Some things are more important

I know we are in the middle of a storm with the prospect of the San Siro, not to mention St Johnstone ahead.  I also know the only thing you want to read or write about is how we are going to resolve our problems, but there is more to Celtic than football, specifically the Foundation.

The history poverty is clear, the poor suffer more from an economic crisis than anyone.  2020 has been a terrible year to be poor and many more people are now poor than a year ago.  Your Foundation stepped in early in the crisis and continues to work on our behalf.  There has been practically no fundraising this year: no badge day, no bucket collection or Ghirls for Good.

The Sleep Out, which takes place each winter, goes ahead on Friday night as Stay Up for the Champions.  You can participate from your home, details here.  If that is not possible, you can help in other ways here.

We are so much more than just a football club, the Foundation is evidence of that.

We’re launching Celtic: Fifty Flags Plus One, an anthology of how Celtic won each of their league titles today.  Starting with our first title in 1893, it details how Willie Maley brought consistent glory, then the sparse successes over four decades before Jock Stein arrived in 1965 and the more contemporary wins since.

It will rekindle memories you had forgotten and give insight into how the leagues were won.

  1. Well Well it seems we are stuck with Neil Lennon and Some players till possibly January, then for god sake play some of these players who constantly sit on the bench

  2. Saint stivs

They will fight us in the carpark, they will fight us at the training ground and in the superstore but we will never listen.

  3. Where is Shved at the moment?

    Is he out on loan?

The last time I saw him he scored a belter then disappeared.

  4. meanwhile –

‘What if every single one of us was a raindrop?’: Prince Harry asks

  5. Oh great timing. There’s Peter Lawell right on cue to prove my point.

This board ain’t even thinking about a salvage mission.

They are consistent, I will say that for them.

  6. That statement seems to say so little, in so very many words.

    More insipid than inspiring.

  7. Right, that’s it!

I’m not watching another game on my VST this season, err, in protest.

  8. ”Neil, the players and backroom staff………..have never been more determined to succeed.” -Peter Lawwell.

Really? It certainly doesn’t look like it, from where I’m sitting. The players hardly looked determined against Ross County. Many of them had their heads down and looked as if they had given up. The management trio just looked apathetic.

One thing puzzling me- why are people referring to Thursday’s game as a ‘dead rubber‘? It certainly isn’t for Milan. They need the points, as Sparta could conceivably overtake them.

Back to the Future is such a great title…

    Seems apposite hereabouts sometimes too…

  10. No Bobby Does It Petta on

“We have no Plan B, there is no viable alternative. We proceed with the status quo, and hope to God the Rangers start dropping points. “

  11. That statement for PL sounds as if he was forced into saying something and come up with something positive, yes the club is one game away from a fourth treble however even if that is won the league was always the priority this year, the form of the team the way they are approaching and playing games indicates to me he sees that as success and it could well be the only success this season. Its all been said this board has messed up it cannot get us out of this situation as it continues to back NL and the coaching staff, the board as a collective have failed totally and Lawwell is as culpable as them.

  12. Why did he even bother with that statement.

Does he think that will deter fans from gathering when we lose on Sunday

  13. Lawwell can join Lenny in packing his bags and going into Celtic infamy come the end of this disastrous season.

We’ve publicly backed a manager with the worst run of results going on for 60 years. We’re out of three competitions, 11 points behind in the league and conceding over 2 goals a game.

Sparta just put 8 going on 12 past us in two games.

We’ve backed a manager who has failed consistently to address our awful defensive shape.

A few weeks ago I feared losing the league at Ibrox in January, it’ll now be lost before then.

Desmond and Lawwell are destroying this club, not out of loyalty to Lennon but because they can’t acknowledge their mistake in appointing him.

    Cowards to a man.

  14. Just because you don’t like the message or the decision doesn’t mean there’s no plan B.

    There’s a reason why you’re not making the decisions…..just saying 😉

  17. King to sell his shares to Club1872 making them the biggest shareholder at Ibrox. So to confirm, a bunch of shysters are running rings around our board.

  18. PL – I told you after Ferencvaros you were on a warning

NL – yes but that was a one off

PL- then after the OF game

NL – they can go either way

PL – next was the capitulation to Milan and the disgraceful result at home to Sparta.

    NL – playing European giants

PL – away to Sparta was yet another disaster

NL – that wasn’t a reflection of our play

    PL – then Ross county

NL – we had to lose a cup game eventually

    PL – carry on Neil
