Neil’s back, Anthony’s off

454

Best wishes to Neil Lennon is his new role as Hibernian manager. Without wanting to be impolite about Alan Stubbs, Hibs have traded-up in getting a manager of international repute and experience at the highest level of the game.

Neil is a talented coach who got unlikely results across his Celtic career. He’ll bring Hibs up next season and establish a platform to rebuild the club.

Best wishes too to fellow Irishman Anthony Stokes, who left the club yesterday six years after joining from Hibs. The best of Anthony was there for all to see at the Scottish Cup final. He’s still only 27 and, should he find the appetite, he should still have a few good years in the game. His Celtic ‘thing’ finished years ago.

Celtic legend, Charlie Gallagher, will be signing copies of his autobiography at Waterstons, East Kilbride, this Saturday (11th) from 2pm, and 2pm the following Saturday (18th) at Waterstones, Braehead. Get along to see him!

Good luck to all involved in the Green Brigade Anti-discrimination tournament at James McGrory Park on Saturday. If you’re not in East Kilbride, get along.

Stokes, Commons and Mulgrew were probably considered our better players in Europe.

Our results there suggest that “better” didn’t mean “good enough”…..and therein lay our problem.

We need to improve in those positions, as, even in their prime, these guys fell short of fan expectations.

They lacked the one vital component, pace.

  2. The Guardian and The Herald refusing to take an ad isn’t a national news story. Yet.

Add a few more papers to the list, if UEFA investigate the issues, or it ends up in the courts, then their refusals may become part of a national tale.

  6. Can anybody confirm whether 415 and 416 used to be ‘special’ ST blocks? I’m sure they were but the club have tweeted that STs released for those areas today are full STs.

If I’m right that’s very interesting.

  7. Macjay, To be honest I don’t have the time or inclination to get involved in an extended debate. I simply judge on what you post, when you are on football or Celtic matters I tend to agree when you enter the political arena I tend to disagree to put it politely.

I’ll leave it at that, if you don’t mind, I’m sure the general readership here have zero interest in our spat.

you know i am a regular attender when time fits, maybe 10 – 15 times a season, allways some good soul would give me their seat, and that was great, a wee donatin to something each time.

I read your post about your daughter wanting to go to watch Celtic, but your strongly-held principles mean that she can’t,as you won’t go near the place.

I think you should reconsider that, mate. So,e things are more important than principles. Your daughter’s happiness is one of those things.

PS-I promise to back you up on here that you only did it as a good Dad. Your principles are as firm as they ever were.

  11. Can`t believe Alex Tomo would say it`s not a big enough story!!! Corrupt National Football Association collude with one team to the detriment of more than one team? That IS news. Out them and clean up Scottish Football, while you still have the chance.

  15. Billybear,

To be fair to Alextomo he did hint that he is waiting for the outcome of the Supreme Court case regarding EBTs. I think at that point he will come out with all guns firing at many issues regarding them.

  16. Fair play to you Thom, AT is in the cabals pocket, he won’t do anything that in any way crits them, he is a crapper like the rest.

Journos, they don’t have a clue, playing at it as long as the cabal are left out of it.

Billybear-to a certain extent I can see Alex Thomson’s point,re not being a big enough story. Nobody is interested in Scottish football down south, and C4s budget won’t be the biggest. We are being blackballed re the advert, through freemasonry, which has always been rife in the printing/newspaper trade. We need to think outside the box now,the Euros are on ,with huge worldwide TV ,maybe project the Res 12 image on to a famous landmark? We should ask every major newspaper in the UK to carry the ad,make a list of who refused (not another list…) then try to expose them collectively, but to whom…..?

  25. The Exiled Tim,

I’m surprised at you saying that about AT. Have you never read or listened to his criticism of them and the Scottish football authorities? He is not as involved as he once was but he is on our side.

I think from a journalist’s point of view he is waiting for the bigger story. Remember it all started with EBTs (RTC) and everything is connected. EBTs – cheating – player registrations – side letters – LNS – tax withheld – Euro licence – SFA – I could go on. But if HMRC win at the Supreme court then it blows it all up that not even the Scottish press can ignore or cover up.
