Denayer set for Galatasaray

552

Manchester City central player, Jason Denayer, will join Galatasaray before tomorrow’s transfer deadline. The central defender was on Celtic’s radar after the injury to Rivaldo Coetzee, and all other things being equal, I believe the player would be happy to head back to Celtic, where he played season 2014-15, but City are set to conclude the deal with the Turkish club.

Celtic will soon have Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko back from injury, while Jozo Simunovic was rested for recent games on plastic pitches, but is available for selection alongside 19-year-old Kris Ajer.

With three senior central defenders already at the club, plus one development prospect, I believe City were concerned that Jason would not have seen the development opportunities he enjoyed at Celtic first time around.

  5. I havent been on for 24 hours or so, and I have read back this morn.

I believe that it is safe to say that NONE of us know for SURE what Celtic are doing ( or NOT doing) on the transfer front, therefore I try and refrain from speculating.

I do however think its right and fair that we fans give Celtic the benefit of any doubt that MAY exist ?

Given the mental situation surrounding transfers and loans, agents and the crazy prices of many average players across Europe, in my opinion Celtic are most probably working hard behind the scenes, but won’t always get their man ?

In life in general, none of us ever get ALL that we want. A few recent years ago I was almost on the street after losing my job unfairly, my home and my marriage….okay so two bad things happened, but I am now just very grateful for having a roof over my auld Celtic heid.

NONE of us know how close ( or far away) Boyata is from returning, likewise with Jozos situation ( IF there is a situation ?)

As for the Celtic Board NOT backing Brendan, please allow me to ask this question…………..” IF Brendan was asked directly today live on TV if the Board has failed him……and his reply was/is ” A Resounding NO”…..would some on here then go as far to say that Brendan is a LIAR, and he is just a Puppet…..should we fail to sign another couple of players before the deadline ?

Lets ALL wait and see if Brendan and the Board deliver any more “Goodies” today….IF they don’t then imo Brendan and the Board deserve the benefit of the doubt imo ?

    Just saying like.

Belated Happy Birthday to The BUZZBOMB….Whit a feckin player Celtic Legend forever.

  6. Cultsbhoy says Hail Hail to Hector and Brendan on

Based on nothing more than a hunch….

Denayer was never an option for us. I’d imagine is wages far exceed the current structure. I have always rated him and think he’s a superb player.. In a way ideal for CL as he’s not the biggest but a genuinely talented footballing centre back/ central midfielder, precisely what’s required at the higher level when the ball is played on the ground.

But I think we’ll see a decent CH arrive . It makes financial sense as it is a glaring deficit.

Board bashing amongst SOME CQN`ers is just part of their make up.

They don`t need rhyme , reason , understanding or logic .

It`s just what they do . Irrespective of irrefutable evidence to the contrary.

I used to make an effort to understand.

    Mate.

    There`s no point.

    They`re not open to reason.

    Hail Hail

  12. Morning all. From the Record:

“Scot Gemmill looked on in awe as French striker Odsonne Edouard terrorised Scotland at the Under-17 Euro finals back in 2015.

The Celtic target scored an audacious backheeler as the Les Bleus whipped Gemmill’s team 5-0 in the group opener.

Now the teenager could be unleashed on Premiership defenders as the Parkhead club try to seal a season-long loan for the Paris Saint-Germain kid.

Gemmill admits it would represent a fantastic piece of business for the Hoops and boss Brendan Rodgers if they can get the deal over the line.

Edouard was the undoubted star of the French side who went on to clinch the Euro crown and he made history when he became the first to player to bag a hat-trick in the U-17 Euro final as Les Bleus hammered Germany 4-1.

And the kid also set a new record with the eight goals that landed him the Golden Boot, eclipsing the seven netted by Jonathan Soriano of Spain 13 years ago.

Now Gemmill is convinced Edouard will light up the Scottish game. He said: “I remember Osdonne very well. He was the star of that French team and stole the show at those finals.

“Scotland played France in the opening group game and we were thrashed 5-0. You could tell even then that France were going to be serious contenders to win the competition.

“Edouard was a top player and even scored a hat-trick in the Final against Germany when they destroyed them 4-1.

“I took some comfort from that and I remember being relieved they did the same thing to other opponents as it helps in terms of coping with the nature of the loss we suffered.

“Edouard was definitely the real deal in terms of talent and goalscoring ability. He seemed to possess everything as a forward.

“He had the speed, size and power and I was greatly impressed by him. He scored a fantastic backheeled goal in our game and his technique was superb.””

  13. Wow, deadline day should be fun. I must admit it’s entertaining and has certainly boosted the “in work”numbers. Reporters at every club, finance directors, lawyers, accountants, agents, photographers, chauffeurs, newsreaders, pilots et all. There are even some fans..

The figures discussed are staggering and if applied in social circles would at a single stroke help alleviate hardship for many of our most needy and vulnerable.

Yes we need a CH , but for a guy who could walk right into our CL team the total outlay would be ridiculous, and even put the long term prosperity of our club into question.

Our focus of signing young fringe players is the only viable way forward. Ideally we produce our own, which I am delighted seems to be happening..

Our scouts have to be quicker and more astute than those at ” bigger” clubs and we have to be willing to take a chance.( Even if it doesn’t always work out ).

I trust our managerial team to do what is necessary.

    HH, the journey continues.

PS : In my humble opinion the line of questioning of a new female poster was OTT.

Theres a lot more football available than just the EPL – Spanish football is far easier on the eye, the Bundesliga is brilliant on and off the pitch, Argentinian football is mental, but unfortunately we are all conditioned to look to the EPL first!

  15. Don’t think we’ll sign a CH today. It’ll be spun that Coetzee was the target and he failed medical, Erik won’t be sold and Jozo and Dedryck are now fit to resume partnership. Ajer fourth choice.
