout the season. Here we go six in a row!
