Celtic: a morality tale

422

Just when you thought it was safe to have hope for the remainder of Celtic’s season, 13 of the squad, as well as Neil Lennon and John Kennedy have to isolate.  This is in addition to Christopher Jullien, who tested positive over the weekend.

This has been a failure by design.  Celtic did what was permitted, not what was wise.  We have been out-thought and out-planned all season, on and off the field.  The latest crisis happened because a player with a long-term injury travelled for warm weather training.  Where to being?  From a position of weakness, we needed to not put a foot wrong during the second half of the season, instead, we have become a morality tale for others to learn from.

If you like watching Celtic with overwhelming odds to fight against, you should enjoy the games ahead.

Best wishes to Christopher Jullien for a complete recovery.

As for bonding with a beer by the pool, what better way to make your non-drinking Muslim teammates feel part of the cosmopolitan fold.

There’s a village somewhere missing its football team.

  2. Thanks to all those who saw the lighter side as it is always good to laugh in these times. As for the serious side GARCIA LORCA was spot on and let’s hope there will be repercussions. I think many of us would have said, is asked, the risks were high, probably too high, including the risk of further alienating your supporters. As to the dynamics of the infection, those infected and the team tonight no point in speculating. Whoever is playing gets our support and perhaps there will be some pleasant surprises..

Blantyretim – fair play for trying to a farce entertaining, but at the risk of faux outrage, it seems quite tasteless.

To a few others, lay off the click bait lest you self combust.

  4. Gavin Strachan’s laptop is ok for the game tonight, it has an anti virus programme on it👍

It will be a sad way for Peter to go but there isn’t a hope in hell a CEO can survive this.

Nothing remotely sad about the cancer at the club being extracted.

I have a nice bottle of Champagne sitting waiting to be opened if it comes to fruition.

I will celebrate the day he leaves similar to the fall of the old board.

I would just like a few more facts because something doesn’t add up.

    ==================

Indeed – a lot of speculation on the details.

Overall, though, no doubt of the overall extremely poor judgement from Celtic, completely irrespective of the Covid-positive test result or enforced self-isolations. What they don’t seem to realise is that the wee, tiny beastie that is the virus doesn’t know they are elite sportsmen, and so it must not touch them.

The joke re: Barkas – very good :-))) Tad harsh on Big Tam though (keeping the ball), but very funny re: lasting 60 minutes :-))))

Thanks – the picture I saw had only Julien in it. Someone with keener eyesight may be able to confirm that others in the photo are from Celtic and were travelling to Dubai.

As others said, what was the point in him going on a plane with an injury. Should have been at home recuperating unless Dubai has some magic machines for treating the injury.

Also – are they heading for that Jet2.com plane? Maybe that has been privately hired. Or maybe it is a schedule flight to somewhere that Julien was going.

Sounds to me as if Red card Ross is bringing the game into disrepute if he said that about Celtic FC

  12. 🙋‍♂️ Hi Fellow Celtic Fans!

I am normally a calm and reasoned individual, but

    FER F**KS SAKE!!! 🤬😡😠😠😡🤬🤬🤬

In my 62 years on earth and my 56 years supporting Celtic I have NEVER known a time when Celtic are A LAUGHING STOCK!!! 🤬🤬🤬

This is an affront on Brother Walfrid, our legends, our forebears, and of course we as the current custodians of, if not the PLC/Club, certainly the Celtic Fans ongoing reputation! 🤬. I am not, and never will be, ashamed to be a Celtic Supporter, but I have never been embarrassed before to be a Celtic Supporter! 🤬

The world has changed since Covid-19. We will come good again, but at the moment this is a Celtic Crisis of Seismic Proportions, and it will now take us some considerable time to recover I expect.

Around a year ago (? Not sure of dates), The Green Brigade had a banner pleading for Celtic’s Leaders (sic) not to be ‘Asleep at the wheel’. I didn’t pay too much attention at the time; hands off the wheel, drunk in charge and asleep all at the same time might be closer. A car crash if ever there was one! 🤬

    SCUNNERED!!! 🤬🤬🤬

Take Care, Keep Safe, God Bless and Hail Hail,

    Yours in Celtic,

    TB&F. 😢

That almosts sounds as though you believe that` the SFA,referees,MSM and the government` are fair in their dealings with Celtic. I am sure that is not what you meant.

Etims pointing out that Barkas catching it would deserve a headline on its own, and that if Rogic has it, he would lose it almost immediately.

    —————————–

Edouard definitely wouldn’t pass it on

  15. For those talking of it earlier, William Hill has Celtic at 17/20 and Hibs at 5/2.

PSThe above is simply information. I am not encouraging anyone to bet ( except Big Jimmy who needs no encouragement).

I liked the two `jokes` re Barkas not catching Covid and Rogic`s only lasting for 60 minutes :-). Humour Helps .

  16. TB and F

I think absolutely the most is being made out of this and the circumstances being inflated to their utmost.

I qualify that by admitting I too am “scunnered” by most of what has happened recently around the Club.

Most commentary representing genuine Tim reaction with others doubtless the result of sleekit, gleeful hundom.

A dubious course of action is being pilloried, and it is remarkable imo that Scotland has unilaterly piled inon one Club, my Club,

while not holding the other Klub or indeed the national team to the same scrutiny.

politically motivated bias in plain sight.

  17. I didn`t know this:

“In the Women’s Super League, Arsenal’s trip to Aston Villa and Manchester City’s home game with West Ham were both postponed after five players tested positive for coronavirus following trips to Dubai over Christmas.”

  18. What I fail to understand in all of this shambles is that no one from the Supporters Association has made any comment or indeed informed their members that the Association has spoken to the club about the feelings of the countless numbers of supporters who are totally disillusioned by what has taken place, not just the Dubai fiasco. but all that has lead to us being in the position that we are in. From looking forward to ten in a row at the start of the season, we are now in a position to fall further done the league. We will be lucky if we get a Europa League place.

  19. The Blogger Formerly Known As GM on

Ross now has a serious conflict of interest.

He can’t at once put the boot in as a politician then be expected to be a beacon of impartiality when officiating Celtic games.

  20. The Covid story seems to have masked the rather worrying gossip that Celtic are mulling over a new 12 month contract for Scott Brown

No matter what you think of the skills/influence/fitness of Brown ; pretty much everyone of a Celtic persuasion I talk to agrees that a fresh start is needed next season whether we won the 10 or not

For me that means Lawwell, Lennon and Brown paid off/retired at a minimum for me. A few other players to be sold or let go as well

I don’t think Lawwell will go and it is 50/50 on Lennon but surely Brown’s time is up?
