Dangerous teams with nothing to lose

482

We lost at Ibrox in January to a team that did not record a single attempt on target, not even at the own-goal we conceded.  We lost there again this month having missed a penalty and even better chances, while assisting the effort with another own-goal.  Frankly, Newco must be wondering how poorly they need to play against us to lose a game.  Nothing I saw from the home team in either of our recent defeats there justified fear of them.

If the old adage ’beware the straw man’ holds true, Celtic will deliver.  The straw man has nothing to lose or fear.  What have Celtic got to lose heading to Ibrox on Sunday?  This should be the most relaxed Celtic team to head there in Newco’s 9-year history.

The dubious motivation, to stop Newco’s unbeaten run in the league, feels a bit beneath us, but still…..

I`d go along with that selrction but would maybe like to see Griff in there .

  2. Celtic players have a chance to redeem some professional pride today, if they turn up.

For the want aways it’s a shop window, for the rest it’s a chance to impress a new manager, assuming there is one.

My 12 – I mean 11. Still would love to have fitted Bitton in, but they play Moreloss out wide and don’t want someone caught too far forward as happened with Nir the last time.

Yes, that is what I meant ie that the problem would lie in the shortage of medical facilities to treat Covid.

Your final sentence sums up my problem with the issue of deciding who should be treated.

Maybe talk of this another time but , with only 90 minutes until KO ,only fair to concentrate on the game now.

Yes, I had forgoteen about Bitton but he is a player I really rate. He is a bit in the Tom Rogic style but I am more a fan of the Israeli than the Australian.

  6. Won’t see the game today. Likely to be CQN for updates.

Like all families, we agree, we disagree, we fall out, we fall in, we fall over.

May all Celtic fans on here be happy clappers by mid afternoon.

Further managerial chat can wait for now.

    Hi Ernie.

I’m well aware of what the argument / suggestion is.

I still say it is abhorrent.

If we do that, I believe that not only would we win but we would do so comfortably.

  10. The notion occasionally expounded on here wasthat Desmond facilitated the winning of the League by Sevco.

Now that that has happened, can we assume that the real Celtic will turn up today and score a resounding victory?

I obviously don`t know but I am confident we will not lose.

  11. I’ve no doubt John Kennedy will continue to make the same selection

mistakes that have been made all season.

If you want to see Scott Brown bring him on late if we are winning.

    Eddy? more misses then.

Moi? which one will turn up?

No faith that we won’t see a testemonial team today.

Bring on the end of this horrible season

  12. Not a happy hunting ground for James Forrest the saviour in waiting, even though along with Scott Brown he’s even played there against Rainjurz. A heid doon, a*se up, performance is required from all of Kennedy’s players and a last chance saloon if ever there was one, for players that’ll be gone never having played in front of a supporter, in our ground.

Celtic can’t move forward this season and its been sideways with a team that picks itself, inclusive of all it’s failings. Penury in paradise, and playing at an empty dome, you’d think something has to happen even for a side that might look bland on paper, but much better than St Johnstone.

It’s been a while since there was a draw in this game, and for Celtic supporters that would be just as bootless.

  13. Right, cycling time for me now. Maybe not important to some but beating Ranger old or Sevco new is always a pleasure for me. I hope to return to a victory for the good guys.

    Cheerio for now.

    Hail ! Hail !

‘I still say it is abhorrent.’

    ###

What would be abhorrent is that someone would have to decide ,through allocation of limited resources, who would be treated and who wouldn’t be treated.

In that situation it would be a valid factor to weigh in the balance whether someone has deliberated exposed not only themself , but also, critically, others to infection. (This is where anti vaxers differ from snake handlers, the former increase the risk for everyone, not just themselves, through their decisions).

The way this season has gone any distraction, or displacement activity, is to be welcomed.

  17. Go tell the Spartim on

Today is the last chance saloon and an opportunity to start on redemption for players and staff alike, defeat for Triggers Broom today would put a little doubt in their tiny minds going forward COYBIG 🍀🍀🍀

See someone at the club is targeting players with height and presence for next year, wonder who could that be, is EH working already …….

    Hey Celtic, surprise me.

That’s pretty much where we are.

Still, it could be worse. The huns might have been in imminent danger of financial collapse and at least that prospect has been averted.
