Fifa, Keane, Davie Hay

755

And, they, gave us………. Davie Hay.  Enormous thanks to Davie Hay for coming onto the blog this morning.  It was great to read his responses on playing for and managing Celtic.  If you missed him, catch up from 09:44 here, you’ll enjoy it.

At the risk of commenting on Roy Keane when few of us know much about what happened last night….  I remain pleased we didn’t appoint him manager in the summer.  Very pleased.

Really disappointed at the outcome of the Fifa investigation into the awarding of the Fifa World Cups for 2018 1nd 2022, although, as I type that sentence, the reasons perhaps become clear.  As with all of these things, I’m specifically thinking about the Lord Nimmo Smith SPL inquiry here, football governing bodies ask the questions they want answered.  It’s not the independence of the investigator which is important, it’s who sets the scope of investigation.

You can get copies of Caesar & the Assassin, Billy McNeill and Davie Hay’s accounts of managing Celtic from Jock Stein’s departure until the appointment of Liam Brady, here.

  2. A different story emerging re the Keano incident. Story now is that the guy is known to Keane and has had previous altercation with him. Guy goes up to Keane and asks him to sign book, Keane smelling a rat says no. Guy laughing starts tearing pages out of book and throwing them around. Keane brushes past him and guy throws himself to ground in a dramatic fall & pretends to be injured. Unluckily for him entire incident captured on CCTV..

Andy needs to win in straight sets to go through.

And not necessarily in that order.

You have to realise the western media is not reporting whats actually happening there.

If your on FaceBook look at Graham Philips page as he is out there on the ground making videos and telling whats really happening.

  7. Read back on the Davie Hay Q&A, great stuff from the legend that is the quiet assassin.

Dallas dallas stole my thunder, Davie in the Jinky/Bobby testimonial was a sight to behold, the chant of “we want Hay” went round the whole ground time after time but sadly our wish was never realised. That was one brilliant emotional night, may only have been a friendly but a 4-1 win v Tommy Doc’s team, Davie Hay back in the hoops and the wee men’s boots being thrown into the jungle meant the deid team’s tatty treble meant eff all.

Best testimonial ever, by a distance.

  8. Hello Melbourne Mick

I’m not really one for videos or magazines, everything is ver 2D if you like, and it’s almost impossible to show how the body really reacts during a golf swing.

It’s prob best to keep things as simple as possible, untechnical kinda thing.

That said I quite like the instruction by this guy Paul Wilson ( not ours from the 70s)

    Cheers

  13. Russia ready for WC2018 ??? Aye.

They don’t pay Fabio Capello for five months. Next Russia game against Austria might be the last one with Capello on the bench. There are some rumours Capello will go to FIFA soon to get his money back. Russian FA confirmed there is not one ruble for Fabio wages. Empty, empty, empty.Capello could change his rubles in June and get GBP 4 300 000 . If he could change his rubles today, he would get GBP 3 370 000. It’s galloping inflation.

  14. Well done and well said Wigan footballer James Mclean.

Finally someone articulating what is behind all this poppycock.

Here´s someone who refuses to acquiese.

Can we say the same about our lazy journalists?

  15. Dallas Dallas where the heck is Dallas on

Goldstar, sorry. I agree, it was the best & most emotional testimonial I have attended.

Jimmy throwing his boots into the Jungle just made it even better.

Kenny got a hat trick that night on top of his winner v England the previous saturday. Davie and Celtic are a great match.

On & off the pitch, he done us proud.

As others have pointed out, we never lost one great player when Davie left but two as it made George Connelly feel even more vulnerable and didn’t end well.

Imagine how great our team would have been with Danny, Kenny, Davie and George playing in it for a number of years. What could have been.

  16. Davie Hay will be at the Greenock CSC on Friday 21st November for CQN’s official launch of Caesar & The Assassin. There will be other guests of honour too – more on that early next week.

  18. Dallas- indeed what could that team have been. Supplemented by the next litter coming through, Aitken, Burns, McCluskey and useful signings like Craig, Stanton, Doyle.

  20. Just read back to Davie Hay’s posts.

What a man he was – and is – for us.

I would love to see him back in our club.

just listening to some great music while I review some documents… and the music is so good (my favourite song in the last few years), I thought I would share it with you all. I know some of you know and love it already, but for the rest of you … enjoy Be Good by Gregory Porter.
