This is just the next step for The Celtic Triangle

493

You win five-in-a-row and go 24 points clear but it’s not until you propose to build an architecturally pleasing hotel and museum that the penny begins to drop with some that you are, in fact, an exceptionally well run football club.

I loved reading how we are interpreted on the other side of the city in yesterday’s CQN Magazine article, Simply Depressed:

“Commercially trolling us now. Light years ahead in income plans.

“It’s a source of revenue (and a fantastic bit of PR)….. It can pull an entire local community together and actually create new followers.

“If we ever get our act together, it will take years if at all to get anywhere near them financially, we can slaughter Lhiewell (sic.) all we want, but the bottom line is he is delivering for them.

“It’s a good initiative, having a hotel allows you to have certain events that were not previously possible. Media and corporate sponsorship will increase, new hospitality packages will be created, money from concerts will increase, supporters will hire function rooms and stay the nights more often.

“Just feel we are getting left behind commercially and will be seen as the poor football relation in Glasgow…this one highlights the growing gap between us and them it’s depressing.”

Pulling this together has taken years. Internal voices have dampened expectations during this period, a few times over the years I’ve heard: “There’s a long way to go, remember “floating pitches and super-casinos”” – a valuable lesson, thanks, Sir David. Celtic didn’t want to break ranks on this until the necessary money and commercial partnerships were lined up.

Don’t think this will see The Celtic Triangle finished, either, this is just the next step. The club have learned lessons from every noteworthy stadium of every sport in the world. European club football facilities miles behind where top US sports are at present.

We’re not there yet, but we’re on the road, and this is one journey that’s very enjoyable.

I believe there is a someone already on the board a Mr Traynor who was involved in Traynor signs now in building of hotels I think he has another hotel project in Glasgow about to start

No but it could be interpreted by some on here as an thinly veiled attack on the 1921-22 Board, who after winning the league title, sacked the reserve team and decided to push on with 14-15 first team players the following season.

The last 5 managers to win the Premiership haven’t survived the following season..Mancini,Ferguson, Mourinho,Pellegrini now Ranieri

Is that a private development or something to do with the Radisson group?

Either way I think Glasgow is indeed a good place to invest in hotels.

  5. Ranieri – shocking, fk Leicester hope they go down. Players need to take a long look at themselves.

Don’t no who it involves but I think he has been involved in a few Hotel developments the Celtic one he may just have advised them

You have to wonder about the mindset of the people who make these decisions

Unless Claudio’s agent was spotted in the Louden with DK

I think a British League will be in situ for Brexit.

The SNP hates Scottish Fitba – I wonder why that is?

Just back on after a hospital transfer to and wifi issues at GRI, I read your very harrowing story, it is amazing how many sliding door moments we have in our life, if you hadn’t made that call?

BT The BV is on the list before the end of the season

  10. Ranieri’s only won 5 out of 25 league games this season, losing 14, which is pretty poor, but, of 13 managers who have been brought in after a sacking with their new team 17th or below in the Premier League, seven have failed to avoid relegation.

    Leicester lie 17th.

  11. BMG fans letting off flares in EL game with Fiorentina……or is it only us who pay for this?

Some years ago myself and OldTim67 and others visited Lennoxtown whilst the training complex was being built. We actually got into the Castle or at least as far into it as far as it felt safe. OldTim67 suggested there and then that Celtic should convert the Castle into a hotel, and build a new block adding room capacity and in doing so help fund the project. Seen a few references on here recently (Fullybhoy) that something may be happening on that front. Not Glasgow I know, but a great location all the same. And still a great idea.

I am sure Borussia Monchengladbach will get a fine, you just wont read about in the Scottish Tabloids

  15. Apparently Sky have signed a long contract for North of Ireland games. I’d hazard a guess @ the same price.

    Are Sky being muscled out?

Who knows what is REALLY going on.

Very good perspective on the Ranieri sacking. It is true he will add to his wealth however he is still a human being who in my eyes has been poorly treated. There may well be another side to all this, I don’t know.

Sad to hear of any local business going to the wall. The homogenous high street is driving people to online shopping.

  17. Hello again all you young rebels.

It just gets better and better for us off the park as well as

on it with the hotel complex, and great to see we are keeping

our Celtic charitable ethos alive with the Henke and Lubo

legends game as helping people who cannot for whatever

reason help themselves means more to a lot of our fans than

just being a cash rich club, hopefully that will never change.

Need to get myself and the princess back home now for a

visit to see the changes to paradise as it,s been a few years

and probably our last before we visit wee Jinky and company

up in the real one, it will be strange to think back to what it

was like back in the early sixties when i was a bhoy and trying

to count millions of buses as i thought when heading to the

game along a foggy dreich Gallowgate.

It,s been a tough week at training with the wee mhan and his

team, my wee visit to Tazzie and too much Guinness ( the best

ever since i was in Ireland ) left me in a very unfit condition but

i survived , they had played a friendly and won 15-3 the wee

mhan scored 8 and our young African protege and fellow Celt 5

so interesting season ahead for top goalscorer coming.

My mate the head coach told me one of the parents a decent

enough guy but always carping on about Liverpool and the EPL

was trying to wind the bhoys up, as always, said to them after the

game ” if you were Liverpool fans you would have scored about

    ten goals each ”

    and the wee mhan replied

” aye and if we wur teabags we wid huv stayed in the cup longer

    than liverpool ”

he he i wished i’d been there.

  18. Better Ranieri leaves now before they get relegated and he ends up getting sacked after a poor start in the scrap in the championship

They looked like they were ending up bottom of the epl which might have tainted his achievement last season a bit
